Amy Sedaris on My Name is Earl

by Adam Finley, posted Oct 9th 2006 7:03PM
amy sedarisThe lovely and hilarious Amy Sedaris will be playing a role on the October 12 episode of My Name if Earl as a love interest for Randy. Amy will play Judy, a woman who loves cats. This turns out to be somewhat of an obstacle for Randy because he's allergic to felines. Meanwhile, Earl tries to return a prize cat to Judy after sabotaging a cat show to help Joy. I personally never watch My Name is Earl, though I did watch it a bit when it first aired, and even though network sitcoms ain't m' thang I'll contend it was better than most of what's out there. Being an Amy fan, though, I just might have to tune in for this episode. Who knows, maybe I'll get drawn back into the show again.

Tom Goes to the Mayor: Zoo Trouble

by Adam Finley, posted Aug 14th 2006 1:15PM

tom goes to the mayor(S02E11) When I watch shows in order to review them for TV Squad, I try to simply sit back and enjoy them as if I were any other fella sitting down to enjoy a TV show. In other words, I try not to get hung up on every little nuance and line of dialogue because I want to appreciate the show as it's meant to be, not turn it into some kind of archaeological dig where I over-examine every detail and completely suck the enjoyment out of the experience. I like to look for little details, of course, but I don't want to lose the whole package. This is my way. Yes, it is.

However, I can't completely neglect the blogger/writer part of me that knows he's going to be typing out something about the show once it's over, and some things I would normally ignore get stuck in my craw because of it. For instance, I thought this recent episode of Tom Goes to the Mayor was very funny, but there were two moments I felt were somewhat beneath the usual bizarre humor I expect from Tim and Eric. The first was a "Benny Hill" chase sequence, which has already been spoofed a million times, and a Scooby-Doo style "unmasking" at the end, which, to be fair, was pretty damn surreal, but I still felt it was a little too easy. These are minor complaints though, and the rest of the episode was pretty funny, I thought.

Check out clips from Puppy Bowl II

by Adam Finley, posted Feb 9th 2006 4:02PM

puppy bowlIs it possible to be paralyzed by cuteness? Because I think that's what happened while I watched these highlights from Puppy Bowl II on Animal Planet. Puppy Bowl was aired during the Super Bowl and consisted of three hours of different breeds of puppies frolicking on a tiny football field. The show was then repeated for a total of twelve hours. How could even the most jaded person not find this adorable? I think they should run this all the time. It would be the perfect respite from the nightly news.

Oh yeah, and halftime featured kittens, of course.
