'The Vampire Diaries' Season 3, Episode 3 Recap

by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 30th 2011 1:15AM
Stefan, Vampire Diaries['The Vampire Diaries' - 'The End of the Affair']

I'm not one to pick favorites. Some people can name their top five favorite movies/songs/shows/etc. upon request, and some are doomed to a life of indecision. I'm one of the latter -- honestly, choosing five episodes of 'The Vampire Diaries' for our "Essential Episodes" series took about two weeks. But there is one thing I'm absolutely certain of: 'The End of the Affair' is my number one favorite 'TVD' episode of all time.

Alternately heartbreaking, hilarious, beautiful, engrossing and 100 percent enjoyable -- what more could you ask for in a high-school-set teen drama?

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 3 Premiere Recap

by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 16th 2011 12:00AM
The Vampire Diaries ['The Vampire Diaries' - 'The Birthday']

I'm not saying that 'The Vampire Diaries' is predictable -- it's anything but, in fact -- but the opening scene of Thursday's Season 3 premiere felt almost 'Law & Order'-like in its familiarity.

We knew things were not going to turn out well for the poor girl who just happened to be outside in the dark in the middle of nowhere when approached by the (insanely attractive) man we all know to be Klaus, the psychopath half-vampire/half-werewolf hybrid who destroys all in his path to world domination. (Okay, so we haven't really seen that on NBC.)

But this particular PYT wasn't exactly the random victim you'd find in a procedural -- she was a seemingly minor casualty in Klaus 'n Stefan's Tour De Murder, but in fact she helped set our Season 3 plot in motion. The girl led K 'n S (sounds like a '90s R&B group) to Ray Sutton (David Gallagher), the werewolf the boys had been searching all summer for, and as we would learn by the end of the episode, the first unlucky member of the hybrid army Klaus is planning to build with lieutenant Stefan by his side.

Comic-Con Q&A: The 'Vampire Diaries' Cast On Season 3 Lip-Locking & More (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Jul 24th 2011 2:00AM
Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Paul WesleyThe cast of 'The Vampire Diaries' knows how to keep a secret -- in fact, we're pretty sure their jobs depend on their ability to do so.

Lucky for fans who love surprises, but unlucky for reporters on the Comic-Con press line for the hit CW show, their lips were shut tighter than the entrance to Katherine's tomb.

Still, we managed to unearth a few hints about what we can expect from Season 3, including what Stefan's new alliance with Klaus might mean for his future with Elena ("He's trying to hold on as much as he can to the humanity that's left inside of him," Paul Wesley said) and what more we might learn about Klaus ("Maybe see a little more vulnerability to him, a little more of a human side," Joseph Morgan ventured. "... if he has such a thing.")

And we also got some insight into what Damon and Elena's mindsets will be when the show returns: "Damon's pissed," Ian Somerhalder said matter-of-factly. And about that kiss? "I'm never gonna hear the end of this one, am I?," laughed Nina Dobrev.

One more thing about that kiss: Somerhalder was wondering if we were all watching the same "steamy, passionate kiss" in the finale that he was. From his vantage point, there was nothing sexy about it.

Doesn't matter -- we hear there's plenty more lip-locking to come in the season premiere. Watch the video for more scoop.

'The Vampire Diaries' Preview: More Originals, Tyler's Return, Finale Death Count & More

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 28th 2011 3:45PM
'The Vampire Diaries' - 'The Last Day''The Vampire Diaries' is one of those shows that always keeps me guessing. Having seen tonight's episode, 'The Last Day' (Thursday, April 28, 8PM ET on The CW), I will say that fans of the mushy romance and friendship stuff AND fans of major action will both be satisfied.

And that's all I'll say about that. No spoilers here. But I do have some fun teases from the cast after yesterday's press screening and Q&A.

Executive producer Julie Plec and stars Katerina Graham, Steven R. McQueen, Michael Trevino, Daniel Gillies and the newest addition Joseph Morgan all dished a bit about tonight's episode and what else is in store for the last two episodes of the season.

They also discussed the much-talked-about death count, dealing with fan backlash, Tyler's return and learning more about the Originals. After all, as Plec shared, "Season 3 is very much the season of the Originals."

Mwuhahaha! Keep reading for more, and check back after tonight's episode (when you'll be freaking out for sure) for teases of next week and the big season finale.

'The Vampire Diaries' Might've Found Its Klaus

by Jean Bentley, posted Jan 27th 2011 4:40PM
Joseph Morgan With Emily Van CampThis season's story on 'The Vampire Diaries' owes much of its mystery to an ancient, powerful vampire named Klaus whom we've yet to meet. But that could change soon, since TVLine is reporting that the show is thisclose to hiring Welsh actor Joseph Morgan to play the coveted role.

Morgan (pictured here with actress Emily VanCamp) is relatively unknown to American audiences, unless you're a longtime BBC America fan or have Anglophile friends who introduced you to the short-lived show 'Hex' about a college-aged witch. (It was ahead of its time, really.)

He's also popped up in movies like 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World' and 'Mister Lonely,' and the TV movies 'Mansfield Park' and 'Silent Witness.'
