Joan Rivers Warns America: She Still Has Three Frozen Eggs Left (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Feb 1st 2011 6:25PM
Joan and Melissa Rivers on 'Rachael Ray'To call Joan Rivers a survivor would be an understatement. She had to fight just to get out of the gate in the male-dominated world of comedy in the 60s, and has weathered personal tragedy and career upheaval. Today on 'Rachael Ray' (Weekdays, Syndicated) Rivers talked about the survival of her family name.

Rivers said she would like her daughter, Melissa, to have another baby. But if that fails, the 77-year-old comedian and reality TV star has a back-up plan. "I still have three eggs left," she said. "I have them frozen. Betty White, that old [expletive], she told me where to freeze your eggs."

"I could just surprise everybody," she said. Not the least of which would be the kid, who would have to be raised Futurama-style by Rivers' preserved head in a jar.

Joan Rivers Takes Her Grandson to the Beach, Where His Nanny Takes Her Top Off (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jan 26th 2011 1:40AM
'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?'Joan Rivers has moved in with her daughter Melissa. That's all you need to know for the premise of 'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?' (Tue., 9PM on WE). The new reality show spotlights Joan as she finds her place in Melissa's life.

Right off the bat, she got an intimate encounter with Melissa's nanny. Joan went with her and Cooper to the beach, and while the boy ran off to boogie board, his nanny asked "Ms. Rivers" to put lotion on her back.

Now, she was wearing a string bikini top, and apparently that pesky string was too much on her back. But rather than just have Joan work around it, the nanny just decided to remove her top completely.

Kimmel to Joan Rivers: You Are Tormenting Your Daughter (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jan 25th 2011 5:00AM
Joan Rivers Talks New Show on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Jimmy Kimmel has seen the first two episodes of 'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?' -- the new reality series that features Joan moving in with her daughter Melissa. "It's very entertaining, but why are you tormenting your daughter?" he teased Joan when she visited 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC).

Melissa was offered $400,000 to pose naked in a "Hollywood Moms Gone Wild" video and turned it down. "Is she out of her mind?!" Joan said. So -- as evidenced by the clip Kimmel showed -- Joan took matters into her own hands. She snuck into the bathroom and filmed Melissa in the shower. "The title of the show should be 'My Mother Is a Maniac,'" said the host.

Joan and Melissa Rivers Discuss Living Together on Their New Reality Show

by Kelly Woo, posted Jan 24th 2011 12:00PM
Joan and Melissa RiversIf parts of Joan and Melissa Rivers' new reality series seem incredible, well, that's just how they live.

"It's a normal life in very extraordinary circumstances," Melissa Rivers told us when the mother-daughter duo stopped by our office. "So what is normal is heightened. It's a cracked-out Norman Rockwell."

'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?' (premiering Tuesday at 9PM ET on WE) follows Joan as she moves into Melissa's California home. And as close as they have been, mother and daughter soon realize that living together as adults is a pain in the you-know-what.

We talked to Joan and Melissa about what they learned living together, their thoughts on Ricky Gervais and the retiring Regis Philbin, and the confrontation they had with a certain 'Fashion Police' victim ...

Did Fox News Cancel a Joan Rivers Interview Because She Said Sarah Palin's 'Stupid'?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jan 21st 2011 8:35AM
Joan RiversIt's been reported that Fox News canceled a scheduled interview with Joan Rivers after she called Sarah Palin "stupid and a threat" and blamed her for the attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

According to The Guardian, nixing Rivers has reinforced the growing perception in some quarters that Fox News is promoting Palin -- a Fox host -- and protecting her from criticism.

Comedienne Rivers made her comments in an interview with TMZ, during which she was asked if Palin should be US President. She replied: "I think Sarah Palin is an amazing woman. I think she represents everything strong a woman can be, and I think she should go someplace -- to another planet -- to show them, and get out of our face."

Joan Rivers Claims She 'Found' Oprah Winfrey (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Jan 5th 2011 6:08PM
Is Joan Rivers responsible for Oprah Winfrey's meteoric success?

"I Found (Oprah)" Rivers proclaimed on 'Anderson Cooper 360' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN.) " I found her in Chicago and fought with 'The 'Tonight Show' (which Rivers often guest hosted in the '80s) to bring her on. And I was the first person to put her on national television."

Given this, Winfrey and Rivers must be close, right?

"Haven't been on (her) show since," Rivers joked. "She's not fuzzy about me, obviously." ("I've been on every now and then," Rivers later said.)

Last June, the National Enquirer reported that Rivers had been telling people that Oprah was "The biggest phony in the world," which perhaps could have contributed to the lack of fuzziness between the two women.

Chelsea Handler, Joan Rivers and Joel McHale? Yes, Please!

by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 29th 2010 7:00PM
I don't wish to sound less than patriotic, but there are certain things our American cousins enjoy which we here in Canada must do without. An affordable and reliable postal system for example. Black Friday shopping. And until today, the E! Channel.

Some of these are easier to live without than others. Who really needs snail mail anyway? And it would take one hell of a sale to make a dent in our enormous sales taxes. But living without the E! Channel means that rap songs have less meaning, that the covers of People and US Weekly magazines are incomprehensible, and that we think of Chelsea Handler primarily as an author. It's intolerable to wallow in such ignorance and I'm glad something is finally being done about it.

On 'The Graham Norton Show' (Sat., 10PM ET on BBC America), host Norton asks Knoxville how much longer he can keep doing this sort of thing. Is the stuntman getting too old? Fellow guest Joan Rivers defends Johnny's honor, saying that he's not over the hill yet. "Just enjoy yourself," she told him.

Joan Rivers Talks Betty White Stealing Jobs and Angelina Jolie's Family (VIDEO)

Joan Rivers Talks Betty White, Angelina on 'Late Night'Joan Rivers seems to be having some trouble getting work these days. "It gets hard as you get older," says the comedienne on 'Late Night' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC). "And then Betty White, that old bitch, came back ... took [the] Snickers [ad] right [beep] away from me," Rivers jokes, adding that she -- not Jamie Lee Curtis -- would have been perfect for Activia's campaign.

Making matters worse, Rivers doesn't enjoy living with her daughter Melissa for the WE reality show 'Mother Knows Best.' Apparently, this puts her in contact with "big vagina lips -- Angelina Jolie" and "those horrible children." She says Brad Pitt "doesn't know where the hell he is." And when Jolie talks about her UN work, Rivers makes an acerbic suggestion.

Technically she wasn't banned, but she got on Johnny Carson's blacklist. Years ago she was the permanent guest hostess who filled in for Carson on 'The Tonight Show.'

When she told him she was leaving to do her own (competing) show, "He slammed the phone down ... and never spoke to me again -- ever, ever, ever."

She hasn't been booked on the program since.

Joan Rivers Talks Hecklers, Documentary on 'Larry King'Joan Rivers appeared on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN) to discuss her fearless stand-up act and the revealing new documentary 'Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.' Larry King mentioned a scene from the film in which the father of a deaf child began to heckle the feisty comedienne during a Helen Keller joke.

"You really laced into him ... Didn't you feel anything personal for him?" asked King.

"Terribly sad," said Rivers. "How sad that a person comes to see a comedy show -- what do you think you're going to hear? ... And you're so angry that you stand up and scream, 'I've got a deaf child!' The pain that that man was feeling."
