Lots of changes coming to CNN (and they don't involve Kathy Griffin)
It's a new year and CNN has decided to shake up it's daytime lineup. Here's what's going to happen later this month.- Heidi Collins is leaving the network. Her last day is January 15.
- Ali Velshi is taking over the 1pm to 3pm slot.
- Kyra Phillps moves to the 9am to 11am slot.
- Rick Sanchez keeps his 3pm to 5pm slot but his show gets a new name, Two Hours of Annoying Talk and Viewer Comments with Rick Sanchez. Actually, it's called Rick's List, which is an even worse title.
- Wolf Blitzer's show will be cut by an hour.
I like watching Phillips in the afternoon (I don't usually watch any of the cable news channels in the morning) so I'll miss her, but Velshi is a good choice.

Changes coming to the CNN lineup (unfortunately)
I can't tell you exactly what I'll be doing every weekday at 3pm starting September 8, but I do know one thing: I won't be watching CNN anymore.New CNN Director of Programming Scott Matthews sent out an e-mail to the entire staff earlier this week outlining the on-air changes that will start on that day. Heidi Collins will anchor solo from 9am to 11am, then Tony "I Always Look Over To The Side For Some Reason" Harris takes over solo from 11am to 1pm, then Kyra Phillips (she's great!) does the 1pm to 3pm slot, and then...drumroll please...Rick Sanchez takes over from 3pm to 4pm. I've talked about my aversion to Sanchez before, but I guess the people at CNN just don't see what viewers see. I suppose we should be thankful that he's only doing a one hour shift and not the two hours that the others are doing. I guess I can switch to something else between 3 and 4.
Where is Don Lemon in all of this? He won't be anchoring on the weekdays anymore. He's taking over the CNN Newsroom gig on the weekends and will become a correspondent the rest of the week.
The six best news anchors
Way back in August, I listed my choices for the three worst anchors on television. I said in that post that "later this week" I was going to name the best news anchors on television. Apparently, "later this week" meant seven months later. Sorry about that!
Here are my choices for the six best news anchors currently on television. Feel free to disagree and argue with me in the comments section (as if you need any suggestion from me for that).
Harry Potter and the Curse of the CNN Pranksters - VIDEO
The hell?
Did anyone else see this the other day? I was watching CNN and they had a report about Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe doing Equus on stage. They showed one of the controversial photos while the entertainment reporter was giving the story, and then the next photo they showed was of a guy who looked to be around 40, sitting naked in some serious pose, reading a book about wrestling icon Jerry Lawler. And they kept the photo on there for a lot longer than they should have. The reporter never stopped talking and never explained what happened, he just kept going and then handed things back to the main anchor. Very odd.

Note to all anchors: don't go to the can with a live mic - VIDEO
This has to be one of the funniest, though embarrassing, live news bloopers I've seen in a long, long time. Though I guess if it wasn't embarrassing for someone it wouldn't have been as funny...
While CNN was showing footage of President Bush giving a speech, the audio that viewers heard was anchor Kyra Phillips. No, not at the anchor desk, but in the CNN ladies room! You can hear Phillips talking to another CNN staff member, and even hear her "zip up" at one point.
But the most embarrassing part might be the part where Phillips insults her sister-in-law...before anchor Daryn Kagan jumps in. Video after the jump!
