Dexter: Easy As Pie
by Debra McDuffee, posted Nov 9th 2008 11:29PM

(S03E07) A lot of significant events happened in tonight's episode of Dexter. What to make of the title, "Easy As Pie?" I think it refers to Dexter being able to make decisions. All his life, he's lived by Harry's code. Now, as we see him breaking it, or deciding whether or not he should break it, we see things being easier for Dexter.
Far be it from me to reveal anything before the jump, like the fact that Rita is pregnant or that Dexter is a serial killer (whoops -- did I just give something away?). Join me after the break to analyze tonight's plot points.
Dexter: Si Se Puede

(S03E06) After the way last week's episode ended, I could hardly wait for tonight's episode. The title loosely translates to "If You Can," and I wondered how this theme would play out through the episode, as the Dexter themes always do.
The way I see it, "If You Can" hits on so many levels.
Can Miguel stomach the kills like Dexter does? Can Dexter share his dark passenger with Miguel?
I guess we won't find out anytime soon, thanks to Dexter's good sense finally kicking in after weeks of making me a nervous wreck. I'm glad Dexter trusted Miguel enough for Miguel to prove that he really is a true friend to Dexter, but I breathed a huge sigh of relief that Dexter did not kill in front of Miguel.

And that stands true tonight. We knew nearly everything that was going to happen, yet still I sat breathless, watching with my mouth hanging open, as the episode unfolded. Predictable? Yep. Boring? Never.
Dexter: The Lion Sleeps Tonight

(S03E03) I found this episode of Dexter to be the funniest so far. I know they aren't exactly going for a dramedy here, but the comedic relief in tonight's episode was priceless. Then again, when Dexter brutally strangles someone, I suppose we needed the change in mood.
The best part? Dexter's voiceovers. Voiceovers can be a tricky thing, and of the shows I watch, only Dexter and Burn Notice get it right. The title of the episode is reflected throughout the voiceovers, with lion and hunting comparisons while Dexter is interacting with the pedophile. These are tightly written and woven seamlessly throughout the episode.

(S03E02) Maybe the tone of this season seems slightly less sinister, but I am liking it all the same. Then again, with Dexter creeping around in the dark rain, murdering another victim, how can we claim less sinister?
What do you think about the way that they addressed Maria and the whole Bay Harbor Butcher issue? I was really wondering how she still could retain her position of power at the force when she was clearly impaired by her feelings for Doakes at the end of last season. They really left this hanging at the end of last season, and although they weakly tied it up in this episode, I still feel like Maria may not be quite done with the issue.
Dexter: Our Father (season premiere)

Deb has turned over a new leaf: no drinking, no men and no smokes -- at least she still swears like a truck driver because I'd sure miss that. She sports a short, sassy new haircut to go with her no-nonsense new 'tude. She may be able to stick with the no smoking, but will she succumb to the men or booze first?
What are they going to do with Rita's pregnancy? No good can come of this, I assure you. Dexter as a dad only works part-time for me; I can't picture him without his bachelor pad, his privacy, his little haven complete with research laptop and hidden slides of blood.
Dexter season 3 -- an early look

I've been lucky enough to see the first four episodes of the season, and you really, really don't want to miss them. Really. They continue where season two left off, and I surely don't miss the obnoxious, vile Lilah. I don't want to give anything away, but here are some tidbits:
