EXCLUSIVE: The Anatomy of a Shooting on 'Law & Order: SVU' With Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Nov 9th 2011 11:00AM
SVU Exclusive VideoThe new arrivals to 'Law & Order: SVU' are getting some action on the job -- of the guns-blazing variety, naturally.

In this exclusive video preview of 'Russian Brides' (Wed., Nov. 9, 10PM ET on NBC), Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino talk about what it's like to draw their TV guns on a perp.

"For 'Russian Brides,' you get to see me shoot a dude," Giddish said. "We're at an outdoor cafe, we're hoping the bad guy shows up ... and he does and I get to shoot him. That was really fun in the midst of the rain and all that."

What, did you expect a TV cop to have any remorse for mowing down an extra in the line of duty? Watch the video below for more scoop from Giddish and Pino.

'Law & Order: SVU' Boss Talks Stabler's Departure, Benson's Reaction & New Blood

by Warren Leight, posted Sep 21st 2011 1:15PM
Warren Leight is the new showrunner on 'Law & Order: SVU.' He wrote this blog post for us, in advance of tonight's Season 13 premiere, to help prepare fans for what's to come: the loss of Stabler, the introduction of two new SVU recruits and the change in Benson's attitude from confident to somewhat unsure.

After a 12-year run, Chris Meloni has chosen to leave the 'SVU' stages, which means Det. Elliot Stabler will be leaving the squad room.

All of his co-workers will feel the loss, but none more than Olivia Benson, his partner for that whole time. The SVU team will be adjusting to the end of that partnership for the first several episodes of the season.

Kelli Giddish & Danny Pino'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' has already lost Christopher Meloni, and his fellow lead Mariska Hargitay's departure won't be far behind. But we've just learned that NBC has cast two new stars to take the lead.

The new recruits? Kelli Giddish, who starred as U.S. Marshal Annie Frost on last season's short-lived NBC drama 'Chase,' and Danny Pino, who was senior detective Scotty Valens on 'Cold Case' for seven seasons.

We're not yet sure when the two will first appear on the show, or whether or not they'll be acting as lead detectives or trainees, but expect more details soon.

For now, a few thoughts on the news from the head of NBC and 'L&O' bossman Dick Wolf ...

'Chase' Series Premiere: This Show Lives Up to Its Title (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 21st 2010 7:08AM
'Chase' Series Premiere: This Show Lives Up to Its Title'Chase' (Mon., 10PM ET on NBC) is a new crime drama from producer Jerry Bruckheimer -- the man behind the 'CSI' franchise and 'The Amazing Race,' among other shows. But so far, the reaction to 'Chase' has not been very positive. 'USA Today,' for example, calls the show "really bad." Other critics are slightly more kind, calling the drama "bland" and "entertaining enough."

After watching the pilot episode, we're willing to argue that the series isn't terrible -- but it's fairly by the book and unimaginative. In a sense, the name of the show says it all.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

Kelli Giddish Finds Life After 'Past Life' With 'Chase'

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 24th 2010 5:19PM
Kelli GiddishIt looks like it might be easier for Kelli Giddish to put her 'Past Life' behind her than it was for those of us unfortunate enough to have seen the show. Giddish played Dr. Kate McGinn, who used people's past lives to solve modern crimes. The show was even worse than it sounds dropping from 9 million viewers to 3.5 million in only three episodes.

But Giddish has bounced back, with The Hollywood Reporter indicating she's been cast as the lead in the Jerry Bruckheimer NBC pilot 'Chase.' The series would follow a U.S. Marshall in Texas who's team is tasked with tracking down and bringing in America's most dangerous fugitives. While it hasn't been stated, it's probably safe to assume there will be no past life regressions to deal with; just current life transgressions.

'Past Life' Canceled

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 19th 2010 1:23PM
Past LifeFOX has canceled the new show 'Past Life.' Anyone who is shocked by this news please raise your hands and form a line on that side of the room.

This is one of those shows that you just knew was doomed before it even aired the first episode. It got horrible reviews, it was a midseason thing, it didn't get any buzz, it seemed like a copy of other shows that have been on recently, and it was on FOX. When the show premiered FOX should have run promos that said, "don't miss next week's premiere of the short-lived new series 'Past Life!'" The remaining episodes will be shown later this year some time.

FOX will show new episodes of 'Kitchen Nightmares' for the next few weeks in place of 'Past Life.' Now fans you just have to wait for the complete series box set to come out. Now let's get Richard Schiff on a better show.

'Past Life' - 'Pilot' Recap (series premiere)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 9th 2010 10:05PM
Past Life
(S01E01) 'Past Life' is not a bad show, but I don't know if it will stand out enough to make it past the first few episodes. But who knows, it might strike a chord with viewers and find a spot on the DVR schedules. It's a little bit 'House,' a little bit 'Medium,' and a little bit 'Fringe.'

The story follows Dr. Kate McGinn (Kelli Giddish), a psychologist specializing in past life regression -- memories of past lives or incarnations. In the pilot episode, a teenager named Noah has flashes where he remembers something that never happened to him. He sees visions of a kidnapping and murder, and we eventually learn that he's actually remembering something from someone else's life.
