Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth Make Out at 'The Tony Awards' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jun 14th 2010 2:20AM
Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth Make Out at 'The Tony Awards'Well, we're having a somewhat gay-ish night, TV-recap-wise. (And we mean that in a good way.)

And hey! What's that sound that we hear? Ah, yes ... it's 'The 64th Annual Tony Awards' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), hosted by Sean Hayes. The Tony Awards recognize excellence in live American theater, and have long been considered to be the classiest of all award shows.

As Sean began hosting the awards, he was joined onstage by Kristin Chenoweth, his current co-star on Broadway. Sean has recently come out as being gay, but that didn't stop Kristin from getting busy with him. She wished him luck as a host, then gave him a slight peck on the lips -- which quickly turned into a much longer make-out session, complete with tongue. Then, he slapped her on the butt.

After Kristin left the stage, Hayes seemed a little embarrassed by the attention, and all the hooting and hollering. So he tried to explain. "I know what you're thinking," he said. "She's too short for me."

'Glee' - 'Home' Recap

by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 27th 2010 10:25PM
Kristin Chenoweth as April in 'Glee' - 'Home'(S01E16) As the season moves on, the initial joy of 'Glee' remains; that feeling that was there in the pilot has been sustained. But with time there are also subtle shifts in tone and character, more music, changes that are part of the natural progression of a television show. With this second half of the season, we've now seen three episodes.

For some, last week's Madonna mash-up was the best 'Glee' ever. Not so much from my perspective. Too much hype and too little substance, much like the Material Girl herself. The episode lacked heart. With 'Home,' 'Glee' found the heart, delivered the substance and, in every way that matters, kicked ass with this episode.

Good News for Gleeks

by Stephanie Earp, posted Apr 13th 2010 3:29PM

I think I have established in my previous columns that I don't like 'Glee.' But here's the thing: you do. Or at least a great many of you do. Oprah likes 'Glee,' Ellen likes 'Glee,' even Michelle Obama likes 'Glee.' I have decided this week, in honour of the show's return on Tuesday, to put aside my own distaste and bring you, my readers, as much good news about 'Glee' as I can.

1. More Music

According to the producers, the second half of the first season will be even more loaded with musical numbers, jumping from 3-5 numbers to at least 5 numbers per 1-hour episode (some episodes are closer to 10 songs).

What other 'Glee'-ful things are in store? Read more after the jump!

'Glee' Season One, Part Two - An Early Look

The cast of 'Glee;' they come back to FOX April 12
Hey, folks! Did you hear? 'Glee' is coming back on Tuesday! Wow, Fox really kept that comeback under wraps, didn't they? Gone for four months, they seem to be bringing the show back without a lot of fanfare.

Too bad sarcasm doesn't translate very well in electronic print, but, believe me, I was rolling my eyes the whole time I wrote the last paragraph. Between the interviews, the appearance on 'Oprah,' the performance at the White House, the Rolling Stone cover, the weird 9:28PM ET time slot after 'American Idol,' and pretty much everything else going on, you couldn't avoid the comeback of 'Glee' if you tried.

But is the show coming back in good shape? Fox sent out the next three episodes out for review, and the answer is: yes and no. It really depends on what your favorite part of the show is.

'Glee' Co-Creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan Meet the Press and Spill the Beans

In anticipation of the Tuesday, April 13th premiere of Fox's musical hit 'Glee,' two of the co-creators, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, met with the press via a conference call the other day. TV Squad was in on the call and you'll be thrilled with some of the big news coming up in the last nine episodes of this award-winning first season. There were some insights revealed when the cast and the other co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy were on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' yesterday, but Gleeks want more, and that's what this is all about.

Among the highlights – for all you who need encouragement -- Jane Lynch does "Vogue" in the Madonna musical episode. Kristin Chenoweth was not paired up with Idina Menzel, but Kristin's episode (the third one back) is supposed to be wonderful. And if you liked Puck's performance of "Sweet Caroline," wait till you see him do a song like a member of the Rat Pack. For all the details, read on.

Kristin Chenoweth Talks About the Perils of Tweeting on Ambien (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Mar 23rd 2010 8:38PM
Kristin Chenoweth Talks About Twittering While on Drugs, on 'Ellen'You should never use Twitter while on drugs. Well, actually, you should never Tweet at all. (Unless you have truly deep thoughts that can fit into 140 characters.) But you should especially never Tweet while on drugs.

On 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Kristin Chenoweth talked about the perils of Tweeting while under the influence. Apparently, the 'Glee' star did some Tweeting while on the sleep drug Ambien, with unfortunate results. "I have tried to hide my own phone from my own self," she said, because of a bad experience Tweeting. During the crisis in Haiti, she was watching it one night while on Ambien and Tweeted that she would adopt a baby. And then forgot about it by the next day. Beware of Tweeting while on sleeping pills!

Changes Coming For Oscar's Best Song Nominees

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 16th 2010 10:40PM
crazy_heart_jeff_bridges_guitarIn recent years, the songs nominated at the Oscars have not been particularly memorable or worth the time during the broadcast to waste on music that nobody remembers after walking out of the multiplex. This year, ironically, there is at least one very good song that was going to be an Oscar highlight, assuming the producers convinced Jeff Bridges to sing 'The Weary Kind' from 'Crazy Heart' during the March 7th broadcast. That's not going to happen now.

New Oscar producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic have decided to drop the Best Song performances, according Entertainment Weekly. Instead of singers -- either from the movie or good enough to sing the songs from the movies -- we're going to see a montage of images from the picture with the soundtrack recording.

Molly Shannon Latest Star Cast on 'Glee'

by Kona Gallagher, posted Feb 11th 2010 10:38AM
molly shannonLook, I'm not saying that 'Glee' can do no wrong (the fake pregnancy storyline obviously refutes that), but they sure do a lot of things right. Not only do they have Kristin Chenoweth returning, Idina Menzel joining the cast, but now Molly Shannon is coming to wreak havoc at McKinley High.

According to Michael Ausiello, Shannon is playing Brenda Castle, McKinley's newest astronomy teacher/ badminton coach (did your high school have either of these things? Mine sure didn't). Not only that, but she's set to become Sue Sylvester's arch-nemesis, which is brilliant for several reasons.

One, because if Sue Sylvester has another arch nemesis besides Will, then that means more screen time for Jane Lynch, which improves any show by at least 65% (FACT).

First look at Ellen DeGeneres on 'American Idol'

American Idol Season 9 Cast Photo
Last night, we just had our eighth audition episode of 'American Idol,' and I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm ready to get to Hollywood. As much as I enjoyed Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth, I'm also ready to see what Ellen DeGeneres is going to do in her new role as Idol's fourth judge.

Luckily, FOX has just released a promo for Hollywood week, which is next week. At that point, DeGeneres joins the judges table for the first time to whittle down the 181 people who received Golden Tickets to 24 semi-finalists. For those of you who have watched the show in previous seasons, you know it's not a quick process: these contestants will be performing over three nights, with the Top 24 not being revealed until Wednesday, February 17.

Reviewcap: American Idol - Orlando Auditions

(S09E04) Sweet! Kristin Chenoweth is the guest judge, which means that this episode is going to be awesome. Okay, perhaps that's overstating it a bit -- it is the audition rounds after all, but it's surely going to be just a bit sunnier. I'm really looking forward to this one, especially since Chicago had such a disappointing turnout (I mean, really... 13 Golden Tickets out of 12,000? Seriously?).

Orlando doesn't disappoint, and actually ends up getting 31 people to Hollywood. However, Kristin is only there, for the first day, so I feel a little ripped off. If I have to deal with Avril Lavigne at some point, shouldn't I get at least two days of Kristin Chenoweth? Come on!

Glee and Breaking Bad top the Satellite Awards

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 22nd 2009 9:01AM
breaking_bad_desertThe winners of 2009 Satellite Awards were announced on Sunday in Los Angeles, and when you look at the winners on the television side, you have to like the choices. Most of these shows and actors have been on our year-end "best" lists, and if I were to guess, I think you'll see many of these names on the Prime time Emmy nomination roster.

The first thing that jumped out to me was Glee. The Fox musical dramedy was a winner in five different categories, including actors Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Kristin Chenoweth -- for her guest role -- recognized. And the show was named Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical.

Carrie Underwood on Her Holiday Special, Working With Dolly Parton and Her Favorite Christmas Song

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Dec 7th 2009 10:00AM
Carrie UnderwoodIt's been a busy fall for multi-platinum recording artist Carrie Underwood. In early November, the 'American Idol' winner released her third studio album, 'Play On,' and reprised her role as co-host of the CMA Awards, along side Brad Paisley. But she's also been in the Christmas spirit this season, as indicated by her two-hour variety special, 'Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special,' which airs tonight at 9PM on Fox.

The show will feature musical performances as well as skits, pairing Underwood with Dolly Parton, Kristin Chenoweth, 'Idol' season 7 winner David Cook and Christina Applegate.

Underwood recently spoke to reporters via a conference call about her special, plus her own thoughts on the holiday season. Here's what she had to say.

The Wicked truth is Idina Menzel wants to be on Glee

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 5th 2009 3:02PM
idina_menzel_cdCould it be that the cool show for guest appearances is going to be Glee? It well may be the case after Kristin Chenoweth's musical showstopper last October. Kristin's Tony-award winning costar from Wicked, Idina Menzel, wants to do Glee. How do we know? Her husband, Private Practice's Taye Diggs, confirmed it.

There's more to it than just that. Apparently the Glee fans -- Gleeks -- have noticed the remarkable resemblance between Idina and Lea Michele.

Why, she could be/play Lea's mother! They look alike and they are both big time Broadway belters. We've heard Lea's incredibly rendition of "Defying Gravity," the song that made Idina a star, on Glee, too.

Kristin Chenoweth's Christmas movie and Promises, Promises, too

Remember back in May when I wrote about Kristin Chenoweth making a Fa La La La La Lifetime TV movie for Christmas? Well, I did, and now the picture is upon us. The 12 Men of Christmas, premieres Saturday, December 5 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.

So on Saturday night, instead of going to a holiday party or shopping for gifts, gather around the TV and watch Kristin as E.J. Baxter, a New York publicist who comes up with the idea of a hunk calendar using the men of Montana. She goes west to find her twelve Montana men, and -- wouldn't you know it? -- she falls in love with one of the guys. Josh Hopkins from Swingtown. How bad could that be?

Kristin Chenoweth to return to Glee

I didn't think we'd seen the last of boozy old gleester April Rhodes, and now it's official. Kristin Chenoweth is reprising her role on Glee for at least one more episode, to air in early 2010. Creator Ryan Murphy didn't divulge any more info about her role, so there's no telling if she'll spend her time getting Kurt drunk again, or if she actually learned a lesson from her last visit and found happiness in Branson.

What's interesting is that Chenoweth has made no secret about her desire to return to Glee, perhaps in a permanent capacity, so could this second visit be paving the way for a place in the cast? Again, Murphy is keeping mum, but what if it is true? Where would they put April Rhodes? Do you really want her to be a member of glee club? Would she help Will coach? Will she form a love square between Will, Terri and Emma? After all, he did have a monster crush on her in high school.
