Joanna Garcia Vacations with Reba McEntire, Had 'Reba' Cast in Her Wedding (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 14th 2011 2:53AM
Joanna Garcia Swisher, 'Chelsea Lately'For six seasons, Joanna Garcia ('Better with You') played Cheyenne on 'Reba.' While the show has been off the air since 2007, Garcia revealed on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!) that she and the cast remain close and it's all thanks to Reba McEntire.

"When we started the show, Reba was all about family and bringing everybody together," she explained. "It brought us to be this close-knit group of people."

So close that not only do they vacation together but both McEntire and co-star Melissa Peterman were bridesmaids at Garcia's recent wedding to Nick Swisher, while co-star Christopher Rich officiated the ceremony. How many successful sitcom casts can boast that kind of bond four years after their show goes off the air?

JoAnna Garcia Discusses Her Fake 'Better With You' Boobs on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Sep 28th 2010 1:31PM
The View'Better With You' star JoAnna Garcia was on 'The View' (weekdays at 11AM ET on ABC) talking about her boobs. Her fake boobs, to be precise. No, she hasn't had surgery to enhance them, we're talking prosthetics, since her character is pregnant on the show. She wants them as big as she can possibly get them. Don't we all.

Let's just say that it isn't the most profound discussion they've had on this show.

'Better With You' Series Premiere -- A Very Short Engagement (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 23rd 2010 1:00AM
'Better With You' Series Premiere -- A Very Short EngagementThe new sitcom 'Better With You' (Wed., 8:30PM ET on ABC) follows the lives of several very different couples. Maddie and Ben (Jennifer Finnigan and Josh Cooke) have been dating for nine years, but have not yet taken the "next step," and tied the knot. Meanwhile, Maddie's younger sister Mia (Joanna Garcia) has decided to marry Casey (Jake Lacy) -- a guy who she's only known for seven weeks. And on the premiere episode, Mia is forced to reveal the reason for the very rushed engagement.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

While having dinner with their parents, Mia is compelled to spill the beans during an argument with her sister. "Call me old-fashioned," Maddie says, "but I think it's appropriate to apply a little thought before making huge life choices." Then, Maddie starts protesting Mia's decision. "Why in the world does she have to get married right now?!"

"Because she's pregnant!" replies her boyfriend Ben. Oh, okay. That makes sense then.

Joanna Garcia & Jennifer Finnigan Talk 'Better With You' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 9th 2010 2:15PM
Better With YouWhen it comes to relationship comedies, it sometimes feels like we've seen it all -- couples in love, lust and those that are eternally monogamous. But 'Better With You' (premieres Wed., Sept. 22, 8:30PM ET on ABC) gives us all three.

The sitcom follows two sisters who could not be more different: methodical Maddie (Jennifer Finnigan) has been with her boyfriend for nine years, with no plans to marry ("it's a valid life choice"). Her impusive little sis Mia (Joanna Garcia) just met a guy and they're already engaged and expecting. And their parents are 35-year veterans to the whole marriage game so, of course, they have a unique perspective on the whole thing.

I caught up with Jennifer and Joanna to find out more about the men in their onscreen lives, their hysterical TV parents and how they're both surprisingly like the characters they're playing.

Pilot Watch: 'Better With You'

by Joel Keller, posted Aug 17th 2010 11:28AM
The cast of 'Better With You' on ABC
In our continuing effort to get you ready for the upcoming fall season, we're previewing pilots that were sent to critics earlier this summer.

Keep in mind that in each case, our opinions are based on a pilot that could be completely recast and reworked between now and the fall. Some of those changes have already been announced.

Show: 'Better With You'
Network: ABC
Timeslot: Wednesdays, 8:30PM ET
(Premieres September 22)

The lowdown:
This is yet another comedy about three couples in different phases of their respective relationships, but at least they're all one family. Maddie and Ben (Jennifer Finnegan and Josh Cooke) have been together for nine years but have never wanted to get married, calling it a "valid life choice" (more on that catchphrase later). Meanwhile, Maddie's more carefree younger sister Mia (JoAnna Garcia) is excited about her relationship with Casey (Jake Lacy), and it's so far along after less than two months that she's a) pregnant, and b) engaged ... in that order. Mia and Maddie clash over the various states of their relationships, and all four try to figure out how to break the news about Mia and Casey to Mia and Maggie's parents, Joel and Vicky (Kurt Fuller, Debra Jo Rupp).

Joanna Garcia On 'Revenge of the Bridesmaids,' Her New Fall Show, 'Privileged' Fans & George Steinbrenner

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jul 14th 2010 4:30PM
JoAnna GarciaYou know the old expression, always the bridesmaid, never the bride? Well in the case of 'Revenge of the Bridesmaids' (premiering Sun., July 18, 8PM ET), a new ABC Family movie, it's much better to be the ones in hideous dresses as Joanna Garcia teams up with Raven-Symoné to exact revenge on their old frenemy on her big day.

Garcia is a busy lady, with the movie, a new show this fall called 'Better With You' (premieres Wed., Sept. 22, 8:30PM ET on ABC) and a wedding to plan with fiancé and New York Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher.

I caught up with the bubbly star to talk weddings, rap sheets, rabid 'Priviliged' fans, old 'Reba' pals and her soon-to-be-husband's response to the death of his boss, Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.

Matthew PerryAnother 'Friends' alum is headed to ABC.

According to EW.com, ABC has officially picked up the comedy series 'Mr. Sunshine,' starring Matthew Perry as the manager of a local sports stadium who has a midlife crisis on his 40th birthday. Allison Janney co-stars.

The news should come as little surprise, as it was reported last week that the pilot had tested well in screenings.

Perry will join former 'Friends' co-star Courteney Cox ('Cougar Town') on the network, though no word yet on whether 'Mr. Sunshine' will air on ABC's Wednesday-night lineup.

Review: How I Met Your Mother - The Window

by Joel Keller, posted Dec 7th 2009 11:29PM
Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan in How I Met Your Mother(S05E10) I'm really starting to think that Carter Bays was telling the absolute truth when he told Mike Ausiello that the writers threw the Barney-Robin relationship into the trash heap. He wasn't being coy about a future plotline; I get the feeling that the writers wanted Single Barney over Relationship Barney and wanted to make sure they got there as quickly as possible.

Why else would we see an entire episode of Barn trying to get laid while wearing Marshall's old overalls? Here's the problem, as others have mentioned: we've seen how much of a good guy Barney can be. So seeing him back to his old tricks seems a bit emptier than it used to, doesn't it?

Mastrantonio Joins 'Criminal Intent,' Anthony Michael Hall Enrolls in 'Community' & More Casting News

by Jane Boursaw, posted Nov 2nd 2009 4:30PM
Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio joins Law & Order: CIThere's plenty of fun news in today's casting roundup, with veteran stars of film and TV taking center stage on various shows.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has signed up to join 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' for its upcoming ninth season. She'll play the new captain of the Major Case Squad, taking over for Capt. Danny Ross (Eric Bogosian), who ran the division for the past three years. The cast's other new addition is Saffron Burrows.

Along with Bogosian, leaving the show are regulars Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Julianne Nicholson, who's being replaced by Burrows.

Will the show take on a lighter tone? That's the word, with the action centering on Jeff Goldblum, who plays detective Zach Nichols. Personally, we can't wait to see the classy Mastrantonio, who's been a favorite since her 'Scarface' days, on this top cop show. [The Hollywood Reporter]

"Ah the Wedding March.... here comes the awkward pause." - Gossip Girl

As you can see from the picture above, Sonic Youth appeared on this very special episode of Gossip Girl, spoiled by the official episode title, and performed their 1986 single "Star Power."

As expected, Rufus and Lily hit a few bumps in the road before making the episode title come true. The episode also featured the return of Georgina, Scott, and Bree, which equals to blackmail, lies and drama. Three words that work very well in the world of Gossip Girl.

(S03E03) "Please tell me it was Blair and not Georgina." - Vanessa and Serena in unison to Dan

Dan may be on a new path since he arrived at NYU, but he hasn't changed enough to be Blair-worthy. Funny that both girls hoped that he slept with Blair and not Georgina. I get that they prefer Blair over Georgina even if both can be rather evil, but Dan and Blair will happen when pigs fly. Now I have to try to remove that mental picture of Blair and Dan making out from my brain!

In any case, this week's episode of Gossip Girl continued the Dan and Georgina hooking up storyline, put Chuck and Blair at odds, and put Carter and Serena at odds, while having Scott make some true and false revelations.

(S03E02) The scene we've been waiting for all summer long has finally aired: Blair discovering that Georgina is her college roommate! Even if the scene fell flat a tiny bit because it quickly cut to commercials after Georgina announced she was coming to NYU and was Blair's roommate, the rest of the episode Gossip Girl delivered the evil and backstabbing we've grown to love from both ladies. I do not wish any new TV show to get canceled -- Michelle Trachtenberg is on NBC's Mercy -- but admit that it would be great to have Georgina stick around for most of the season, eh?
