Jennifer Hudson talks about her upcoming movie roles on 'Good Morning America'It's tough to find a career more diverse than Jennifer Hudson's these days. She plays the title role in 'Winnie,' about Winnie Mandela, Nelson Mandela's ex-wife. After that, she plays a drug-addicted single mom in 'Mister and Peter,' co-produced by Alicia Keys. "It's something different," said Hudson of 'Mister and Pete.' "And I like to challenge myself. Jennifer Hudson Christens a Disney Cruise Ship Where She Used to Work on 'GMA' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jan 19th 2011 1:15PM
Jennifer Hudson goes Disney on 'Good Morning America'Oscar winner and former 'American Idol' contestant Jennifer Hudson appeared on 'Good Morning America' (Weekdays, 7AM on ABC) this morning to christen a new Disney "Dream" cruise ship. It was a personal honor for Hudson, as one of her pre-'Idol' gigs was singing in the chorus on a Disney cruise ship production of 'Hercules.'

So she came to the set prepared with her own Mickey Mouse t-shirt. "I did not get this here, since I've been here," she said. "This was in my closet, and I was like, ooh, I'm going to take this and be the Disney way when I get there."

Hudson said she felt a little pressure coming back to her old job; it still seems weird to her that she's returning to a Disney cruise ship as a special celebrity guest. Of course, there was also the pressure of swinging a 16-foot bottle at a ship, but she seemed to handle that pretty well.

Which Contestants from Past 'Idol' Seasons Should the Judges Have Saved?

by Gabrielle Dunn, posted Apr 13th 2010 11:15AM
Michael JohnsSave the rocker. Save the diva. Save 'Idol.' Save the world?

'Idol' is notorious for its "shocking" results shows, but some contestants just plain go home too soon. Each season, one talented front-runner has failed to advance as far as the judges predicted, and the Judges' Save -- which allows for the 'Idol' judges to keep one eliminated contestant in the competition, despite America's having voted him or her off -- was created to solve that very problem.

Last season, it was used for pianist Matt Giraud, who ultimately placed fifth; last week, it came in handy for Michael Lynche, who must now try to avoid the dreaded double-elimination.

The rule was only introduced in season 8, but it would have been useful on 'Idol' during most prior seasons. Read on to see who we think the judges would have saved had the rule been in place from the start.

The Full Video for the 'We Are the World' Remake

by Kona Gallagher, posted Feb 13th 2010 4:02PM
we are the world remake michael jackson
The original 'We Are the World' was recorded almost exactly 25 years ago to benefit the charity, USA for Africa. Recently, 80 stars got together, including co-writer Lionel Richie and producer Quincy Jones, to remake the classic song to help with Haiti relief efforts. The video was supposed to debut last night during the Olympic opening ceremonies, but they just showed an excerpt. We have the full video here.

It's nice to see some of the same people involved in making the first video in the remake, but this version is populated by mostly new faces including Jennifer Hudson, Josh Groban, Wyclef Jean, and Kanye West, among many others. In fact, there were so many artists featured in this video, that I didn't even recognize them all. The new version is about a full minute longer than the original, and the real question is, how does it stack up?

'Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home for Christmas' (8PM, ABC)
The 'American Idol' alum, and, of course, Oscar and Grammy winner, has had an emotional couple of years that have played out very publicly, but it apparently hasn't chipped away at her Christmas spirit. In her first holiday special, Hudson returns to her hometown, Chicago, to revisit the people, places and music that helped set her on the path to stardom, including her high school and the church where her mother, nephew and brother were eulogized after their 2008 murders. In a lighter touch, Hudson pairs with fellow Grammy winner Michael Buble to croon the holiday classics 'Let It Snow' and 'Baby It's Cold Outside.'
