Soulmates on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted May 25th 2010 12:10AM
Soulmates on 'The Big Bang Theory'You would think that online dating -- with its use of computers, the Internet, and mathematical algorithms -- would appeal to a fairly geeky guy like Sheldon (Jim Parsons). But if you thought that, you might be wrong. On 'The Big Bang Theory' (Mon., 9:30PM ET on CBS), Sheldon's friends create an Internet dating profile for him. But conflict -- followed by possible romance -- is the end result.

Sheldon in the Middle on 'The Big Bang Theory'A couple has split up on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Mon., 9PM ET on CBS). Yes, Penny and Leonard (Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki) are no longer together. Which is sad.

But what's even more sad is the effect their breakup has on Sheldon (Jim Parsons). Even though the pair has broken up, they still live across the hallway in the same building -- and Sheldon is caught in the middle.

Losing the Bet on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 13th 2010 2:50AM
Losing the Bet on 'The Big Bang Theory'On the latest episode of 'The Big Bang Theory' (Mon., 9:30PM ET on CBS), Sheldon loses a bet. And the consequence of Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons) losing that bet is as follows: the losers must show up dressed as female super-heroes. And so, the gang shows up dressed as -- well, a bunch of girl super-heroines. Can you name all of the comic book characters that are involved? Well, if you're a huge fan of 'The Big Bang Theory' and/or a huge nerd, it shouldn't be a problem at all!

Sheldon Cooper May Get a 'Big Bang'

by Brad Trechak, posted Mar 27th 2010 1:00PM
The Big Bang TheoryIt seems that the producers of 'The Big Bang Theory' have decided it's time for Jim Parson's character of Sheldon Cooper to have a girlfriend. Mayim Bialik will appear on the season finale of the sitcom as Sheldon's date, a potentially recurring role.

This has serious shark-jumping disaster potential. Sheldon has been repeatedly shown in the past as having zero interest in a romantic relationship. It's one of the hallmarks of the character. He's even rejected Danica McKellar.

On the other hand, the major event could be him simply feeling his age and wishing to procreate his genius. He'll probably run out of other options such as cloning. Also, Bialik's character is described as a female version of Sheldon, perhaps she's seeking a "brain-only" relationship, too.

Still, it does seem a bit like selling out. Romantic relationships are in every sitcom, but I was hoping 'The Big Bang Theory' wouldn't succumb to sitcom peer pressure and keep some of the elements that made it unique. We'll see how this change of character is executed before any final judgments are made.

'Big Bang Theory' Set Visit: Are Leonard and Penny Headed for a Big Break-Up?

by Laura Prudom, posted Mar 24th 2010 3:00PM

From Ross and Rachel to Booth and Brennan, "will they/won't they" couples have become a staple part of our TV diet, with shows often dangling the carrot of love above viewers' heads right up until the very last episode. But CBS' geektastic comedy 'The Big Bang Theory' is way too smart (literally) for that, deciding to forgo the frustration and get right down to the romance after finally hooking up nerdy Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and vivacious Penny (Kaley Cuoco) at the start of season three.

But the course of true love never did run smooth. AOL TV recently stopped by the 'Big Bang Theory' set to get the inside scoop from all five 'Big Bang' cast members, and we think fans will be surprised by what they had to say. Check out our spoilertastic interview after the jump.

Sheldon Gets Drunk on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Mar 22nd 2010 11:52PM
Sheldon on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Mon., 9:30PM ET on CBS) already has a lot of trouble interacting with other, normal human beings. But on a night when he has to give a big speech, additional problems arise. What to do? How to build up the courage? Why, through drinking lots of alcohol, of course!

Unfortunately, fans of the show already know that Sheldon (Jim Parsons) has zero tolerance for alcohol. And so disaster -- predictably -- ensues. Remember: Working up your nerve before a big speech is very important. But even more important than that is remembering to wear your pants.

Sheldon Goes All Gollum on 'Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

Sheldon turns into Gollum on 'The Big Bang Theory' We laughed out loud when Sheldon called the ring "my precious," then looked in the mirror to see that he's become Gollum from 'Lord of the Rings.'

No other show does the geek factor as well as 'The Big Bang Theory' (Mon., 9:30PM ET on CBS), which is why we love both it and Sheldon Cooper. We're onboard for as long as it lasts.

Let's just hope Sheldon doesn't start seeing a big fiery eye in the sky.

Sheldon Crashes Stan Lee's House on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

The Big Bang Theory, Stan LeeIt's gotta be a major thrill for Sheldon to hang with Stan Lee on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Mon., 9:30PM ET on CBS). Especially since the last time they were supposed to meet, Sheldon ended up in jail.

Still, dude. Crashing your hero's pad when he's in his pajamas? Thirty lashes with a wet Spider-Man comic book.

Wil Wheaton Will Return to 'Big Bang Theory'

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 19th 2010 4:34PM
The Big Bang Theory
It looks like producers of television's geekiest show (after 'Face the Nation,' I mean), 'The Big Bang Theory,' were happy with Wil Wheaton's guest appearance a while back because they have invited him to do the show once again. The show got a big ratings boost when our old friend played Sheldon's enemy on the show earlier this season, which was funny because he was playing himself.

He calls himself "evil Wil Wheaton." He got the official word this morning that the episode is a go and he'll tape it on March 2. If this turns into a semi-regular thing, where he returns to the show every once in a great while to torment Sheldon, they should have a surprise other cast member from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' to come on and challenge Wheaton or get in the middle of things. I can picture Jonathan Frakes or Brent Spiner doing that.

'Big Bang' Bazinga! Could Sheldon Be Gay?

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 10th 2010 9:00AM
big_bang_theory_jim_parsonsAs his 'Star Trek' hero Mr. Spock might say, this is 'fascinating.' When Chuck Lorre was asked to define Sheldon Cooper's sexual orientation on 'The Big Bang Theory,' his answer wasn't gay. It wasn't straight. Not even asexual or nonsexual or unsexual. Lorre settled on the term 'other,' for Sheldon.

Lorre told Michael Ausiello in Entertainment Weekly that Sheldon's focus is not on the physical; it's on physics. And when Ausiello asked 'Big Bang Theory' star Jim Parsons what he thought, Parsons said that the object of Sheldon's affection would be the Nobel Prize, not another human being. Hearing the word that Dr. Sheldon Cooper has been awarded the Nobel Prize in theoretical physics would be Sheldon's turn on. "That's the warm embrace that he longs for," said Jim.

Review: 'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Large Hadron Collision'

by Joel Keller, posted Feb 9th 2010 12:23PM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Hadron Collision'(S03E15) I'm pinch-hitting for Kona this week due to technical difficulties at the Gallagher homestead. Not sure if I can be the quote machine she is, but you can always add your favorite quotes from the episode into the comments.

You know, I've never been one to take Sheldon's side a lot of the time. As much as I love the character and how Jim Parsons plays him, the fact that a guy who's such a pill can have four people in his life who like him and tolerate his weird, Aspberger-like selfishness should be enough for me to connect to as a viewer. Most of the time, when Sheldon is wreaking havoc over his friends' lives, I'm usually feeling bad for whoever it is -- usually Leonard -- that's getting the brunt of Sheldon's utter Sheldonness.

But this week, I was on Team Sheldon. Why? Because Leonard knows Sheldon would appreciate a trip to the CERN super collider a whole lot more than Penny would, even if the lure of Penny in a snow bunny outfit is a strong one to resist.

Super-Colliders, Switzerland and Sheldon on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 9th 2010 12:33AM
The Big Bang Theory - The Large Hadron CollisionSheldon is soooo excited! Turns out the University is sending Leonard to Switzerland to see the CERN Super-Collider – and he can bring a guest! Well, Sheldon automatically thinks HE will be Leonard's plus-one at the event. "This is incredible!" says Sheldon. "I'm so happy, I'm not even going to question their judgment in picking you!"

Not so fast! Of course, Leonard will want to take Penny, especially since the trip happens on Valentine's Day. But will she be all that geeked about subatomic particle research? Either way, it's just awkward all the way around. Watch 'The Big Bang Theory' on Mon., 9:30PM on CBS.

Jim Parsons Stands Up 2 Cancer and It's Great

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 5th 2010 9:00AM
jim_parsons_the_big_bang_theoryAs Dr. Sheldon Cooper on 'The Big Bang Theory,' Jim Parsons is a big bang of funny week in and week out. Oh, yes, he's not working alone. He has a wonderful group of actors around him and they're also very funny characters. But the breakout star on that show from the very start has been Jim.

But is it the character or the actor? Hmm ... if only there was a way to see Jim doing something else. Well, ta-da, here it is. Watch this public service announcement created by the folks at Stand Up to Cancer. If you had any doubt that Jim Parsons is a comic wizard, this will dispel them.
