Ria and Eli Get Awkwardly Romantic on 'Lie to Me' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 31st 2010 12:44AM
Ria and Eli Get Awkwardly Romantic on 'Lie to Me'Office romances! They're always a bad idea. But thank God, no office-related fooling around takes place on 'Lie to Me' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox). What a relief.

[Spoiler alert.]

Thus far, Ria (Monica Raymund) and Eli (Brendan Hines) have wisely refrained from engaging in a workplace romance. This shows considerable restraint on their part: especially since Eli has been flirting with Ria since their first meeting, some three seasons ago. On tonight's episode, the pair still avoid fooling around in the office ... they just wait until they're drunk in a bar after work. And then they start passionately -- and randomly -- making out. See, that totally solves the problem. No worries!

Turning Kidnappers Against Each Other on 'Lie to Me' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 24th 2010 5:35AM
Turning Kidnappers Against Each Other on 'Lie to Me'Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) is a genius-level psychologist, and an expert at uncovering the lies of others. But this doesn't mean that he's not willing to tell a few lies himself -- when necessary. On the new 'Lie to Me' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox), Cal tells a fib. He has a good reason for doing it, though. He does it in order to save another man's life.

[Spoiler alert.]

DEA agent Dave Burns (Max Martini) is kidnapped by drug dealers. The head kidnapper suspects that Dave caused the death of his father. To make matters more interesting, Dave is also the boyfriend of Dr. Gillian Foster (Kelli Williams) -- the woman that Cal Lightman is pretty much in love with. Obviously, Cal is still going to try to save David; but it makes it a little more poignant that he's risking his life for the man who is sleeping with his secret crush.

'Lie to Me' - Dr. Lightman's Daughter Is in Danger (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 17th 2010 12:44AM
'Lie to Me' - Dr. Lightman's Daughter Is in DangerWhat's the worst thing that you can threaten another person with? Probably it's when you threaten the life of their child. And that's what happens on 'Lie to Me' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox).

[Spoiler alert.]

Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) is dealing with the aftermath of a case from the past. Lightman sent a killer to his death for murdering an 8-year-old child. But now, it seems as though the same killer is still on the loose -- which would mean that Cal captured the wrong guy. Did Cal unwittingly prosecute an innocent man?

To make matters worse, it looks like the child-murderer is after Cal's daughter Emily (played by Hayley McFarland). At this point, Dr. Lightman gets a terrifying call over the phone: " ... Do you know where you daughter is?" It might be the worst message that a father could receive.

Miss 'The Shield'? Watch Tonight's 'Lie to Me'

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 16th 2010 4:20PM
'Lie to Me' - 'Pied Piper'Shawn Ryan may have stepped down as showrunner for the upcoming third season of 'Lie to Me' on FOX, but the executive producer still has a trick up his sleeve before he leaves. In tonight's episode, fans of Ryan's 'The Shield' can look forward to guest spots from five -- yes, five -- 'Shield' alums, according to TV Guide.

The episode centers around a married couple, played by Catherine Dent and Benito Martinez, who connect with Lightman and Zoe at the execution of the man accused of killing their son 17 years earlier -- only Lightman isn't so sure they're watching the right man die. That's when Ryan got to pull in some of his other friends. The trail leads to the executed man's brother (David Rees Snell) and ex-girlfriend (Cathy Cahlin Ryan), and ultimately to a photographer (Kenny Johnson).

Martinez said of the experience, "We found a whole new, completely different vocabulary and relationship that was organic to these characters. What was instant was our trust for each other."

Prime Suspect on 'Lie to Me'What to do when the man responsible for lies starts lying? That's the question on the current 'Lie to Me' (Mon., 8PM ET on Fox).

[Spoiler alert.]

Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) enters the dangerous underground world of street-fighting on the latest episode. But then -- through a complete accident -- he is implicated in the murder of one of the fighters. Cal is the last person to be seen with the murder victim. That's not good. That's never the type of situation that you want to be in.

Now, in order to solve the crime, Cal must lie to the authorities. And he also has to involve his co-worker in a lie. What happens when the man who can solve all deceptions has to lie and then lie and then lyingly lie some more? ... Oh, sorry. Did we just blow your minds? Anyway, will Cal's plan work out or not?

The Boss's Daughter on 'Lie to Me' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 27th 2010 12:05AM
The Boss's Daughter on 'Lie to Me'Teen romances are always a little tricky. But they're especially tricky when one of the parties involved isn't actually a teenager. And it's even worse when one of the parties in question is -- well -- the boss's daughter.

And that's the situation on 'Lie to Me' (Mon., 8PM ET on Fox). Emily Lightman (Hayley McFarland) has something of a crush on Eli Loker (Brendan Hines). Unfortunately, Eli is an adult, and Emily is a teenager.

To make matters worse, Emily suddenly kisses Eli while they're having a conversation about a concert. And to make matters even worse, Eli's boss is Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth), an expert in lies and deceit. When Cal finds out that Eli has kissed his daughter -- Cal punches him. And he punches him right in the stomach (or the groin; it's a little hard to tell). Ouch! Don't mess with the boss's daughter!

Shoshannah Stern Goes from 'Jericho' to 'Lie to Me'

by Anna Dimond, posted Jul 22nd 2010 3:34PM
The cast of 'Lie to Me' on FOX
Dr. Lightman is getting a new assistant, straight off the boat from Jericho and Agrestic. Shoshannah Stern will be joining 'Lie to Me' this season as a grad student whom the doc (Tim Roth) hires to help him with his new book.

The Fox show (Mondays at 8PM ET) follows the investigations of Dr. Cal Lightman, the world's top expert on detecting deception. He and his firm, The Lightman Group, aid federal law enforcement through their observation of even the tiniest of facial expressions to catch criminals in their lies.

Stern's character, like the actress, will be deaf -- a fact that EW reports will make some of Cal's colleagues question whether she's up to par to assist him. The hyper-observant doc, however, takes a shine to his new right-hand woman, who will be a recurring character for the show's upcoming third season, which premieres Nov. 10.

So is the villain one of the kids who already have a criminal record? No -- of course not! Duh!

Kelli Williams Talks About Selling Lemonade With Johnny Carson (VIDEO)

Kelli Williams Talks About Selling Lemonade With Johnny CarsonKelli Williams -- star of the drama 'Lie to Me' -- appeared on 'The Kilborn File' (weeknights, 7PM ET on Fox). There, she discussed her "normal" childhood, growing up in Beverly Hills as the daughter of an actress and a plastic surgeon.

Ms. Williams spoke of being a little kid in Hollywood, and having famous stars as her neighbors -- including Kenny Rogers, Sonny and Cher ... and Johnny Carson, who lived right across the street from her. Since tour buses stopped there to look at Johnny Carson's house, the young Ms. Williams opened up a business called "The Johnny Carson Lemonade Stand" -- in order to separate some of the tourists from their money.

The lemonade stand idea was Johnny Carson's own suggestion. While discussing the topic, host Craig Kilborn hinted that Johnny might have wanted a share of the profits from the lemonade. Ms. William neither confirmed nor denied this.
