Kathie Lee and Hoda's Conversation About 'Dirty Love' Gets Interrupted by Earring Malfunction (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jan 10th 2011 1:05PM
Kathie Lee and Hoda were discussing a study on marriage and intimacy this morning on 'Today' (Weekdays, 7AM on NBC), and both hosts were surprised that people who are physically intimate with each other are often embarrassed to talk about meaningful issues in their lives. Kathie Lee, never one to miss an opportunity for a sex-themed segue, then mentioned that Johnny Weir would be skating to a song called "Dirty Love" later in the show. And once she had uttered the phrase 'Dirty Love,' it wasn't long before she was using it to lob some jokes in Hoda's direction.
"That's the way Hoda likes it, 'Dirty Love,'" said Kathie Lee. "You like this song." Then Kathie Lee did her impression of the song, which kind of sounded like the aliens from 'Toy Story.' And then her earring fell off, and she walked off-camera, providing a fitting end to typically wacky segment.

As long as there's live TV, there will be Live Air Gaffes. Even in the tightly controlled, over-produced world of modern television, verbal miscues, fits of uncontrollable laughter, and brainfreezes are bound to happen from time to time. And we wouldn't want it any other way -- those rare, unvarnished moments of awkwardness are part of the reason we love live TV. Here are our five nominees for the Live Air Gaffe of 2010. by Nick Zaino, posted Dec 8th 2010 1:50PM
The hip-hop artist Flo Rida has a lot to celebrate these days: he's got a new album out, 'Only One Flo: Part I,' and a single, 'Club Can't Handle Me,' that's climbing the charts. He stopped by 'Today' (Weekdays, 7AM on NBC) this morning and talked about his life growing up and how he got to where he is today. Flo Rida credited his mom for helping him move out of the projects and make something of himself. She was a disciplinarian, he said, who gave him and his sisters an example to follow. "She's very loyal," he said, "and she spoke to me and my sisters every day about always sacrificing towards all positive things."
The discussion then turned to his romantic life, and what will happen when he finally brings that special woman home to meet his mother. Kathie Lee couldn't help herself: she kept saying dropping Hoda's name, jokingly trying to set the rapper up with her co-host. "Of course Hoda will (be good enough for Mom)," replied Mr. Rida. Hoda Rida does have a nice ring to it.

Carol Burnett knew she'd make it in Hollywood because of Jimmy Stewart. "I never felt that I wouldn't be able to support myself in show business," Burnett said on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC). The legendary comic is promoting her new memoir, 'This Time Together: Laughter and Reflection,' and taking a walk down memory lane. Going to the movies and seeing Jimmy Stewart and Judy Garland always have a happy ending made Burnett optimistic about her career."It was in my mind that once I got to New York ... things would happen and in a funny way they did," Burnett said. "I was never scared and I was never cynical."

That Kathie Lee Gifford. She's such a rascal. You've got to hand it to Hoda Kotb, she's such a great comedy foil for Gifford. On 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), Gifford told Kotb she set up a profile for her on a dating site called "Cougars & Co." In an effort to get her hooked up with the cub of her dreams, Gifford brought three gents into the studio, telling Kotb she had to pick one to go on a date with.
Yes, it was all a prank, but after seeing these two in action on a daily basis, we wouldn't be surprised if Gifford did something like this for real.
