Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Kendra, Carrie Ann Make Up; John Travolta Loves Maks

by Michael Maloney, posted Apr 19th 2011 7:00AM
Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van AmstelRivalries, couples not getting along, polarizing celebrities and loads of off-screen drama. These are the things that, for better or worse, have at times dominated the reality competition series known as 'Dancing With the Stars.'

But as regular viewers of the show are finding out, there's not much of that going on in season 12. Instead, the most compelling aspects of the show are taking place right where they should be -- on the dance floor.

There was, however, one feud that seemed to erupt from last week's show -- Kendra Wilkinson appeared to take great umbrage at judge Carrie Ann Inaba's remark that she appeared fearful of embracing elegance.

Wilkinson was still clearly upset by the exchange in the video segment shown prior to this week's dance. But what viewers may not know is that the two women cleared the air just before Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel performed the fox trot on Monday night.

Hugh Hefner Invited Kendra Wilkinson to His Wedding via Email (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 15th 2011 4:30AM
Kendra Wilkinson Talks Hef on 'Tonight'Unlike fellow Hugh Hefner ex-girlfriend Holly Madison, Kendra Wilkinson never saw marrying the Playboy empresario as part of her future.

Now that he's engaged to Crystal Harris, "he's where he wants to be in life, and you know, I'm happy for him," Wilkinson said on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

Her only concern was that she hadn't been invited to the wedding. So she alerted the media universe, and received an email from Hef shortly thereafter.

It read, "We haven't sent any 'Save the Dates' but if you can't make the planned wedding on June 18, we'll just change the date. Do you think I'd consider getting married without you being there?!"

Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Kendra Talks Karina's 'Playboy'; Is Mark Dating Pia Toscano?

by Michael Maloney, posted Apr 12th 2011 7:00AM
Karina SmirnoffKarina Smirnoff chose not to comment on the news that she'll be posing in Playboy, which may not fly too well with producers of 'Dancing With the Stars,' the family-friendly show on which Smirnoff appears. But her 'DWTS' cast mate Kendra Wilkinson, a former playmate herself, jumped to Smirnoff's defense on the post-show press line last night.

"Doing 'DWTS' and doing Playboy are two very separate things," Wilkinson told TV Squad. "[Karina] is an adult woman and we live in America. Let her be who she wants to be. I'm so happy that she's happy and she is who she is. She's about to get married. [Posing in Playboy] is, in a way, a bachelorette party to herself."

When asked to discuss her upcoming pictorial, Smirnoff told reporters, "I just don't think it's fair to talk about anything else but dancing. [Ralph Macchio and I] had such an amazing night."

Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Maks and Kirstie on Their Week Three Fall

by Michael Maloney, posted Apr 5th 2011 7:00AM
Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy"Personal story" night always yields some heartfelt moments on 'Dancing With the Stars' and last night's installment of that theme was no exception as several stars cut open some veins, revealing stories of deep personal loss. They then incorporated those stories into their dances.

The decisions that the stars and dancers made yielded some interesting results: Hines Ward and Petra Nemcova tied for first place, taking the top position from previous front-runner Ralph Macchio.

But the most dramatic moment of last night's performance was when Maksim Chmerkovskiy suffered a spasm in his thigh, which sent him and partner Kirstie Alley to the dance floor, shortly after they began their dance.

The Ukrainian-born ballroom bad boy and comedic actress extraordinaire quickly composed themselves, however, and resumed their rumba to 'Over the Rainbow,' earning applause from the audience and classy comments from the judges, who praised them for their inspiring comeback.

After the show, the stars and their pro dance partners reflected on the highs and lows of the evening. TV Squad was on the scene to get the scoop.

Will Mike Catherwood Go From 'Dancing With the Stars' to 'The Bachelor'?

by Michael Maloney, posted Mar 30th 2011 11:30AM
Lacey Schwimmer and Mike CatherwoodIt wasn't too shocking that 'Psycho' Mike Catherwood, a Los Angeles–based disc jockey, was the first celebrity sent packing last night on season 12 of 'Dancing With the Stars.' After all, he earned the lowest combined score after two dances.

His pro partner, Lacey Schwimmer, who went all the way to the finals last season, now finds herself as the first dancer to exit the show. On the plus side, the dancer/singer got to meet Britney Spears last night since she was a guest on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.' (Ejected stars and dancers are invited to appear on the late-night talk show the night that they're voted off the program.)

Before the couple headed to Hollywood to appear on Kimmel's show, they chatted with TV Squad on the post-show press line to talk about their 'DWTS' experience and plans for the future -- specifically, would Catherwood be the new 'Bachelor' on ABC?

Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Week One Was 'Terrifying'

by Michael Maloney, posted Mar 22nd 2011 9:00AM
Karina Smirnoff and Ralph MacchioRalph Macchio, 49, and Kirstie Alley, 60, are two of the older contestants on season 12 of 'Dancing With the Stars,' but after the first night of dancing they took early leads with top scores of, respectively, 24 and 23.

The star of 'The Karate Kid' and his pro partner, Karina Smirnoff, performed a Foxtrot that judge Len Goodman called the best one of the night.

Macchio's an actor; did that play a role in how successfully he embraced his part on the dance floor?

"Yes. Dancing is like acting only you use your body," said Smirnoff. "It allows him tap into the character so much better."

"[Acting] is less painful," joked Macchio. "Less painful."

by Kelly Woo, posted Feb 28th 2011 10:12PM
Dancing With the Stars 2011 season 12 castThe 'Dancing With the Stars' 2011 spring cast, announced Monday night during 'The Bachelor,' includes a talk show host, model, football star, '80s acting faves and Disney Channel starlet. So, all in all, it was a typical line-up for the popular ABC reality show.

The rumors we reported earlier came true: 'Cheers' star Kirstie Alley and former Hugh Hefner girlfriend Kendra Wilkinson were both on the official roster. And while Tea Party candidate Christine O'Donnell didn't end up joining 'DWTS' (and neither did Joy Behar, despite our wish list), pro wrestler Chris Jericho and talk show host Wendy Williams will be among the celebrities shaking their hips.

Two of the bigger names on the cast are actors who broke out in the '80s -- Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio. Can the 'Cheers' star and the 'Karate Kid' have a shot at following in the foosteps of Jennifer Grey, who starred in the classic 'Dirty Dancing'?

Kendra Gets Spooked by Noises Coming From the Basement in Her New House (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 27th 2010 3:36AM
'Kendra'Moving into a new house can be scary for plenty of reasons. One of the most harrowing experience is usually that first night. With the lights out and alone with our thoughts, every creak and grumble the house makes brings our imaginations to life. But I doubt any of us have heard the sounds we got on 'Kendra' (Sun., 10PM on E!).

With Hank away, Kendra was alone to settle into their new home back in LA. That first night, she heard a very sinister rumbling sound coming from the basement, where the unpacking was incomplete.

She mustered up her courage, and with her faithful dog by her side, made her way downstairs like so many classic haunted house stories. But when she got down there, it wasn't a ghost or a monster, or even a prowler, that had awakened her.

"See you in about 10 minutes." Bedtime, baby Hank! You shouldn't be awake for this...

She explains to him, "I need you as my husband, but I also need to find some independence with myself, too. I feel like a NFL wife," Wilkinson says, using air quotes. She doesn't want to move wherever he moves for his career. "We're gonna have to be apart, Hank."

Baskett isn't pleased with the separation. "I know I won't get to see his first steps," he says of their 1-year-old son.
