Outside the Box Interview: 'Grey's Anatomy'

by Neil Busch, posted Nov 17th 2010 1:00PM
Hot docs Outside the Box Interview with Jesse Williams and Kim Raver Jesse Williams and Kim Raver answered questions submitted by TV Squad readers for our Outside the Box interview show.

The 'Grey's Anatomy' co-stars sat down to talk about which real-life medical cases they'd like to bring to the show, other characters they'd like to play and how they dealt with last season's dramatic finale.

Raver and Williams gave us a little unexpected comedy when asked about their most awkward acting experiences. Williams had to stand naked in front of cast and crew while filming the movie 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,' while Kim had to do a love scene six months pregnant. Must have been really uncomfortable for the actor she was reading with... oh wait, that was Williams!

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7, Episode 5 Recap

Kym Raver as Teddy Altman on Greys Anatomy['Grey's Anatomy' -'Almost Grown']

'Grey's Anatomy' is starting to inch closer to the classic seasons when Meredith, Cristina, Alex, and even Lexie, were given a challenge and reacted maturely to their patients' situations. This episode also made Jackson and April look like total fools. I loved the idea of the Chief giving the fourth-year residents a chance to step up, even if it was for a day. It also gave the others to create a pitch for the Chief. While $1 million should be chump change for a high-ranking hospital, it was interesting to see what each of the doctors would do with the money.

Sara Ramirez showed really good comic timing in this episode, with Callie attempting to psych-out all of the other doctors. Freaking out Teddy with the table of contents joke, handing Arizona the packet of tissues, and then her interactions with the chief were priceless. We saw a glimpse of the cafeteria B-table (Callie, Arizona, Teddy and Mark) and it made me miss the original cafeteria room banter.

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7 Scoop: New Hookups, a New Start & More (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 10th 2010 5:10PM
If you're a 'Grey's Anatomy' fan, you've probably been thinking about last season's big finale for the past four months. Luckily, the wait for the new season (premieres Thurs., Sept. 23, 9PM ET on ABC) is almost over.

I sat down with Seattle Grace's newest full-time staff members, Jackson (Jesse Williams) and Teddy (Kim Raver), to talk about where we pick back up and how the hospital shootings have affected everyone ... and effectively restarted the show.

Apparently it's also brought out a lot of honesty in the doctors, and introduced a few new romantic prospects for Williams, Raver and the other remaining single characters. Like guest star James Tupper, who'll be playing the hospital grief counselor for at least the first three episodes. No way is he stopping by and not getting some action. "Some of us have counseling with him, and some of us don't," Raver says coyly.

I cannot wait. Are you excited for the new season of 'Grey's'? Or do you think you've seen it all when it comes to this show?

'Grey's Anatomy' - 'Hook, Line and Sinner' Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 29th 2010 11:00PM
The Sloan family adds a member.
(S06E20) After several weeks of repeats, 'Grey's Anatomy' returns with an explosion of cast drama. The episode on a whole underwhelmed and could have been placed before the repeats. The Arizona/Callie baby issues continue, Teddy is still awkward in her situation, Owen still feels caught between two women, and Mark is still in a midlife crisis.

There were classic moments that reminded me of the heyday of 'Grey's,' where Cristina was the squealing fan to the rock star doctor, when Bailey told it like it is to Lexie, and the final moment between Derek and Meredith. It saddened me when we saw a few seconds of the lunch room, and the smallest table had Meredith, Christina and Alex as the only people remaining from the original interns. Alex really needs a plot line instead of having to sit alone and pout about life.

'Grey's Anatomy' - 'Push' Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Mar 12th 2010 4:06AM
Lexie Grey is in tears.(S06E17) Chandra Wilson gets the opportunity to direct her own date this week on 'Grey's Anatomy.' Previously, she directed the episode 'Give Peace A Chance.' Sadly, the episode was not really substantial in any form or fashion. It followed the mold of the patients shaping the doctors (Teddy shouldn't be a bitch, Richard needs to calm down and see the big picture, and Arizona still doesn't want kids).

While everyone was working in a buddy system this week, in all truth, the only two pairs that worked were Meredith with Derek and Meredith with Christina. Maybe this show should return to the fact that it's 'Grey's Anatomy,' not 'Torres' Anatomy.' Meredith successfully called out Owen for being wishy-washy, and the five seconds of her with Derek was the best relationship in the whole episode.

James Van Der Beek MercyJames Van Der Beek has landed a recurring role on NBC's 'Mercy.' The 'Dawsons Creek' alum will play Dr. West on the freshman medical drama series, a "cocky" and "womanizing" doctor who is also harboring a major secret. If all goes well, Van Der Beek -- who has recently guested on shows like 'Ugly Betty,' 'The Forgotten' and 'One Tree Hill' -- could become a series regular. In the meantime, no word on when he'll officially scrub in. [Ausiello Files]

Doctor Altman, we officially have a love triangle in the cardiology department.

With old faces on 'Grey's Anatomy' moved on (T.R. Knight), or less visible (Katherine Heigl), a new one is staying – and sure to cause lots of fireworks, possibly between one of the show's hot hookups.

Kevin McKidd On His 'Grey's Anatomy's' Love Triangle and 'Percy Jackson'

by Michael Maloney, posted Nov 19th 2009 3:25PM
Kevin McKidd'Grey's Anatomy' has served up some great love triangles over the years (Meredith/Derek/Addison; Callie/George/Izzie), and it appears to have a winner in its latest romantic trio with doctors Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) and newcomer Teddy Altman -- Owen's fellow Iraqi medic -- played by Kim Raver.

McKidd gave us a preview of tonight's 'Grey's' episode (which covers Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's) and also talks about a variety of projects that have taken him outside of Seattle Grace -- but not necessarily away from hospitals.

Review: Grey's Anatomy - New History

Mark and the new doctor
(S06E09) "According to Google, you don't exist" - Cristina Yang

We've reached a maximum capacity on Grey's Anatomy where all the billed characters showed up for a few seconds on the show then disappeared; even the bartender showed up. This left a lot of characters segregated to the side. Meredith returned and was out of the loop for most of the episode, stuck in a room practicing her craft on a plastic dummy.

We also found the return of Izzie and the introduction of a new cardio doctor, Dr. Teddy Altman. While I grew to like Teddy, I really wished that Izzie would just go home and never come back.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kim Raver will be stepping into the job opening left by Knight's departure, starting with episode 9. Kim Raver won't be clocking any hours on 24 next season

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Aug 17th 2009 3:30PM

Kim RaverAt least that's what it sounds like 24 EP Evan Katz told EW's Ausiello. According to Katz, some of the things they have planned for the FOX drama's eighth season don't involve a Jack/Audrey reunion.

Can you blame them? 24 has had some doosie plots in the past that are pretty hard to swallow, but the last we saw of Audrey was at the very end of season six, and she didn't look so good. If she somehow ended up in the fold again next year (which takes place in New York City), I can't see people being too happy about it.
