Jason Priestly says he "did his time" on 90210

by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 14th 2008 3:03PM
Jason PriestleyDon't expect to see Brandon Walsh hanging out with the rest of the gang at The Peach Pit when the new 90210 debuts this fall. Jason Priestly, who played Brandon throughout 90210's original incarnation has revealed that he has in fact been approached by CW execs about reprising his role--but that he has turned them down.

Priestley, who is currently promoting a one episode directing stint on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, seems to be more interested in taking a seat behind the camera than donning his acid-washed jeans in front of it. While Walsh appeared in nearly 250 episodes of the teen soap, he also directed 18 of them. Despite turning down the CW's original offer, he seems quite interested in taking a seat on the director's chair.

BH90210 title bwSo Shannen may be coming to the new 90210, and Jennie is definitely in the cast, and Tori will miss the first few episodes because she just had a baby, but generally speaking, there's been lots of buzz and interest in the upcoming, 2008 version of Beverly Hills 90210.

Is Shannen Doherty really coming to the new 90210?

by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 2nd 2008 10:38AM
Shannen D 90210The new 90210 has yet to air but it's already created a tremendous amount of buzz. The return of actresses Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth from the original series has made news, as well as Luke Perry's words that he won't be coming back and Jason Priestley letting the world know he'd be available to direct.

But what about Brenda?

Well, in his new perch at Entertainment Weekly, Michael Ausiello reports that his sources -- producers Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah -- have confirmed that Miss Shannen Doherty is in formal talks to join 90210 in her original role, Brenda Walsh.

by Isabelle Carreau, posted May 12th 2008 3:38PM
Tori SpellingNot even a week after it was announced that Jennie Garth would be part of the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off in a recurring capacity, comes the news that Tori Spelling will also join the "new" 90210 series.

Nikki Finke, over at Deadline Hollywood Daily, which was a prime spot for news about the writers strike, reports that reliable sources claim Tori Spelling will reprise her role of Donna Martin on the spin-off.

Jennie Garth will be part of the 90210 spin-off

by Isabelle Carreau, posted May 10th 2008 5:05PM
Jennie GarthActress Jennie Garth, who portrayed Kelly Taylor in almost 300 episodes of the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210, will appear on the series' spin-off set to premiere this coming fall season on The CW. The actress, who will appear in a recurring capacity on the spin-off, will reprise the same role that helped put her on the map in the 1990s.

It's not unusual to see original cast members make their way in spin-offs. And when said spin-offs have teens attending school, it's a regular occurrence to see the original cast member be part of the school's staff. Kelly Taylor is no exception here. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Kelly Taylor will become a guidance counselor at West Beverly Hills High. Nothing more is known at this point about the character and if other 90210 original cast members will join her on the show.

Jennie Garth was also part of the cast of What I Like About You and of Season 5 of Dancing with the Stars.

Jason Priestley says no to dancing, maybe to 90210

by Allison Waldman, posted May 5th 2008 1:04PM
Jason PriestleyThe new Beverly Hills 90210 is busy casting and coming together, but it doesn't seem like any of the stars from the original Fox hit will be involved. Don't look for Brandon Walsh among the characters, at least not with the man who created him. Jason Priestley admits that nobody from the new 90210 has even contacted him about an appearance. In a brief interview with momlogic.com, Jason said, "I'm certainly open to it. I loved working on that show. I loved everything I did on that show. I had so many jobs on that show, I loved it so."

On the other hand, Priestley makes it abundantly clear that he has no interest in following in the dancing footsteps of two of his 90210 castmates, Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth, by joining Dancing With the Stars. He just can't dance and he makes no bones about his inability to do a Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly turn. His hobby is on the race track, not the dance floor.

Jennie Garth may be headed back to 90210

by Anna Johns, posted Apr 16th 2008 3:02PM
jennie garthWe all know that Beverly Hills 90210 is coming back. And now there are rumors swirling that actress Jennie Garth may be part of it. She played Kelly Taylor on the original series in the 1990s.

Garth, who appeared on Dancing With the Stars last season, was recently cast in a lead role for a new CBS sitcom called My Best Friend's Girl. The show is about two guys -- best friends -- whose relationship becomes complicated when one of them begins dating the other's ex-wife. Garth was cast as the ex-wife.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 9 results

Jennie Garth and Derek Hough

(S05E18) The roster for the Dancing With The Stars finale is set! I think that very few people would have expected the Final Three to include these particular couples, but the unpredictable nature of the show is part of what makes it entertaining. At the very least, we know that the finals won't be boring! Still, I was glad that Sabrina turned up to show the remaining competitors a thing or two.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 9

Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli

(S05E17) In just one more week, the Dancing With The Stars finale will be here, and it was time to thin the herd. I would never have guessed that Jennie, Marie, Mel, and Helio would be the final four dancers, but they each brought something special to the semifinal. I still believe that Mel and Helio will reach the final phase of the competition; they didn't falter even a little this week. As far as I'm concerned, the third spot is up for grabs. Who will the fans choose?

Helio & Julianne - Dancing With The Stars
(S05E16)Tom opened the show by calling out Mel and Helio as the two leaders that have emerged. He followed that up by reminding us that this is a season of surprises and anyone could go home. I think that has been very clear since Sabrina was bounced out of the competition, but it's always worth mentioning again. Was week eight another example of fandom over dance? The results, and the rest of the show, after the jump.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 8

Jennie Garth and Derek Hough - Dancing WIth The Stars
(S05E15) If things weren't tense enough before, the next two weeks get really crazy. All five of the teams left in the competition have a legitimate shot to make it into the finals. With the big prize on the line, every last point counts. They can do all the promotional appearances and interviews they want, but the fan vote is a fickle thing that can't be controlled. The only thing they can control is what happens on the dance floor. So now, more than ever, it's time to step up the level of performance. Once again this week, each couple has two dances to perform. It made for a jam packed show and there is a lot of dancing to get to. We'll do just that, after the jump.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 7 results

Melanie Brown and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

(S05E14) This week's Dancing With The Stars results show was, thankfully, what most viewers expected it to be. Compared to last week's surprising elimination, this week's show was fairly run-of-the-mill. The passing of George Osmond resulted in Marie's absence from the episode, but fortunately not from the show itself. The hosts wasted no time in letting Marie and Jonathan off the hook; she was declared safe even before the standard recap of Monday's dances.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 7

Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts

(S05E14) The hosts of Dancing With The Stars were doing some major damage control in the wake of Sabrina's elimination. Viewers were warned at least a dozen times to remember to vote for their favorite celebrities. Personally, I think it's sad that people need to be reminded of the basic principles of this show, but oh well. The competition has changed now that Sabrina is gone--it's a battle of the fan bases! This week, the remaining dancers performed two dances, one in the Ballroom style and one in the Latin style. I'm always excited when we reach this point. You get a much better idea of who can handle the pressure and difficulty of learning two routines. As always there were some fun surprises and a few flubs.

Is Dancing with the Stars cursed?

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 2nd 2007 4:41PM

Dancing with the StarsShort answer: no.

Long answer. no. Duh!

But it's the question being asked over on Access Hollywood's web site. With Jennie Garth falling and Marie Osmond passing out and Jane Seymour's mom dying and then Seymour getting food poisoning, it sounds like Dancing with the Stars is cursed! Well, actually it just sounds like sometimes wacky things happen when you're on live television. I like how they add in (probably because they're aren't enough real examples to make all of this sound like a "curse") Seymour's home almost being burned in the Malibu fires. And since when does someone being voted off the show (Sabrina) count towards a "curse?"

Carrie Ann, Len, and Bruno - Dancing With The Stars

(S05E13) Holy crap! Halfway through the fifth season of Dancing With The Stars, I really shouldn't be surprised by things like this. It's something that we have seen before. Still, the results show tonight caught me totally off guard. In my post yesterday about the performance show I said that I didn't agree with Tom's opening line that anyone could go home. I'll take it back now. Anyone can go home, any week. And apparently, anyone left in the competition could win the whole damn thing.
