Jon Hamm Does Robin Williams as 'SNL' Goes Back to the Future (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 1st 2010 2:05AM
To mark the 25th anniversary of the classic 1980s film 'Back to the Future,' new footage was released. These outtakes showed the original casting of Eric Stotlz as "Marty McFly."Though we all know and love Michael J. Fox as the time-traveling teenager, he wasn't the first person cast in the film. But some things just feel right. And so, Eric was eventually replaced with Michael -- even though changing actors added about $3 million to the budget.
Hmm ... So according to 'Back to the Future,' you can remake the past or the present -- and casting choices can be remade as well. But once you start questioning your original decisions, there's no telling how far you can go. And on the new 'SNL' (Sat., 11:30PM ET on NBC), the cast members decided to see just how far they could go with it.
'Saturday Night Live' - Jon Hamm and Rihanna Recap
by Dr. Ryan Vaughan, PhD (no, seriously), posted Oct 31st 2010 10:30AM
['SNL' - 'Season 36, Episode 5']Jon Hamm isn't a household name. Sure, he plays Don Draper on AMC's 'Mad Men,' but as popular as that show is, there are still a lot of people who probably think he's some 'Bachelorette' reject. But what about his comedic chops? Certainly, being funny isn't a host prerequisite, but it helps... a lot.
Nothing is funnier than when someone you think is going to bomb comes out and kills it. Jon Hamm is the new Alec Baldwin in this regard. Ruggedly handsome and an almost exclusively dramatic career, completely taking people off-guard by crushing the 'SNL' hosting gig, then starring on '30 Rock.' Not an easy task when everyone you come in contact with is imagining you with your shirt off.
Jon Hamm, Craig Ferguson Stroke Toys, Discuss Flaubert and Pubic Hair (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Sep 24th 2010 7:15AM
Those who saw Craig Ferguson's interview of Jon Hamm got a strange history lesson, courtesy of a stuffed pig with tufts of questionable facial hair. But first, the host of 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS) asked, "Do you watch films [you are in] and then rub yourself in oil and go, 'I'm a movie star -- look at me!'" Hamm replied, "That was literally my Tuesday night."Ferguson then brought out two plush toys -- a rabbit for himself, a pig for Hamm -- and they began to stroke them like "Bond villains."
"The hair on this pig is very disturbing," said Hamm, noting its odd sideburns. Apparently, it's "modeled after [French novelist] Gustave Flaubert, who had a contempt for the bourgeoisie," said Ferguson. Hamm responded: "I didn't realize that Flaubert had pubes on his head." Ferguson had an explanation for that as well.
The 5 Funniest TV Clips of the Week (VIDEO)

The summer TV season may be winding down, but hilarious moments were in no short supply this past week. We've gathered the five funniest here, including a TMI discussion on an actor's nether region, a plot to stop the Ground Zero mosque by holding the Koran hostage, and an extended game of late-night musical chairs that ends in footsie. Enjoy!Actor Jon Hamm: The Tea Party Is "Racist" (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 20th 2010 3:14AM
The latest episode of 'Real Time With Bill Maher' (Fri., 10PM ET on HBO) dealt with the important topic of the Tea Party. And host Bill Maher started off with this question: "Anybody think this Tea Party is racist?" Guest Jon Hamm agreed that he thinks the party is a racist movement. Jon, Bill, and the rest of the guests discussed the most recent provocation from Newt Gingrich. Apparently, Gingrich said that President Barack Obama was a person who was "outside our comprehension." Newt also said this:
"This is a person who is fundamentally out of touch with how the world works, who happened to have played a wonderful con, as a result of which he is now president."
Jon Hamm and Emma Stone Set to Host 'SNL'
by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 17th 2010 2:40PM
Judging from the stellar lineup of hosts announced so far, this season of 'Saturday Night Live' is shaping up to be an epic one. Amy Poehler, Bryan Cranston and Jane Lynch have already signed on for episodes in September and October, and now two new names have been added to the mix: Emma Stone and Jon Hamm.'Easy A' star Stone announced on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' on Wednesday that she will appear on 'SNL's Oct. 23rd episode. She's a particularly smart choice -- the young actress has been garnering pre-crazytown Lindsay Lohan comparisons, and seems like she actually has the chops to do a good job.
Brian Williams Stalks Jon Hamm on 'Late Night' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Sep 17th 2010 8:00AM
Jon Hamm's favorite sketch from his two times as host of 'Saturday Night Live' involved Will Forte, when Forte was a Halloween trick-or-treater costumed as a child molester. "It was hilariously awkward, and Will does that very well," Hamm told former 'SNL' cast member Jimmy Fallon on 'Late Night' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC).But that skit was originally meant for 'NBC Nightly News' Anchor Brian Williams. The newsman saw its rehearsal on the intra-network NBC feed and sent a personal message to them saying, "Why is there some idiot in a Charlie Brown sweater doing my sketch? Lose my number! Love, Brian Williams."
Maybe Williams was just jealous that he didn't get to spend time with Hamm while he was in proximity. He loves the actor and 'Mad Men.' Fallon warned, "You gotta watch it when you're in this building ... He watches the feed. He could show up wherever." At that moment, the cameras panned to the studio door, with a fanatic Williams peering through the window. Hamm's reaction? "That's just sad."
Jon Hamm Talks Superman Rumors on 'Regis and Kelly' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Sep 16th 2010 2:30PM
On 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), 'Mad Men' star Jon Hamm discussed rumors that he's up for the role of Superman in Christopher Nolan's reboot of the superhero franchise. Hamm chalked the rumors up to Internet speculation, but seemed interested in portraying the Man of Steel nevertheless.Jon Stewart Hits on Jon Hamm (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 16th 2010 4:37AM
Jon, meet Jon. 'Man Men' star and all-around "dreamboat" Jon Hamm was the guest on 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Comedy). And host Jon Stewart seemed more than a little smitten."I'm going to begin on an embarrassing note," Stewart said. Oh great. The comedian went on to mention how all couples get one "free pass" in a relationship. Well, for Stewart and his wife, apparently Jon Hamm is that "free pass." Not for Stewart's wife -- but for Stewart himself.
With that little "note" out of the way, the host apparently felt free to flirt to his heart's content. Hamm seemed okay-ish with the whole thing, though he did slightly hedge his bets: "That's going to make the rest of this interview, uh, 'interesting,' to say the least."

Going Mad: An In-Depth Look at Season 4 of 'Mad Men'

Welcome to part 2 of my Wednesday 'Mad Men' onslaught: An examination of the most recent four episodes of the show. These are just thoughts and observations about individual episodes, (very) loosely divided by episode title. So what's the difference between this and part 1 of my 'Mad Men' onslaught, in which I discuss why the current season of 'Mad Men' may end up being my favorite? Well, that piece is more of a big-picture look at the season and the social and personal forces affecting the characters.
What's below is a closer examination of events and developments that occurred in the past four episodes.
News Roundup: '30 Rock' Books Jon Hamm for Live Episode, 'Modern Family' Films Gay Kiss and More
by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 30th 2010 5:30PM
Jon Hamm has a flair for live performances and Tina Fey knows this well; in fact, she's booked him for the live '30 Rock' episode in October. Fey revealed the news to Ausiello Files on the Emmy red carpet. What, you need more proof that Hamm has the live comedy chops? Check out his solid hosting gig on 'Saturday Night Live' last season and the opening performance at the 2010 Emmy Awards.
Also on tap for '30 Rock' season 5 is Emmy winner Paul Giamatti. He'll play a grouchy editor in the second episode.

Emmy Picks: Best Lead Actor in a Drama
by Joel Keller, posted Aug 23rd 2010 1:02PM

With the Emmy awards less than a week away, I'm continuing to pick who I think should and who I think will win the major awards.
On Friday, I discussed the Best Lead Actress in a Drama category. Today we look at their male counterparts in the Best Lead Actor in a Drama category.
Nominees:
Kyle Chandler, 'Friday Night Lights'
Bryan Cranston, 'Breaking Bad'
Matthew Fox, 'Lost'
Michael C. Hall, 'Dexter'
Jon Hamm, 'Mad Men'
Hugh Laurie, 'House'
Who will win: Wow. You could make a case for everyone in this category, given the strong episodes they each submitted. That being said, Bryan Cranston didn't give the Academy any reason to avoid giving him the award for the third year in a row. 'Breaking Bad' had an exceptionally strong season, and it says a lot that I don't even think Cranston was the best actor on his show this year -- Aaron Paul did that good of a job, but he's nominated in the supporting category -- but I still think he will take the prize.
'Mad Men' Moment: Don Says Goodbye (VIDEO)
by Joel Keller, posted Aug 9th 2010 12:04PM
There are very few people on the planet who know who the real Don Draper is. In fact, there aren't many people on the planet who know that the real Don Draper is actually dead, and the person using his name is actually a guy named Dick Whitman.Anna Draper is one of those people.
The relationship between Anna and Dick Whitman is one of the most unique ones on television. He took Don's name after coming home from the war; she took him in, and they took care of each other. As a result, he's been able to take care of her as he's continued to carry the Draper name to New York, got married, started a family, and got a painful divorce (which was precipitated by Betty finding out the truth... more on that later). Now the Draper name is proudly on the door of an up-and-coming ad agency. They have a love for each other that's hard to describe, but easy to see.
Which is why Don's trip to Southern California on this week's 'Mad Men' (Sundays at 10PM ET on AMC) was so painful.
Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss Hawk Mercedes-Benz, Excedrin (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 29th 2010 11:31AM
It wouldn't surprise me if most of the actors on 'Mad Men' ended up in commercials at some point. It's a show about advertising, so you sort of associate them with ads and commercials. At least two 'Mad Men' actors, Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss, are featured in commercials circulating right now. Hamm is the new voice for Mercedes-Benz, taking the baton from Richard Thomas (John-Boy on 'The Waltons'), who served as the car company's voice-over talent for the past four years.
In a Media Decoder story, Stephen Cannon, vice-president for marketing at Mercedes-Benz USA in Montvale, N.J., calls the new campaign "a nice re-fresh of our voice," adding that Hamm has "a terrific, very resonant voice with a lot of gravitas to it." He also notes that Hamm will help Mercedes-Benz "reach out to a younger, more vibrant audience."
