Good News for Gleeks

by Stephanie Earp, posted Apr 13th 2010 3:29PM

I think I have established in my previous columns that I don't like 'Glee.' But here's the thing: you do. Or at least a great many of you do. Oprah likes 'Glee,' Ellen likes 'Glee,' even Michelle Obama likes 'Glee.' I have decided this week, in honour of the show's return on Tuesday, to put aside my own distaste and bring you, my readers, as much good news about 'Glee' as I can.

1. More Music

According to the producers, the second half of the first season will be even more loaded with musical numbers, jumping from 3-5 numbers to at least 5 numbers per 1-hour episode (some episodes are closer to 10 songs).

What other 'Glee'-ful things are in store? Read more after the jump!

Lady Gaga Tells You How to Get, How to Get to 'Sesame Street'

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 29th 2010 3:27PM
If you thought the music videos of Lady Gaga were a mine-field of mind-f#*$ery, then you haven't seen them...on 'Sesame Street'.

Someone out there with a computer, a backlog of 'Sesame Street' tapes and way too much time on his hands mixed the rhythmic tones of Lady Gaga's "Telephone" with the Yip-Yips aliens from the popular children's show. You might want to put down some newspaper before you watch it or the impact of your brain blowing might ruin your carpet.

Al Roker Reacts to Lady Gaga Parody Called 'Al Roker Face' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 25th 2010 11:30AM
Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry surprise Al Roker with a YouTube parody of a Lady Gaga song called 'Al Roker Face' on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC).

In this send-up of Gaga's second single 'Poker Face,' a singer in a platinum wig sings a loving ode to the weatherman. "Okay, I think we've seen enough of that," said a mortified Roker. But, Vieira and Curry don't stop there; they then perform an impromptu dance around the weatherman complete with hand gestures.

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper Speak on Women's Health, AIDS (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Feb 10th 2010 2:00PM
We're sure there's a positive message in here somewhere, but we think it's a little obscured by Lady Gaga's Christmas tree topper headdress. On 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), Gaga and Cyndi Lauper spoke out on women's health, pointing to their friendship as the kind women need in order to promote awareness of AIDS.

"This is the kind of relationship that we want to be an example for young women," she said while holding Lauper's hand. "I really don't feel that there's enough women that are really educated about AIDS ... and we want to do good jobs as women who represent a sexual community and a strong, independent group."

Jamie Foxx on Taking his Daughter to the Grammys (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 5th 2010 4:30AM
David Letterman, Jamie Foxx, GrammysYou'd think that it must be pretty cool to be Jamie Foxx's daughter. Even if you think your dad is the lamest thing on the planet, hey, at least you get to go to the Grammys and hang with all the cool people like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

Then again, we're not sure how cool it would be to do that and have your dad break into a chorus of 'Bad Romance' on the red carpet. Foxx stopped by 'Late Show with David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:30PM ET on CBS) to talk about the experience of taking his daughter Corinne -- who's in the 'Oh my God' stage -- to the Grammys.

The Barry Manilow - Lady Gaga Connection (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Jan 29th 2010 6:30PM
Barry Manilow talks about Lady GaGa music on 'Rachael Ray'You might be surprised to learn that Barry Manilow's pre-performance ritual involves Lady Gaga music. He stopped by 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated) and explained all.

"I gather with my band and my singers in our dressing room, and we turn up the music, like Lady Gaga, and jump around and get ourselves crazy so that when we walk on the stage, we're filled with energy." Yeah, she has that effect on us, too.

What to Watch: December 7 - 13

by Stephanie Earp, posted Dec 7th 2009 3:14AM

Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 - Wednesday December 9, 10 pm, Global/ABC

Babs' annual love-in raises the bar a little this year - or is it just that 2009 was a really bizarre year? The short list includes four people I would confidently call lunatics (though some use their crazy for good and others for evil) including Sarah Palin, Adam Lambert, Kate Gosselin and Lady Gaga. Tyler Perry is also on the list and I can't wait to see how Walters handles him. Tyler, if you are reading this, I beg you to do the interview in Madea drag. Brett Favre and Glenn Beck from the world of sports round out the published list. The top three fascinators will be revealed during the broadcast. Who wants to do a pool? My picks are Robert Pattinson, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.

What Michael P. is thankful for

by Michael Pascua, posted Nov 24th 2009 8:01PM
Barefoot Contessa's Ina GartenThanksgiving is the best time to reflect on the year and find out what one is grateful for. Like most people, I'm grateful for my family and our well-being, but I realize that it's the little things that can perk up a depressing day.

I cover a lot of reality shows and I found Hulu to be a great website for me to catch Glee, Modern Family, and Community without having to fill up my DVR. When Hulu gives me the option to play one long form commercial, I squeal, press play, and run to the bathroom to pee. When I get back Glee's preview is on. That show is better without either commercial or bathroom interruptions.

ABC's 'American Music Awards' Attracts 14.2 Million Viewers

by Leonard Jacobs, posted Nov 24th 2009 2:00PM
Adam Lambert may have offended viewers, and Jennifer Lopez may have fallen on her derriere. But ABC's broadcast of the 'American Music Awards' ended on a high note.

According to the Live Feed, the broadcast attracted a strong 14.2 million viewers and a 5.5 share in the coveted 18-49 demo.

ABC stated that the 'AMA's enjoyed its third straight year of total viewer gains and fourth straight year of viewership gains among young adults. If the final numbers prove true, that will mean the 2009 'AMA's rank as the year's third highest-rated awards show, behind the Academy Awards and the Grammys. It also marks the show's biggest tune-in since 2002.

American Music Awards: J.Lo falls, Adam Lambert freaks out parents

by Kona Gallagher, posted Nov 23rd 2009 10:04AM
adam lambertI had the American Music Awards on last night in the background, and for the most part it looked like a pretty standard awards show: People wore pretty dresses, played pianos suspended by wires, wore more makeup than their wives (I'm looking at you, Keith Urban), and simulated oral sex. Wait-- what?

Yeah, so for once, Lady Gaga's performance, which involved smashing a plate-glass window and setting a piano on fire wasn't the most interesting performance of the night. Instead, everyone is talking about two people: Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert. Lopez's unfortunate fall during her performance of "Louboutins" probably mortified her, but it wasn't the most awkward thing to happen during the ceremony. That distinction goes to American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert's decidedly non-family-friendly performance.

Review: Gossip Girl - The Last Days of Disco Stick

Gossip Girl - Lady Gaga
(S03E10) "Vanessa, you are in love with Dan." - Olivia

Last week's threesome scenes left a few viewers wanting more. This week, viewers were not only treated to more footage from the threesome scenes, but to a lot of drama caused by said Olivia-Dan-Vanessa threesome experiment. As expected, the threesome made Dan and Vanessa's feelings for one another resurface, even if they didn't clearly admit it or deny it.

The episode also featured a guest performance by singer Lady Gaga (pictured above in a behind the scenes photo with Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester).

Christopher Walken Performs Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' on 'Jonathan Ross' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 9th 2009 11:52AM
Sure, Christopher Walken sometimes plays a tad creepy and more than a little menacing, but as shown by his memorable footwork in Fatboy Slim's 'Weapon of Choice' video, his seven turns as host of 'Saturday Night Live,' and now this clip from BBC America's 'Friday Night With Jonathan Ross,' he also does funny.

Walken gives a spoken-word performance of Lady Gaga's monster hit 'Poker Face' using his trademark unique speech pattern and bizarre inflection. Once again he proves he could read the ingredients off a frozen package of vegetables and make it hilarious.
