ABC orders In The Motherhood
That line between web content and traditional television just continues to get blurrier. ABC has ordered 13 episodes of In The Motherhood. In case you missed it, the show didn't start out with the traditional pilot formula. It's a web-based show starring Jenny McCarthy, Leah Remini, and Chelsea Handler. The three of them play girlfriends and the stories told come from real stories submitted by mothers from across the country. Or, people pretending to be mothers. You can watch it at the show's site, if you're curious.
Melissa McCarthy: In the Limelight
The name Melissa McCarthy doesn't ring a bell? No, she's not Jenny McCarthy's sister (she's her cousin). You probably know Melissa under the name Sookie St.James, Lorelai's best friend on Gilmore Girls. This gifted actress has appeared in over 20 different TV and movie projects in the past 10 years but mostly devoted her time to Gilmore, appearing in more than 150 episodes of the series.
The 37-year-old actress from Plainfield, Illinois, first performed on stage. She started her acting career by doing stand up and improv in New York. She attended The Actors Studio, where she studied drama. This led to a bunch of acting gigs in stage productions. When she moved to Los Angeles, the actress joined The Groundlings as a main cast member of this improv and sketch troupe.
Stacked coming to DVD. No, really.
Yup, the short-lived Pamela Anderson FOX sitcom (short-lived, but still somehow made it to 14 aired episodes, scattered around the schedule) is coming to DVD in a "complete series" set on December 12.
The press release for this is so over the top: "Determined to prove she has ample talents beyond her ample talents...this hip, hilarious comedy...you'll bust out laughing!" Yeah, whatever.
The set is going to include 5 unaired episodes. Those must have been the brilliant, really funny ones. There will also be a few features on it, including something called "Nipplegate" and "Show Us Your Bloopers."
Jenny McCarthy, Patricia Heaton: Together at last
I'm curious about how all of you will
react to this news. There were a lot of unkind words written when I told you about a possible
talk show for Patricia Heaton a while back. Well, she's also doing a comedy next season for ABC. And, Jenny McCarthy
signed on to co-star. I'm trying to think of two more annoying people, but I just can't.The comedy, by the way, is currently untitled. It's about a widow (Heaton) who "finds friends and a new path to life through the PTA." Because a grieving family is hi-larious.
