Cedric the Entertainer signs deal with ABC
by Julia Ward, posted Nov 28th 2006 4:02PM
Another King of Comedy has struck a network television deal. Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac show creator Larry Wilmore are developing a sitcom for ABC. The pilot hasn't been picked up, but if it does eventually make the airwaves, you'll get to see Cedric juggle life as the single father of a teenage girl with his life as a... wait for it... security chief at LAX. Cedric is, of course, known for his comedy specials and Barbershop films, but did you know that Larry Wilmore is an on-air contributor to The Daily Show and consulting producer to The Office? Personally, I hadn't connected those dots before now. Combining these talents could add up to funny, but the failsafe stand-up material - airport anxiety - could go either way -- a welcome pressure valve letting off America's collective steam or groan-worthy security gags that just aren't funny the 100th time around.
Hot guys cast in Old Christine, Lost
by Anna Johns, posted Jul 27th 2006 2:02PM
The hunky Blair Underwood has signed on to play a recurring role as a "hunky new teacher" at Richie's school, on The New Adventures of Old Christine. Underwood joined the cast after a pilot he was in, called Company Town, didn't get picked up by the networks. Most recently, Underwood co-starred in NBC's failed LAX with Heather Locklear. I swear, he doesn't look like he's aged a single day since he was on LA Law.In other casting news, that really hot Brazilian actor from Love Actually is joining the cast of Lost. His name is Rodrigo Santoro and, in case the name and the reference don't ring any bells, he played the co-worker who had the hots for Laura Linney in the movie. Not sure what role he's playing on Lost, but then again I don't really want to know in case it ruins something.
