Oliver and Riggle"Easy, Pal... for the US Army": Sometimes I forget that there are still people that are scared of homosexuals, especially in the military. Thanks, Daily Show, for reminding of the existence of Elaine "Passive-Agressive Behavior" Donnelly and company. Congress recently had a hearing about gays in the military and the ever-popular "don't ask, don't tell" policy. This was almost as hilarious as whenever I see groups of straight guy-friends go to the movies together and sit with empty seats between each other so they won't be tempted to hold hands or something. Yeah, super-gay hand-holding is definitely worse than alcoholics and convicted felons. Icky.

Wyatt Cenac"Obama Quest: The Legend Begins": I guess the political comedy world has decided that the go-to digs on Barack Obama will be about the pressures of his golden boy image. Unfortunately, I can't say my middle school days were spent quite the same way, dealing with people making fun of how awesome I am. There are definitely worse ways to be mocked, is what I'm saying. Anyway, Mr. Obama has made his way to the Middle East for the first time, providing the Daily Show graphics department with the opportunity to make the most freakin' epic clip to accompany the report. Awesome. This trip also gave the media a chance to eagerly await a major cross-cultural faux pas. As it turns out, Obama has fangirls and fanboys all over the world.

Pierce BrosnanAmerica's terrorist watch list just hit the 1,000,000 mark. Yay! Sort of. Not really. Jon pointed out that Nelson Mandela was only recently removed from the watch list. He said it in a way like Mandela had no business being on the watch list on the first place, which I thought was a bit unfair. Sure, striking Mandela from the list was a move that probably should have happened over twenty years ago and his motivation was anti-apartheid, but once a guy has been the leader of a sabotage against his own government and military, that kind of makes the big boys of other countries nervous about having him around too. I'm just saying.

Rick Roll'dHas it really been two weeks? I hope you all have been coping better than I have. There were a lot of night terrors and failed McCain jokes along the way, as I coped with my withdrawal. Well, Jon Stewart (and Stephen Colbert) are back and, while they didn't talk about everything I expected them to cover (FISA? The weird reactions to the latest New Yorker cover?), there are only so many minutes in each episode.

Has Daily Show withdrawal kicked in yet? - VIDEOS

We are nearing the end of The Daily Show's two-week hiatus, but I'm suffering from a serious case of the political commentary shakes. In a desperate attempt to curb my withdrawal symptoms, I spent most of July 4th cracking jokes about the FISA Bill, but nobody wanted to hear it and drowned me out with lots of Roman Candles and exploding beer cans. Hopefully, other fans have been coping better than I have, but just in case you aren't, here are a few things to hold you over a few more days.

Wyatt Iron Man"Indecision 2008": The Daily Show hasn't really mocked Barack Obama quite as heavily as the likes of John McCain or Hillary Clinton. In fact, they have made fun of the media's wild, paranoid speculation about Obama more than Obama himself. It was good to see them pick on him a bit for his rather presumptuous faux-Presidential seal, which was quickly pulled and called a "one-time" thing. I loved how most of the audience was too nervous to mock their man. "You know... You're allowed to laugh at him." Also, Barack Obama seems to have made a bit of a flip-flop recently, turning his back on public finance and calling it corrupt, despite showing his support earlier in the race. I hope he flip-flops more if it means seeing John Oliver as Matthew Lesko again.

Jones and OliverJon Stewart kicked off the night with some anger fueled by Mets love. Mets manager Willie Randolph was fired in a rather unceremonious manner. He was all the way on the other side of the country, contacted at 3:00 a.m. and fired by Mr. Met. Sick burn.

"The Gay After": In other news, same-sex marriage is now legal in California, and, somehow, the state is still attached to the rest of the country and it hasn't been engulfed in flames. Hmm, interesting. Some newsworthy couples have tied the knot since this announcement, including George Takei, who married his long-time partner. I just started one of my Summer mini-projects, watching the entire original Star Trek series in preparation for its TV Squad's Retro Squad week, and while I know I'm a newbie Trekkie, I'm pretty sure Takei's name is pronounced "Tek-ayy." It allows for maximum fun in rhyming, "George Takei is gay."

Rob Corddry"George Walker Bush: Still President": We've still got seven months before the era of President Bush is officially over. With Barack Obama and John McCain dominating the news, Bush has taken a little vacay to Europe, because he's pretty much the only American who can afford to do so at this point. What's up with Bush getting super touchy-feely with German Chancellor Angela Merkel? Has he learned nothing? When he wasn't giving massages or trying the classic "yawn and stretch" on the Chancellor, he attempted to convince the German press that he's not actually a fan of war and it was his own rhetoric's fault for making it seem otherwise.

Jon Stewart"Guantanamo Baywatch": Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other plotters of 9/11 have appeared at a military tribunal, at which Khalid Sheikh Mohammed represented himself. Somehow, the Daily Show writers managed to work in an entire "Elmo with a beard equals 'Gitmo'" joke that ran way too long. I'll admit that's the first time that I've ever laughed out loud at someone getting waterboarded, though. The best part was when Jon Stewart used Gitmo to wipe up the waterboard mess right before the commercial break.

Election CenterHave you heard?! Full episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are now available for streaming! These will be available on Hulu, as well as players on the show's official sites (The Daily Show and The Colbert Report). Only the most recent few weeks will be available in full episode format, but the broken up clips that I have been embedding in these posts will be around forever, so that's what I'm going to keep putting in here. This is a fantastic, convenient feature... for the Americans that can access it. Sorry, Canada. Close, but no cigar.

Jon and DavidSpoiler alert: Barack Obama has scored the Democratic nomination. Of course, with The Daily Show taping around 6:00 in the evening, none of this was addressed in this night's episode. Just, you know, keep that in mind for maximum awkwardness while watching the proceedings.

"Anarchy Under The UK": After London's mayor banned alcohol, rowdy drunkards without cars took to the Tube and got wasted. Yeah, way to show the man that you guys are responsible enough to handle alcohol. Senior Mass Transit Analyst John Oliver drunkenly explained the beauty of subterranean drinking and then promptly urinated on the spot. Well done, good sir.

John and JasonJohn McCain wasn't the only one to have his medical history thrown into the spotlight. Barack Obama's doctor analyzed his health and released a one-page report on how muscular and lean he is. No, it's not nearly as long-winded nor as sexy as McCain's crazy 1,200 page report.

Still-President Bush (I think I will start referring to him as such, as well) paid a visit to the US Air Force Academy's graduation and had a little fun with some soldiers on this celebratory day. I'm surprised there weren't any MySpace poses in this collection of poses from the day. This would be so much more endearing if there wasn't always that underlying tone of evil in everything he does. I'm just sayin'.

Rob RiggleRejoice! The Daily Show is finally back, after an extra long break. I've been absolutely dying to hear the show's take on Hillary Clinton's Robert F. Kennedy remark. I know Keith Olbermann would have none of it and was so furious during his Special Comment on the issue that he bust a lightbulb.

The show started off lightly though, with a couple of jokes directed at the pre-show Q&A audience members. Once Jon Stewart urges you to marry your girlfriend on national television, it's probably about time to seal the deal.

Jon StewartSupreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia recently appeared on CSPAN's Q&A and grumpily talked about The Daily Show's childish material. I always remember Scalia as one of the only people that cracked up on camera during Stephen Colbert's 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner performance, so I still like to pretend that he's secretly a TDS/TCR fan. Also, does anyone else here have the America book? My copy has an unusual tendency to open right on the naked Supreme Court when I just randomly pick a page. They must have done something sneaky to the binding.

Doug FeithNo time for lengthy news! Let's get down to business. Terry McAuliffe, Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, recently appeared on Meet the Press and made the embarrassing mistake of referring to Tim Russert's father being in Heaven. The problem was that Russert's dad is still alive. Oops. Without realizing it, I had mirrored Jon's nervous, flailing hands during the cringeworthy clip. Man, it's almost as bad as accidentally blurting out "your mom" jokes to people whose mothers are dead.
