Italy's Glassblowing Gets Lost in Translation for Jennifer Connelly (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jan 12th 2011 9:50AM
Jennifer Connelly Talks Glassblowing on 'Late Night'While Jennifer Connelly's husband Paul Bettany filmed in Venice, she and her children did "the stuff that all the tourists do," including taking a trip to the nearby island of Murano, famous for its centuries-old glassblowing industry.

Connelly was recognized while watching a local craftsman make Murano glass. "The owner of the factory came and said, 'You've been seeing the master, but we have a grand master ... You could see some special things that you can't otherwise see," Connelly recounted on 'Late Night' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC). "'For example... would your children like to see the grand master blow a clown?'"

"No! No!" replied Jimmy Fallon. Surely they didn't want to see that. Connelly joked, "Is that legal in Italy?"

Jennifer Connelly Compares Pregnancy Sickness to Cell Phone Service on 'Late Night' (VIDEO)

Jennifer Connelly, 'Late Show with David Letterman'While she was clearly showing, David Letterman was still nervous to come out and ask Jennifer Connelly if she was pregnant on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on CBS). It's usually better safe than sorry on that one. If there's even an inkling of uncertainty that a woman is pregnant, you don't say anything. Sure, this one was announced in mid-December, but does that really mean anything?

Most pregnant women have their pregnancy cravings, and it looks like Connelly's was pretzels and cream cheese early on. She also made a rather unique comparison when discussing her "morning sickness."

"It was ... like cell phone service sketchy," she said. "You know how you have your cell phone service and you have to stand in one spot. I have to stand in one spot in my apartment to make a phone call. It was like that with nausea."

Sci-fi remake picks up a Mad Man man

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 21st 2007 11:02AM

Jon HammWhen I first heard they were going to remake The Day The Earth Stood Still, I think I literally shivered. It's one of my favorite films (I even named a magazine after one of the characters from the 1951 classic), and the thought of it being updated for 2008 really made me grind my teeth. I can picture it now: this one will have a wise-cracking hero, the young boy will have a dog, and Klaatu will destroy whole cities before he tells the world they have to reach peace.

And Keanu Reeves is playing Klaatu. Yikes.
