Big Brother 8: Live feeds update - August 31

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Aug 31st 2007 9:16AM
Daniele works it at the HOH CompYes, I'm here a bit earlier than usual. No, I'm not really a morning person. But in my grief over my favorite houseguest Amber leaving the Big Brother 8 house last night, I couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned all night. I looked to the skies for a vision.

Or not.

What I did do was watch the Head of House competition play out on the live feeds. I settled in with a soft drink and a snack thinking it might take hours. And, it did.

How many hours? Read on beyond the jump! Beware -- show spoilers for Sunday night ahead!

Amber on the hot seat.

(S08E25)
The only thing more annoying than watching Amber on this season of Big Brother is, wait a second...

I actually can't think of anything more annoying. I'm pretty sure there's plenty of stuff out there, but I'm just too agitated to think of it right now.

I can't remember another person on a reality show that has aggravated me to the same extent as Amber. I hated her holier than thou attitude, I hated the tear factory that resided on her face, and I hated the constant swearing on her daughter's life. I haven't even mentioned the antisemitic fiasco from a few weeks back, but I hated that as well.

Amber seeks a new vision.Don't forget! Tonight is the live Big Brother 8 eviction show! Live in some areas, at least. You might want to check your local listings. Due to pre-season football games, the show is preempted in many areas. In some, it's showing after the late night shows, in other areas it might air on a sister station.

Of all nights for the show to air at 1:37 AM for me! Have I ever mentioned that I'm not a football fan? Feh. Either Amber or Zach will leave tonight. One will become the third member on the jury, one will stay on shaky ground inside the house.

To read about the latest from within that Big Brother House of Oddfellows and Way Out Women, read on past the jump -- beware, there will be spoilers!

Jameka looks for help from aboveI know you must all be on pins and needles wondering whether it will be Zach or Amber going home tomorrow on Big Brother 8. Will the Little Julie Chen Alliance (Eric, Jessica, Daniele, Evel Dick) stick together in their voting? Did America want America's Player to vote out Amber due to her incessant weeping?

One non-spoiler I feel I need to mention to show fans -- look at your local listings for tomorrow night's show! Football is preempting the live show in many areas, east and west. Here in the NYC area, it's not going to be shown until 1:37 AM on Friday.

Spoilers after the jump!

Eric and Jessica hug.

(S08E24)
Eric is either playing an extremely brilliant game of Big Brother or an incredibly stupid one.

Okay, that's not entirely fair. His game play has been pretty impeccable up until this point, especially when you factor the curve balls thrown at him with the America's player challenges

That said, I really find myself questioning his decision not to use the Power of Veto to target at least one his two biggest rivals in the house. Namely, a member of the Donato Duo.

Big Brother 8' Daniele DonatoAs the eviction day on Big Brother 8 looms closer, just what have those happy hamsters in the house been up to? Have there been fisticuffs? Perhaps a brouhaha or two? Or, better yet ... a clandestine relationship between Amber and Zach?

You know ... share the block, share the love.

Although Tuesday is generally not a huge spoilers day, beware that if you read beyond the jump there will be spoilers for the Tuesday show if you haven't seen it yet and possibly for future shows.

You've been warned.

Big Brother 8's Eric looks confidentTomorrow night's Big Brother 8 television show will include the Power of Veto competition, the Power of Veto ceremony and the America's Player task. Like Amber, I had a vision. I already know the outcome of these events. It was divine intervention. It had to be. I looked to the heavens and the answers came to me.

Um, either that or I have the 24/7 live feeds from the house. Since divine intervention doesn't seem to visit my life often, I guess it's the feeds.

If you want to know spoilers for Tuesday's show, read on past the jump.

Amber wants to be a model.

(S08E23) It was kind of a lite night in the Big Brother 8 house, but I found it to be a nice departure from the chaos that ensued during most of last week's episode.

Outside of a setback in Dick and Daniele's relationship, there wasn't a great deal of conflict tonight. In fact, I found a bulk of the episode to be on the amusing side with the highlight arriving when Jameka told Amber that she should pursue a career in modeling once the show is over.

Yes, you read that correctly. I just typed "Amber" and "a career in modeling" in the same sentence.

Jen cries again.

(S08E22) Tonight's episode of Big Brother was very Jen-centric which is a good thing in my book.

After several weeks of insanity in the beginning, Jen appeared to consciously take a back seat in the day to day happenings of the house.

Sure, there was an occasional episode where she rubbed Dick the wrong way or made a poorly received comment to Daniele, but for the most part she didn't stir up as much trouble as early sequences in the house seemed to allude to.

That all changed tonight. Jen went right back into crazy mode and while I might be in the minority, I found most of her actions completely justifiable.

Eric and Jessica wrestle.
(S08E21) I can't tell if Eric has game but doesn't realize it or if he's simply trying to stay focused on winning this season of Big Brother.

It's probably a combination of both and regardless of which one it is, he's got a budding showmance burning to happen and he absolutely refuses to embrace it.

He's basically the anti-Nick. Chances are if Nick hadn't gotten so smitten with Daniele early in the game, he'd be in the house right now thinking of new things to do with facial hair and hair gel.

I'd hate to see Eric make a similar mistake, and I commend him for fighting off the temptations of an attractive woman.

Amber cries on Daniele's shoulder.

(S08E20) It's day 46 in the Big Brother house and all seems well ever since King Dustin was sacked last Thursday.

Dustin really was a lightning rod for discontent among the house guests and it took him leaving before I was really able to pick up on this point. While the typical strategizing and maneuvering could be witnessed in the background, the house had an overall air of serenity in tonight's episode.

The house guests interacted with one another peacefully, talked out their differences in a calm and collected manner, and some even found the time to get a little frivolous as you'll read after the jump.

All in all, it was a nice change of pace to see some levity after weeks and weeks of crying, bitching, and screaming. I wonder how long the peace is going to last.

Chen gives her monologue.

(S08E19) "Never before has one house guest gone as far to protect another house guest." - Chenbot

How true, how true. If Evel isn't back in good graces with Daniele after this, he should just wash his hands of her completely, sell any bad photos of her he has to the first tabloid that calls, and hook up with her best girlfriend. And how appropriate that Dick potentially gave up his chance at $500K when it appeared to be money that caused their falling out in the first place.

This is probably one of the best turn of events in Big Brother history. A father/daughter reunion that goes from bad to okay to now possibly setting the stage to take over the game? Come on!

Would Daniele have done the same thing for her dad? Judging by her reaction later on in the show, it sounds like she wouldn't have. Damn those youngsters and their inability to appreciate what their parents do for them.

Dick looks smugly at his advesaries.
(S08E18) This season of Big Brother has given me a serious case of bipolar disorder.

With the exception of Amber, who I've pretty much despised the entire way, it feels like I can't make it from one episode to the next without having wild shifts in who I'm rooting for and who I want to get evicted from the house.

The party most responsible for my waffling is without question the Evel one. I started out the season loving his honesty, found myself hating his cruelness, but now find myself rooting for him again after he went kamikaze on Dustin, Jameka, Eric, and Amber in an effort to save his once estranged daughter.

Dick and Jameka have a blow out.

(S08E17) The stress level was so high in the first 30 minutes of tonight's show that I could physically feel an ulcer forming in the lining of my stomach.

I'm all for conflict in Big Brother. In fact, I probably wouldn't even watch this show if it didn't exist, but we're 16 episodes into the season and I've about hit my saturation point.

Sure, Dick has a tendency to be spot on with his comments while he's belittling the likes of Dustin, Amber, and Eric, but it doesn't make it any less uncomfortable to watch or any less trying on the mind.

Amber hugs her daughter.

(S08E16) So, does anyone want to go halfsies with me and purchase a life insurance policy on Amber's daughter?

Heaven forbid anything happen to her, but as much as Amber swears on her life, it's inevitable that someday her daughter will casually go walking down the street on a cloudless day and get struck by a rogue bolt of lightning - mark my words.

Seriously though, what does swearing on your child's life actually mean in the context of a game like Big Brother? I have a daughter, and I'd swear on her life 1000 times a day if it brought me closer to a $500K prize, mostly because that money would end bettering the life of the daughter I kept swearing on.
