Omarion on Joining 'Dance Crew': "I'm Sexier Than Simon" Cowell

by Anna Dimond, posted Jan 28th 2010 3:30PM
Omarion'America's Best Dance Crew' returns to MTV tonight at 10PM ET with dance crews from every corner of the country ready to throw down their moves and make their marks in the competition. High-energy and swelling with catchy beats, the show is kicking off its fifth season of pitting groups of young, hip-hop influenced dancers against each other for the top honors (and a cash prize).

This season, R&B wunderkind Omarion is joining 'ABDC' as a judge. He's replacing choreographer Shane Sparks, who in December was arrested on felony charges of child molestation. Sparks served as a judge on 'ABDC' alongside Lil' Mama and former *NSYNC member JC Chasez since the series launched in 2008.

'America's Best Dance Crew' Season 5 Premiere Preview

by Allyssa Lee, posted Jan 28th 2010 10:00AM
Mario Lopez and Randy JacksonBreak out your poppin' fresh moves, because 'America's Best Dance Crew' is coming back to MTV. Season 5 of the Randy Jackson-produced series, which pits different dance groups against each other in order to win over a panel of judges and the voting public alike, premieres tonight at 10PM ET. This year, R&B singer Omarion will be replacing Shane Sparks as a new judge alongside regulars JC Chasez and Lil Mama.

Here's the network's rundown of the 15 new crews who'll dance off for the title of America's best. Just based on names alone, my vote would have to go for Jungle Boogie from Stone Mountain, Ga., and Hype 5-0 from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Looking at the list, who do you think has the goods to stand alongside the likes of We Are Heroes and the JabbaWockeeZ?

America's Best Dance Crew back in August, but moves to Sunday

JabbaWockeeZConsidering how often MTV re-airs all of its original programming, I don't think it really matters when a show first airs on the network, but it's still bold moving Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew to Sundays at 9PM ET for its eight episode fourth season. Previous seasons have aired on Thursdays at 10PM ET. The show brought in big numbers in its Thursday slot, so methinks MTV is hoping to grow the brand. Maybe some cross-appreciation with So You Think You Can Dance could do it.

Shane Sparks recently appeared on SYTYCD with a couple of less-than-impressive choreographed numbers. Maybe Nigel would allow him to pimp the new season of ABDC there. Or bring in JabbaWockeeZ or one of the other past teams to dance on a results show of SYTYCD. How hot would that be? Speaking of, the new season of ABDC is preluded by a special highlighting the top ten dance performances ever on the show August 2 at 9PM ET. There've been some pretty sick performances on the show, so this is a must-see!

America's Best Dance Crew: Finale

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 22nd 2008 8:23AM
Fanny Pak (America's Best Dance Crew)(S02E11 ... or is that 12?) The live auditions were considered a sort of special, so does it count as episode one? This finale featured the return of all the crews from throughout the season and the results of which of the final two crews would be crowned. I'll just come right off the top and say that I was pretty disappointed to see Fanny Pak taken down before the finale. Of all the crews this season, they were the ones who got me the most excited.

The problem is I'm not sure which of the top two finalists I would have eliminated to make room for them. I just don't think either of them was stronger overall than Fanny Pak. Even the judges didn't seem pleased going into the finale with the remaining two crews. And unfortunately, throughout last week's performance episode, it was one disappointment after another until the final two dances. I appreciate the differences in these crews, but I don't think it was as exciting a finale as we could have had.
