by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 21st 2011 4:56AM
Kate Gosselin, 'Kate Plus 8'If people ever decide they've seen enough of Kate Gosselin and her brood on television, and TLC cancels 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on TLC), she may have found her fallback career.

This week, Gosselin got the chance to first ride in, and then drive, a race car around the track while her kids watched. And she simply couldn't get enough of it.

"I could have done it all day. It was strangely mesmerizingly fun," Gosselin said of the experience. Her only complaint? "It wasn't fast enough."

Kate Plus 8 Leave it to Kate Gosselin to turn a harmless educational bonding activity into a gross-out overshare moment.

On a special 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on TLC), Mamma Kate actually came up with a fun and cute idea: Teach the kids to hatch their own chicks around Easter time.

Things went smoothly for the most part, with the kiddos looking forward to their chicks hatching from their eggs. But when Kate's impatient daughter called the exercise "boring," Kate responded with some news that left the kids a bit gobsmacked.

The Kids Treat Mom to a Birthday Surprise on 'Kate Plus 8' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 7th 2011 4:05AM
'Kate Plus 8'Kate Gosselin got a big birthday treat on 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on TLC). She got to experience for the first time the joys of having kids old enough to actually bake you a cake and do what they can to make your day as special as it can be.

The kids even surprised her when she came home by hiding behind the island in the kitchen to yell, "Surprise!" They had the house decorated and had two cakes prepared. There are, after all, eight hungry kids in the house even if it is Mom's birthday.

As always, some of the most adorable moments of 'Kate Plus 8' comes when the kids are interviewed about what happened, and they couldn't have been more excited about the surprise they gave their mother.

Kate Gosselin on Presidency: 'We'll Leave That to Sarah Palin' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 3rd 2011 2:18AM
Kate Gosselin, 'Kate Plus 8'Kate Gosselin and her brood headed to Philadelphia to take in some American history this week on 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on TLC). While there, the kids taught us a few things we didn't know. Do you know why the president raises his right hand during the oath of office?

According to Gosselin's kids, the right hand is the liberty hand! Look which hand the Statue of Liberty is holding aloft. It all makes sense. Sorry all you left-handed folks, but we don't know yet what that hand is. Maybe the freedom hand?

While there, they also got to pretend to take the oath of office themselves, and get their picture taken. Gosselin even got one of herself getting sworn in. "I had it on the front of my phone for a while, me being the next president," she smiled. "We'll leave that to Sarah Palin."

Kate Gosselin Can't Escape the Paparazzi, Even in New Zealand (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 19th 2011 3:00AM
paparazzi on 'Kate Plus 8'If such a thing is possible, the paparazzo who followed Kate Gosselin in New Zealand actually made the rest of them look worse. On the latest 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on Bravo), Gosselin continued her vacation in New Zealand with the kids, but discovered that the paparazzi had followed her there.

"It was like here you are across the world, and it's the old struggles of home," she said.

As she was in a public place, the photographer couldn't be banned from the premises, but he could be confronted when he got physically violent. He shoved a production assistant who was blocking his shots of Gosselin and her children.

Kate Gosselin, 'Kate Plus 8'Kate Gosselin is having all kinds of new adventures in Australia, and on the latest installment of 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on TLC), she set out on one both exciting and dangerous. She also set up what would either be an awesome memory for her kids or one of the most traumatic experiences of their young lives as they were on the sidelines watching their mother feed a hungry crocodile.

The croc was coming right at Gosselin and Wes, the zookeeper. Even on camera it looked like an incredibly exhilarating and terrifying experience.

"That's your food. I'm not," Gosselin told the croc as she threw meat at him from a distance it probably could have crossed much faster than she would have expected.

Kate Gosselin, 'Kate Plus 8'Kate Gosselin returned for her second season of 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on TLC) by heading to the land down under. While there, she decided to tackle two fears at once. And it looks like the least of her worries was the sharks she was going to be swimming with.

"I am not a swimmer and I don't like being underwater," she said, which makes us wonder why she would think swimming with great white sharks is a great undertaking.

Maybe start a little easier. Maybe start by swimming with people ... or even alone.

Shoka the Dog Rejoins 'Kate Plus 8'Someone returned home on 'Kate Plus 8' (Sun., 9PM ET on TLC). No, it wasn't ex-husband Jon Gosselin. Kate surprised her brood with Shoka, one of the family's German shepherds. (Shoka's sister Nala was mysteriously absent.)

Jon had previously scolded Kate for not taking care of the dogs properly. Apparently Shoka went away for training and was back "for good," she told her elated children. They laughed and screamed with delight, crowding around the dog to hug and pet him.

'Kate Plus 8' Family Meets Adorable 2-Day-Old Puppies (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Nov 8th 2010 4:36AM
'Kate Plus 8' Family Meets Puppies'Kate Plus 8' (Sun., 9PM ET on TLC) abounded in unexpected cuteness when, while traveling in Alaska, Kate Gosselin and her eight children visited a center that raises and trains sled dogs.

Initially, only Kate sat with rapt attention during the talk about the famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race. Then the center's six newborn teeny-tiny puppies stole the show.

Cara and Mady tried to explain how small the 2-day-old puppies were using only their thumbs and forefingers. "They look like baby pigs," described one of the sextuplets. But even cuter.

A Flashback on 'Kate Plus 8' -- Is Kate Gosselin Still the Same Person? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 21st 2010 5:23AM
A Flashback on 'Kate Plus 8' -- Is Kate Gosselin Still the Same Person?Truly, Kate Gosselin has been an odd part of our shared cultural, um, heritage for so long now that we've almost forgotten how it all began. But tonight, on 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 9PM ET on TLC), the producers were there to jog our memories -- with some candid footage of, well, a frankly enormous Gosselin preparing to give birth. There she is to your right, in case you needed reminding that Kate once had six children in her womb at the same time, as a result of fertility treatments.

On the newest episode, it's time to send the kids off for their first day of school -- which is the excuse for the show to delve into "nostalgic flashback" mode. "This is the day that I thought of, back when I was on bed-rest with six kids," Kate says. " ... Someday, they'll all be in school." That day is now.

'Kate Plus 8': Gosselins Try to Sell Their Brother at Pirate School (VIDEO)

Gosselin Kids Sell Brother on 'Kate Plus 8'Kate Gosselin and her eight children became a band of pirates for the day on 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 9PM ET on TLC). They dressed in pirate garb and set sail for drove to "pirate school."

Once there, one of the, uh, teacher pirates asked the little Gosselins whether their mother could cook -- and cook well. According to them, yes and yes. In that case, would they sell her to him?

The kids couldn't be persuaded (so she can't be that horrible), but they had another idea: Buy their brother Collin. Explained one Gosselin: "Collin's really mean, so we wanted to give him away." OK, it appeared that they aced lesson one (slave labor). Lesson two: weaponry -- swords and the like.

The Kids Weren't the Only Cuties on 'Kate Plus 8' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 7th 2010 3:40AM
'Kate Plus 8'As much as the cuteness of the Gosselin sextuplets permeates the screen in most episodes, the kids were overshadowed on the latest installment of 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon,. 9PM on TLC) by a horde of infant turtles coming up out of the sand and headed toward the water. As the family clustered around the nest in the dark, Kate Gosselin declared that she wanted to hold them.

One of the boys took it a step further when talking to the cameras later, announcing, "I really want to squeeze them, like my little stuffed animals."

Spontaneous Treat for Kate's 'Plus 8' Ends in (Literal) Meltdown (VIDEO)

Kate Gosselin's Ice Cream Treat on 'Kate Plus 8'On 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 9PM ET on TLC), she and her gaggle of Gosselins are on a bus tour of New York City. Perfect time to make a mad dash to the ice cream shop. Kate and two production assistants order eight ice cream cones. Problem is, it's blazing hot outside, and the kids are all staying on the bus, several blocks away.

"I knew it was going to melt, but the fact that when we walked out the door, it instantly started streaming ... dripping off of our elbows!?" says Kate. "And I thought, 'We will run or we will be handing them puddles.'"

Clark and Danny can't keep up with the mom-on-a-mission -- who is sprinting in heels. Once on the bus, Kate must cover her children in copious sheets of paper towel and beg them to eat as quickly as possible.

Is a Camera Crew Better at Parenting Than Kate Gosselin? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 5th 2010 1:35AM
Is a Camera Crew Better at Parenting Than Kate Gosselin? Is it a bad sign when kids seem more excited about hanging out with a camera crew ... than with their own mother? That's the question on 'Kate Plus 8' (Wed., 9PM ET on TLC). For the first time in six months, the show's production crew is back, and the Gosselin kids seem really happy to seem them. So happy ... that it raises a few questions. Like, is Kate Gosselin paying enough attention to her own children?

The little Gosselins seem fantastically excited to have the film crew back; because the film crew actually spends a lot of time hanging out with them. Meanwhile, Kate has received criticism for spending time away from her family -- including a stint on 'Dancing With the Stars' that separated her from the kids. Ms. Gosselin has also been investigated by the state of Pennsylvania concerning possible child labor law violations -- which relate to having her children on TV all of the time.

Do you think Kate is being a good mom? Do you approve? Is she just doing the best that she can?

The Family Rooster Reminds Kate of Jon on 'Kate Plus 8' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 12th 2010 4:45AM
Rooster Reminds Kate of Jon on 'Kate Plus 8'An incident with a rooster at the family's Pennsylvania home reminds Kate Gosselin of a certain other male animal in her life.

On 'Kate Plus 8' (Sun., 9:30PM ET on TLC), Gosselin adds a rooster to the kids' pet henhouse, but "the poor thing was henpecked," says Gosselin. "They were just relentlessly picking on him. And I just needed to get him out of there so he could have some peace. There's possibly some irony: We've got issues with roosters," she hints.

Later, while struggling to get her brood organized, she says, "Suddenly a one-bedroom apartment seems very attractive" -- another reference to ex-husband Jon. At one point, she screams and says, "It's like working with a bunch of ... [chuckles] kindergartners!"

"We are in kindergarten," her son helpfully points out.
