Project Runway: What's Your Sign?
by Annie Wu, posted Sep 11th 2008 8:38AM
(S05E09) My last review began oh-so bluntly with "I am so full of anger", which was a pretty good summation of the grumpiness that would follow. This episode triggered some very familiar feelings and, while some of you thought I was being a little too hard on the designers, especially Kenley, I can't see how anyone could wonder why after this episode. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Project Runway fan. If I only half-cared for it, the drop in quality of this show would not affect me quite as badly. But when a show I love so much and have constantly praised and confidently recommended takes such a sharp drop within one year, it's disappointing, to say the least. As horrible as it sounds, I'm actually looking forward to the Lifetime move now, despite my earlier worries, because at least PR will be on a network that wants them around. The same can not be said for Bravo, which is currently treating PR like it's the ex that still has to live in the apartment because they're legally obligated to finish paying half this year's rent.
No more Tim Gunn on Project Runway?
by Annie Wu, posted Dec 7th 2006 5:58PM
According to People, Tim Gunn may not return for the fourth season of Project Runway. Please, allow me to repeat myself: Tim Gunn -- the only voice of reason among a sea of poorly-dressed crazies -- may not return for the fourth season of Project Runway. See, the show has always filmed at the end of the academic semester, so Tim, an instructor at Parsons, would not have any schedule conflicts. This may not be the case any more.Tim Gunn knows what he's talking about

With the third season of Project Runway just looming over the horizon (it premieres tomorrow at 10 PM EST!), the web is shaking with Runway buzz all over again. The Chicago Tribune's "The Watcher" has a great interview with Tim Gunn, full of insider goodies. I swear, this guy knows exactly what he's talking about! And I'm not just saying that because he shares just about all of my opinions -- Okay, maybe I am.Here are some points that I found extremely interesting:
- The winner was originally going to be Daniel Vosovic, but Nina Garcia turned the whole thing around after she went into a huge speech about how wonderful Chloe Dao was. Snarl, snarl. We members of Team Vosovic are furious.
- Daniel's turned into a bit of a diva? Wow.
- Tim thinks that Santino Rice's impression of him was spot-on. "There would be times when I would be watching Season 2 shows and I would hear my voice offscreen and I would think, is that me or Santino?"
- Tim liked Kara Janx's "decoy" collection more than those of the actual three finalists.
Project Runway at Fashion Week
by Annie Wu, posted Feb 10th 2006 8:49PM
Project Runway has been winding down, leaving only four
designers to go (Chloe Dao, Kara Janx, Santino Rice, and Daniel Vosovic), but the big finale of Project Runway
is the actual runway show at Olympus Fashion Week, which took place between the 3rd and the 10th. What they did at
Fashion Week was have all four contenders present collections so that none of the spectators could give away who had
been booted (they did the same thing last season when poor Austin Scarlett was Auf Wiedersehen-ed)... The actual top
three finalists of Runway will not be announced until next week's episode, and only those three collections
will be televised.Do you like spoilers? C'mon. I bet you're dying to see what the designers have created... If you'd prefer to find out on your own, look away. If you'd like to be sneaky, check out this brief recap from Yahoo! (thanks, Martha!). Or, you can come look at some pictures I dug up from Fashion Week and take a real peek at the collections that they presented...
Project Runway: The Sasha Cohen Competition
by Annie Wu, posted Jan 19th 2006 7:03PM
Heidi Klum announced that the designers would be getting a
package instead of telling them what their challenge was going to be. After the designers waited a while in their
rooms, season one's Rob (the one that busted his head open when he was trying to show off his mad hanging-upside-down
skills to the ladies) showed up in an USPS uniform with a bunch of boxes. Everyone seemed excited to see him (except
Emmett, who, embarrassingly enough, didn't recognize him) and eagerly opened their boxes. Inside was a short a message
telling them to put on the enclosed outfits and go to the lobby. The ladies don itty-bitty, form-fitting dresses and
the guys wear tight-fitting pants and puffy shirts (again, except Emmett... he wore an atrociously bright pink top. He
tried to class it up with a fedora, but to no avail). It looks like someone threw up the Ice Capades and a box of
Crayons at the same time.TV Squad Hot Topics
