Stewart and Colbert Ink Deals Through 2012

by Mike Scalise, posted Apr 20th 2010 10:00AM
And now, a moment of zen for late-night TV.

According to the New York Times, Comedy Central recently signed its two award-winning "fake news" stars -- Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert -- to deals that would keep them on the air through 2012's presidential election.

"Jon and Stephen have established themselves not only on the cable landscape but also on the cultural landscape," said Doug Herzog, President of MTV Networks, which owns Comedy Central. "I think of myself as the manager of the '61 Yankees. I just wanted to keep writing Mantle and Maris into the lineup as many seasons as I can."

Steve Carell on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 8th 2010 2:40AM
Steve Carell on 'The Daily Show'Steve Carell appeared on 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to promote his new movie, 'Date Night.' Unfortunately, even though they worked together for many years, host Jon Stewart had a little trouble remembering who he was. First, Stewart showed the wrong movie clip -- a clip from 'The Hangover,' which starred a different ex-'Daily Show' cast member. Oh well.

Watch the video after the jump.

Bill O'Reilly Tones Down the Funny in Final Part of His Jon Stewart Interview

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 5th 2010 5:29PM
Bill O'Reilly wrapped up the final portion of his interview with Jon Stewart on last night's 'O'Reilly Factor' and if you tuned in hoping for a night of hilariousness, well...you still got it. But this time, you got it from the right person.

Jon Stewart, the host of Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show', kept his trademark charm and wit at high volume during the third and final portion of their edited interview, even though the tone and substance of their discussion got a lot more serious.

And thankfully, O'Reilly put down his red nose and took off his clown make-up for this portion of the interview. As Joel mentioned yesterday, O'Reilly is painful to watch when he tries to be funny. Screw waterboarding; the NSA should have hired him as the emcee for their interrogations.

by Leonard Jacobs, posted Dec 18th 2009 10:30AM
It only took the better part of a year to put in place, but finally you'll be able to count every hair in the perpetually cocked eyebrows of Stephen Colbert, or to admire the not-so-faint lines on the faux-astonished face of Jon Stewart.

That's because, according to Broadcasting and Cable, 'The Daily Show With Jon Stewart' and 'The Colbert Report' are at last joining the crystal-clear world of HD.

The Twelve Days of Festivus: Nine on-air breakdowns

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 15th 2009 11:00AM
Glenn BeckOn the ninth day of Festivus, TV gave to me... nine on-air breakdowns.

Director Alfred Hitchcock once said, "Television has done much for psychiatry by spreading information about it, as well as contributing to the need for it."

Yes, having a camera stuck in your face for an hour or more a day must take a toll on your sanity. Your privacy is virtually limited. Your every move is scrutinized and criticized by faceless meanies. Your therapist is one session away from owning his own fishing trawler.

It's only a matter of time before the grasp of sanity is clipped away like a loose thread on a homemade snowman sweater and you turn into a blubbering, snotty, incoherent mess for all the world to enjoy. These are the personalities who lost it and may or may not have gained whatever "it" is back.

Hannity gets caught by Jon Stewart ... and apologizes?!?

Hannity, Jon Stewart
Once again people, I'm forced to ask the obvious question: what the hell is going on here? Have we crossed over into the bizarro world? Is up now down? Has black become white? Did Lou Dobbs just announce that he's leaving CNN to take over the host chair of G4's Attack of the Show?

The other day, Jon Stewart called out Sean Hannity and his self titled show for what appeared to be doctored footage of Michelle Bachmann's recent health care rally dubbed the "Super Bowl of Freedom" (does that have anything to do with the Tostidos Fiesta Bowl of Human Rights?) spliced together with images from Glenn Beck's "9/12 Rally" to make the crowd look bigger.

Comedy Central fans would take a bullet for their network

by Danny Gallagher, posted Aug 27th 2009 12:05PM
Stephen Colbert in IraqWe often hear the phrase "die hard fan," but who is actually willing to "die hard" for the thing they care most about?

If you believe in statistics, that honor would go to fans of Comedy Central.

A recent study conducted by a research group found that fans of the long-running cable network have the most dedicated fan base. Plus, those polled think people who watch The Colbert Report and The Daily Show are "cool." Are the kids these days still saying "cool"? My, where has all the time gone?

White House officially afraid of The Daily Show

Jon Stewart poking fun of Dick
All of you right-wingers who thought that The Daily Show was going to become just another tool in a liberal executive branch's belt should take note of the following story.

And if having to read a newspaper other than The Washington Times, The New York Post or The Daily American Patriot Commie Basher makes your eyes bleed, grab your Visine and suck it up. You need to read this.

An attorney for the state said the Obama administration did not want to release detail of an interview with former VP Dick Cheney regarding the Valerie Plame leak because of fears that "it's going to end up on The Daily Show."
