'Elvis' - DVD Review
My eyes didn't see this movie when it came out since they weren't even a fully functioning organism until a year after it hits the airwaves. But my brain carries a fleeting memory of a syndicated run of John Carpenter's TV movie about the King of Rock 'n Roll. I only saw one brief scene, but I remember thinking that this must have been a theatrically released movie because it felt like one. Back in the 80's, it was hard not to be able to tell the difference between a melodramatic TV mini-series and an honest and bracing biopic even if my TV diet consisted mostly of 'The Real Ghostbusters' and game shows that forced kids to dive in slop for a trip to Universal Studios.
Now almost fifteen years after that brief moment and more than 30 years after the TV movie told the life story of the King just a few years after his untimely passing, 'Elvis' returns to a TV near you in the form of a new DVD.
Supernatural: Jus In Bello

(S03E12) There's no way that Kripke and the team over at Supernatural HQ could have foreseen the strike, only completing 12 episodes, and an extended break after episode 12. Had they been able to do that though, it's hard to imagine a better send off as we head into the break than what we saw in "Jus In Bello." The return of Henricksen and the introduction of Lilith made for a great mid (3/4) season intermission.

Could They Live become a TV series?
Perhaps. A few sites, citing an Empire Magazine interview with They Live star Roddy Piper, report that Carpenter was in talks with SciFi to develop his 1988 film into a TV series for the network.
Unfortunately, that's all we know, and it doesn't look as if the interview is on Empire's Web site. Nevertheless, I think this could be a really cool idea. They Live was a lot of fun in a campy, B-style sort of way, and its not-so-subtle plot of aliens trying to control mankind through subliminal methods is something that could be easily fleshed out into a full series. In the film, Piper's character, John Nada, finds a pair of sunglasses that allow him to see the various subliminal messages broadcast across the city: OBEY, CONSUME, etc.
