Watch your skies for a special V promo

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 19th 2009 3:02PM
VABC is rolling out a special promotion for the V remake which starts on November 3.

The network is going to send up a skywriting plane to create giant Vs across the sky at 26 different landmarks across the United States. They're not saying where the skywriting will be, but I"m assuming it will be places like the Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, and The Grand Canyon. I don't know for sure if those places will be included, but I hope that the network gets the word out to local authorities so the public doesn't have some sort of weird panic when the letters show up in the sky.

ABC might be missing a big opportunity here though. What they should do is contact the Heene family and really send little Falcon into a UFO balloon right next to the skywriting. Every cable network would cover it live for hours.

Simpsons map of Springfield

springfieldBefore anyone says it, yes, I know this map of the fictional town of Springfield, home of the Simpsons, has been around for a long time, but it was linked on Digg recently and it seems to pop up on the blogosphere every now and again when someone new discovers it. So this is for those who haven't seen it yet, and for those who haven't seen it in awhile and want to see it again. The first thing that ran through my mind is that an accurate map of Springfield would be impossible to create, given the mercurial geography of the Simpson universe that allows the people behind the show to shift towns and landmarks around to fit a storyline or even a single gag. That being said, the map is at least an exhaustive list of every landmark, park, store, restaurant and whatever in the town of Springfield, from permanent fixtures like Springfield Elementary to places only seen once such as Area 51A and the Snowball II Municipal Cat Park.
