Jon Stewart Cracks Up at Linda McMahon's WWE Highlight Reel (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 13th 2010 9:06AM
Generally, politics is only compared to sports using bad metaphors. But Linda McMahon's run for the Senate in Connecticut has made it clear that a staged sporting event and a political campaign are kind of the same thing.McMahon was the manager of the WWE for 29 years. Suddenly, she's the candidate for national political office. Wow. Politics are getting a little weird in this country, right?
Since Linda was involved in professional wrestling for so many years, there's a lot of odd footage of her. And Jon Stewart covers it all on 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on COM).
There's video of her "chugging" a beer, and getting in a "beat down" with wrestler Steve Austin. Also, there's a discussion of McMahon's daughter having the words "Slut, slut, slut" chanted at her.
Jon Stewart tries to hold it together, but eventually he just ends up cracking up about the whole thing. Welcome to politics in the year 2010.
WWE says Linda McMahon considering Senate run
by John Scott Lewinski, posted Aug 15th 2009 1:01PM
The problem with reporting real news originating in the professional wrestling world is that you never know if you're being played as part of a story angle designed to drive up ratings or pay-per-view buys. However, since the following hasn't been mentioned on any of World Wrestling Entertainment's television shows, it might be legit.
According to the WWE: "Linda McMahon, CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, is considering a run for the United States Senate representing the state of Connecticut. Should she decide to run, Linda would step down as CEO, and Vince McMahon would assume the duties of CEO in addition to his current position as WWE Chairman."
