'Supernatural' Season 6, Episode 4 Recap
by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 17th 2010 3:45PM
['Supernatural' - 'Weekend at Bobby's'] Here's a pitch for the CW Network: Three cranky dudes, one of them a demon, two of them demon hunters, share a ramshackle old house in the middle of nowhere. When not fending off/fomenting demonic destruction or pursuing/ruling demonic creatures, they trade quips, barbs and irritated banter about the shortcomings of everyone younger and less competent than them.
Call it 'Golden Ghouls.' And I believe we got a preview of that show -- complete with a heaping helping of awesomesauce -- on Friday night.
Our Six Favorite TV Actors-Turned-Directors (Plus More from Jensen Ackles' Directorial Debut)
by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 14th 2010 6:45PM
This week's episode of 'Supernatural' marks a very special occasion for one of its stars, Jensen Ackles, the man behind badass demon hunter (and now, surprisingly adept family man) Dean Winchester. After five years lighting up the screen alongside his co-star Jared Padalecki, episode 604 -- titled 'Weekend at Bobby's' -- will see Ackles step behind the camera for his directorial debut. (Check out our special look behind the scenes of the episode here.)
Ackles' turn behind the camera got us thinking about some of our other favorite TV stars who have recently hopped into the director's chair, so we've compiled a list of six awesome actors (aside from Ackles) who have taken the helm on their own shows in the past few years -- take a peek at our picks after the jump.

'Supernatural' took a chance on a rookie director for its Oct. 15 episode, 'Weekend at Bobby's' -- star Jensen Ackles (a.k.a. Dean Winchester) helmed the episode. In the exclusive clip below, get your first look at Ackles behind the camera and on set during his first directing experience. His co-star, Jared Padalecki (who plays Sam Winchester), talks about what it was like to have Ackles behind the camera, and Jim Beaver (Bobby Singer) and Mark Sheppard (Crowley) also offer their 2 cents on the actor's turn in the director's chair.
EXCLUSIVE! Misha Collins Talks 'Supernatural' Spoilers and Never-Before-Seen Photo
by Laura Prudom, posted Sep 14th 2010 3:00PM
Last week, TV Squad caught up with 'Supernatural' star Misha Collins to talk about his new charity, Random Acts, a collective of fans, volunteers and all-around good people who are trying to make the world a better place.Since then, Collins has successfully completed his marathon, running a total of 83 kilometers (a staggering 52 miles) to raise money for Random Acts' various projects, including helping those affected by the recent disasters in Haiti and Pakistan. The effort has currently amassed over $75,000, with the final total expected to be closer to $100,000.
But when Collins isn't saving the world, he has a day job to go back to, playing the role of the angel Castiel on 'Supernatural,' and when we last spoke at Creation Entertainment's Salute to Supernatural convention, we couldn't resist grabbing some spoilers from everyone's favorite heavenly helper on what we can expect from the new season (premiering Sept. 24 at 9PM on the CW).
Join us after the jump for a spoilery video and an exclusive, never before seen photo of Collins that you won't find anywhere else.
First Look: Mitch Pileggi Meets the Winchesters On 'Supernatural'
by Maureen Ryan, posted Aug 27th 2010 9:15AM
Really, seriously, my new TV column debuts Wednesday, Sept. 1. That's my story and I'm sticking to it -- I'm not going to post again until then. Probably. But once again a tasty TV morsel arrived in my email inbox and I just had to share it with my fellow 'Supernatural' addicts. It's the first photo from Season 6 of the show, which returns Fri., Sept. 24, 9PM ET on the CW. (Don't forget that the show moves to Fridays. Get those season passes in order.)
Behold Mitch Pileggi -- a.k.a. Grandpa Samuel -- with both Dean and Sam Winchester (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki). Of course Dean met Samuel in a Season 4 episode, 'In the Beginning,' but both Winchesters will get to know their grandfather much better this season.
Pileggi, a reliably excellent character actor who has appeared on everything from 'The X-Files' to 'Sons of Anarchy,' will have a recurring role in Season 6 as a patriarch of the Campbell side of the family, which has been hunting weird and wild critters since the Mayflower landed. Corin Nemec and Jessica Heafey play other members of the Campbell clan in Season 6.
Below, you'll find the CW's description of the Season 6 premiere, 'Exile on Main Street,' which was written by executive producer and showrunner Sera Gamble and directed by Phil Sgriccia.
'Supernatural' Showrunner Sera Gamble Talks Monsters, Parenthood and the Impala
by Laura Prudom, posted Aug 12th 2010 6:30PM
It's a good year to be Sera Gamble. Having been involved with the CW's cult hit 'Supernatural' since its inception, Gamble has confidently ascended the ranks from writer to executive producer to her latest role as showrunner of the stalwart drama, which is now entering its sixth season. TV Squad caught up with Gamble at the Television Critics Association's press tour to pick her brain on what's in store for Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) in season 6, and just what's become of everyone's favorite classic car.
Spoilers ahead.

Jane After Dark: 'Supernatural' Season Five - Is the Apocalypse Happening or What?!
by Jane Boursaw, posted May 2nd 2010 11:00AM

I've been watching 'Supernatural' for Jane After Dark, my weekly column chronicling all the TV shows I watch on DVD into the wee hours. I'm now up to season five, episode 11, 'Sam, Interrupted,' and frankly, this season's been a little slow going.
After the dark powers that gripped the Winchester boys in season four, it almost seems like the writers have forgotten all about the fact that Sam unleashed Lucifer onto the world in the season four finale. You would think that once the Devil had escaped from the depths of Hell, he'd be running roughshod over the planet.
Jane After Dark: 'Supernatural' - Season Four Ends, the Apocalypse Begins
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 17th 2010 11:05AM

You know how I told you guys I'd probably finish season four of 'Supernatural' and then wait for season five to be released on DVD? Yeah, that's not gonna happen. After watching the season four finale, I immediately started buying episodes of season five from iTunes (I couldn't find a good place to see them online for free - if you know of any, pass the word along). At this writing, I'm just about to watch 'The End.'
The mythology has really kicked into high gear during seasons four and five, and if perchance demons destroyed all the ways I could watch season five, I'd have to break into Eric Kripke's office and steal the scripts so I could find out what happens next.
Jane After Dark: 'Supernatural' - Doesn't Anyone Stay Dead on This Show?
by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 27th 2010 4:25PM

Seriously, doesn't anyone stay dead on 'Supernatural'? Not that I'm complaining. I was devastated at the end of season three when Dean was attacked by the hell hound and dragged off to hell, and pretty excited when he was yanked back to life. I kept waiting for some big reveal that his resurrection was all a dream or alternate universe or something, but after meeting the angel Castiel, I'm convinced that Dean is back for real.
It's interesting. I kept wondering why Dean had gone to hell rather than heaven, because he's a good person doing good things in the world, so why wouldn't he go to heaven? On the other hand, Dean didn't believe in heaven or God or angels up to this point, so maybe that would automatically send him to hell? Nah, I'm not buying that.
Sam and Dean Fight Zombies on 'Supernatural' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 26th 2010 7:00AM
The havoc on 'Supernatural' reached flesh-eating proportions last night when the Winchester brothers were forced to contend with a town of zombies. The walking dead are pretty creepy in general, but a zombie kid covered in blood is enough to make us watch the scene through our fingers.
Bullets and blood fly as Dean (Jensen Ackles) gets in a tight spot, but he's seen enough zombie movies to know they aren't the brightest of creatures. This might be the bloodiest we've ever seen The CW.
Watch the video after the jump.
Jane After Dark: 'Supernatural' - Dean's Deal With the Crossroads Demon
by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 14th 2010 4:50PM

Hey, 'Supernatural' fans. Well, I'm into season three now, after a short break last week to recover from season two. I was sort of bummed out the way it ended and needed some time to get my wits together. I was majorly sad about Dean's deal with the Crossroads demon to save Sam. It was a tough spot, to be sure. He had to save his brother; on the other hand, how will Sam feel when Dean's gone in a year? Clearly, I've got too much invested in these characters.
Jane After Dark: 'Supernatural' - What Does Dean Know?
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 27th 2010 6:00PM
Hey, 'Supernatural' fans. Well, I'm part-way into season two, and I have to say, I was utterly depressed after watching the first episode, 'In My Time of Dying.' But of course, I forged ahead anyway. It seems there's always a way to bring people back after they die on this show. Things aren't set in stone at all. Which is exactly why it's hard to think that Sam could go to the dark side, or that he's harboring some deep, dark demonic thing. According to Gordon, that dark side is going to come out and be a really bad guy. Apparently, John Winchester felt that way, too, before he died. That's why he told Dean that if he couldn't save Sam, he'd have to kill him.
Jane After Dark: 'Supernatural' is Approaching 'Buffy' Territory
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 21st 2010 11:03AM

Even though some episodes still scare the crap out of me, I'm really getting into 'Supernatural.' I know this because it's tough trying to do other work while I'm watching it at night. Impossible, really. Instead, I use it as my own little incentive program -- edit this post, watch five minutes of 'Supernatural,' write up that review, watch five minutes of 'Supernatural.' Cubicle workers have bonuses and rewards programs, I have 'Supernatural.'
