Jerry Seinfeld to Guest Co-Host 'Live! With Kelly'

by Chris Harnick, posted Nov 1st 2011 1:45PM
Jerry SeinfeldJerry Seinfeld will be the first guest co-host on 'Live! With Kelly' when the show switches to a Regis Philbin-less format.

Philbin leaves 'Live! With Regis and Kelly' on Fri., Nov. 18 and the show will transition to 'Live! With Kelly' as it searches for a permanent co-host. A similar format was followed when Kathie Lee Gifford left the series in 2000.

"Jerry is a great friend of ours, and a friend of Kelly's, and it doesn't hurt that he's an entertainment icon," Michael Gelman, 'Live!' executive producer, said in a statement. "It's a great way to kick off the new beginning of our show."

Kelly Ripa and Nick Lachey Have 'Live' Halloween Costume Extravaganza (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 31st 2011 2:00PM
'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) has a tradition of having multiple-costume Halloween extravaganzas. They continued it today, with 'The Sing-Off' host Nick Lachey filling in for Regis. Heidi Klum was there to represent for Reeg, though, donning an excellent Philbin-esque get-up. Kelly and Nick cycled through a bevy of topical costumes, did skits that included cameos from Betty White and the 'Jersey Shore' cast, and also hosted a flash-mob.

Perhaps none of the costumes were as relevant to the moment than their Kardashian wedding costume, with Lachey on stilts. Other costumes included Kelly as Justin Bieber, Deena from 'Jersey Shore,' and Nancy Grace. The pair also re-created Royal Wedding. In other fun goodness, Lachey was superimposed as Ashton Kutcher on 'Two and a Half Men,' and Betty White herself popped up in the 'Jersey Shore' sketch.

EXCLUSIVE Sneak Peek: 'Live! With Regis and Kelly' Halloween Flash Mob (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 28th 2011 9:30AM
Nick Lachey & Kelly Ripa flash mob for HalloweenRegis and Kelly always do it up big for Halloween. This year, 'Live!' is kicking off their annual Halloween Headliner's Ball spectacular (airs Mon., Oct. 31) with a flash mob production number, and we've got the exclusive first look right here.

Featuring Kelly Ripa (in some fabulously bright purple lycra pants) and guest co-host Nick Lachey (not sure we'll say the same about his fluorescent shutter shades), the choreographed dance to LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem' has more than 100 flash mobbers dancing, all for a confused crowd of onlookers in New York's Lincoln Center.

Back in the studio, 'Project Runway' host Heidi Klum, '90210' star AnnaLynne McCord and 23 other celebrity guests will be on hand for the show as Kelly and Nick re-live this year's biggest headlines and most outrageous shows through costume -- almost 40 different looks in total throughout the show -- from 'Toddlers & Tiaras' to Charlie Sheen and everything in between.

And, of course, the audience members will be dressed up for the costume contest as well -- one lucky person will win the grand prize of $10,000 to shop at HomeGoods.

Watch the entire flash mob cold open now to get you in the mood ...

Regis Strips for Snooki (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 27th 2011 12:00PM
Usually, Snooki is the one taking her clothes off in front of the TV cameras, but on 'Live With Regis and Kelly,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) it was Regis' turn. Snooki was on to promote her new book 'Confessions of a Guidette' and hand out some guid-tastic party favors, which included a zebra-striped tie for Reeg.

Things got real Jersey after that. "Guidos usually don't wear ties, so you should like, take off your shirt, and then it'd be cool," Snooki said. As Regis eagerly obliged, standing up to take off his jacket, Snooki and Kelly Ripa couldn't believe what they were seeing. "You're getting naked?" Snooki asked.

"Let this happen," Kelly Ripa pleaded, as Regis unbuttoned his shirt and the crowd began to chant his name. "You think I'm afraid of you?" Regis asked Snooki, who seemed slightly shocked at the spectacle that was unfolding. Finally, after Kelly had egged him on by calling him a "juicehead gorilla," Regis took his shirt completely off, and put on the zebra tie.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Proudly Admit They Have a Favorite Child (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 26th 2011 3:30PM
Kelly Ripa and Mark Conseulos proudly plowed through a long-held parenting taboo on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), when they admitted they have a favorite child. It wasn't one of those spontaneous 'gotcha' moments that can happen on talk shows; the couple clearly wanted to tell everyone, including their two other children, that their son Joaquin is their favorite.

Ripa knowingly accused the audience of secretly playing favorites with their own children, as well. "You know in the event of an emergency there's one kid you'd reach for first," she joked. Consuelos said the other children are aware of their standing in the family and suggested they were to blame. "They know it, too. It's very accepted. He's just nicer to us." If Michael and Lola weren't nice before, things might be getting pretty ugly in the Consuelos/Ripa house soon.

Kelly Ripa and Kathy Griffin Eat Candy-Laced Pate on 'Iron Chef America' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 24th 2011 8:40AM
Iron Chef: AmericaThis week on 'Iron Chef America' (Sun., 10PM ET on FOOD) Chef Marc Forgione took on 'Top Chef' fan favorite Lee Anne Wong in Battle Halloween.

Kathy Griffin and Kelly Ripa were given the task of judging a range of dishes all prepared using the secret ingredient: Halloween candy.

We love Chef Wong, but honestly didn't think her duck liver pâté on crostini looked too appetizing: The strawberry hard candy gastrique lent it an unpleasant bloody tinge. Still, given some of the secret ingredients in the past, the judging panel got off lightly.

Ripa joked that adding candy's "a great way to get your kids to eat pâté," while über-dieter Griffin didn't manage to convince us that she really is "a pâté fanatic." Forgione's offerings, however, seemed to fare better with the ladies. Did he take home the title?

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Imitate Melissa and Joe Gorga (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 24th 2011 8:10AM
Mark Consuelos, 'What What Happens Live'Who knew that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were such great impressionists? They had 'Watch What Happens Live' (Sun., 11PM ET on Bravo) host Andy Cohen just cracking up as they showcased their best Joe and Melissa Gorga impersonations.

Revisiting their shared soap opera past, the couple spoofed 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' in 'All My Housewives.' Consuelos was hilarious as Joe, screaming "sono tuo figlio!" at Ripa.

Then, after she cut him off with "Are you done?" he tried to play the supportive husband as Kelly, wearing a rather fetching black wig, explained the murky origins of the long-runnning feud between 'Housewives' Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice.

Kaley Cuoco Almost Wasn't on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 4th 2011 7:30PM
'The Big Bang Theory' star Kaley Cuoco seemed pretty comfortable on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), possibly because she co-starred with Kelly Ripa on the sitcom '8 Simple Rules.' After a brief bit of reminiscing, Cuoco talked about the important role that family plays in her life, and revealed that she almost didn't get the part of Penny on 'Big Bang.'

Regis asked Cuoco about her family, and her dad, who she recently took as her date to the Emmys. As it turns out, he's never missed a taping of any of the three sitcoms she's been on. "It's just the cutest thing ever," she said. Her family lives close by, and while she used to go to her folks' place for family dinners, they're now coming to her "dream house" instead. "I order in ... I don't cook anything," she joked.

Kelly Ripa had a special guest-host today on 'Live With Regis and Kelly,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), her husband Mark Consuelos. The couple got their start -- both personally and professionally -- on the recently departed soap 'All My Children,' so they took the opportunity to look back on some old interview footage from their 'AMC' days.

In a blast-from-the-past montage that featured much-younger looking versions of Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford, Ripa and Consuelos talked about starting out on 'AMC.'

Cloris Leachman Really Wants to Know Regis Philbin's Future TV Plans (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Sep 26th 2011 6:30PM
Cloris Leachman and Regis Philbin shared a moment Monday on 'Live with Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), even if it was somewhat uncomfortable for everyone else. The 'Raising Hope' star turned the tables on her interviewer, asking Regis a series of questions about his future TV plans after he leaves 'Live' at the end of the year.

Turning her back to the audience, Leachman clasped Regis' hand and asked him, repeatedly, what he'd be doing in the next phase of his career. He tried to tell her that he doesn't know exactly, but hopes he'll be back on TV in some capacity (we've heard he's filming some kind of reality show). It soon became apparent that she wasn't going to let up. "Uh oh, it's one of those," he groaned.

The segment really began to feel like eavesdropping on a private conversation when Leachman moved in closer, and Regis, sounding a little sad, said "I don't know, honey. I really don't know." As Kelly Ripa took a rare moment of silence, a quick shot of the audience suggested that they didn't know how to react to this unusual moment of intimacy, either.

Regis Philbin to Get His Own Reality Show?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 8th 2011 6:00AM
Regis PhilbinHas Kathie Lee Gifford got a working crystal ball? When Regis Philbin first announced his impending retirement, she said "He'll never retire ... I think his most enjoyable days are ahead of him."

Now it seems as though she was right. In an interview with 'USA Today' Philbin reveals that he's been mulling over the idea of taking on his own reality show after he steps down from 'Live!' in November.

"There are several things that interest me," he says. "You know these reality shows? I would love to do a real reality show where Regis goes out."

In fact, Philbin's already got the ball rolling on a potential new project -- "I did a little pilot for somebody last week in L.A." -- but says he'll wait to see the edited version before he says yes or no to continuing.

All Sofia Vergara Knows About 'Modern Family' Season 3 Is That She'll Be Horseback Riding (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 27th 2011 12:45PM
Sofia Vergara of 'Modern Family' on 'Live With Regis and Kelly'Just as fans are eagerly awaiting details about season three of 'Modern Family,' so too is Sofia Vergara. Vergara, who plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, said Wednesday on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated) that she isn't sure what's in store next for season, but she does get a detail or two from writer/producer Steve Levitan from time to time, completely out of context.

Vergara said she gets no scripts in advance and doesn't know what will happen with Gloria. "I have no clue," she said. "The only thing is like a month ago I got a, like a text from Steve Levitan and he said, 'Do you know how to horseback ride?' So those are the kinds of hints that I get so I know something is going to come on that side of the story. But I never know."

Regis and Kelly's Special Cakes from the 'Cake Boss' Melt, Get Eaten Anyway (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 26th 2011 4:45PM
Kelly Ripa and Regis Philbin show of their 'Cake Boss' cakes on 'Live With Regis and Kelly'Last week on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), Regis Philbin tried his hand at baking a wedding cake with 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro. Valastro suggested they bury and say a prayer over Philbin's creation. This week, Philbin and Kelly Ripa showed off photos of custom cakes the Cake Boss made for their staff party, which ended up melted, but got eaten anyway.

The cakes were made to look like busts of Philbin and Ripa, but Ripa wasn't terribly impressed. "The Cake Boss made cakes of us," she said. "I look like you, and I thought your cake looked like Ronald Reagan." Since the party was outdoors, during a heat-wave, they had to put the cakes in the air-conditioned party-bus, but that couldn't save them.

The 'Cake Boss' Teaches Regis How to Bake (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 22nd 2011 4:40PM
Regis Philbin and Buddy Valastro of 'Cake Boss' on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' Thursday on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), Alton Brown taught Kelly Ripa how to judge food. Friday on the show, Regis Philbin learned how to bake from Budday Valastro, the 'Cake Boss' himself, who taught him the finer points of confection. As an added level of difficulty, the cake was for a bride-to-be, named Kimberly.

Philbin knew there would be trouble when he sat down with Kimberly and asked what she wanted. "Three or four tiers," she said. "You're not makin' it, are you?" Valastro laughed. "Kimberly, you're a sweet girl," said Philbin, "but I didn't like that tone that much." That was only the beginning. Philbin nearly freaked out when he had to handle a slimy raw egg yolk.

Alton Brown Shows Kelly Ripa the Ropes of 'Iron Chef' Judging (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 21st 2011 3:20PM
Kelly Ripa learns the ropes as an 'Iron Chef' judge on 'Live With Regis and Kelly'Apparently there's more to being an 'Iron Chef' judge than looking thoughtful while chewing and saying that you like, or dislike, someone's food. That's what Kelly Ripa learned Thursday on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), when 'Iron Chef America' host Alton Brown coached her on the lingo and a few rules of food judging.

Rule number one? "Do not taste hungry," said Brown. "Because if you're hungry when you sit down at this table, whatever they give you first will taste the best. Make sure you snack before you come to the table." Rule number two? "Taste after everybody else tastes," said Brown. "While you're eating, the judges will be making comments that you can disagree with, and that always makes you look smarter."
