'The Event,' 'Law & Order: Los Angeles' Canceled
by Jean Bentley, posted May 13th 2011 2:40PM
In the midst of NBC's flurry of pilot pickups (hooray, Chelsea Handler sitcom!) and series renewals (yay, 'Chuck'!), the network let the ax fall on two of its bubble shows.Freshmen series 'The Event' and 'Law & Order: Los Angeles' are both canceled.
According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC will not pick up 'The Event,' its alien drama, for a second season. The show premiered strong, but its viewership slipped drastically throughout the season and just couldn't gain any momentum after its winter hiatus. However, it might not be completely dead: Deadline is reporting that the producers are shopping the show to other outlets, including Netflix.
Deadline is also reporting that 'Law & Order Los Angeles' has also gotten the hook, even after a drastic overhaul that saw Skeet Ulrich get killed off, Alfred Molina change professions, Corey Stoll shave his mustache and Alana De La Garza join the cast.

'Law & Order: LA' Returns With Tragic Shooting (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 12th 2011 4:13AM
After a lengthy hiatus during which the show was creatively retooled, the now shorter named 'Law & Order: LA' (Mon., 9PM ET on NBC) returned to the air with a two-episode premiere. Fans of the original incarnation of the series, and particularly of Skeet Ulrich's Detective Rex Winters, were in for a very difficult evening. One thing's for certain, though. After what went down in Winters' home, Ulrich won't be returning to the 'L&O' franchise anytime soon.
In keeping with their tradition of trying to depict the world of crime and punishment as raw and real as they can, the writers had Winters get shot down in a drive-by shooting.

Hall's character, ADA Evelyn Price, worked for Alfred Molina's ADA Morales, while Boone's DDA Lauren Stanton worked under Terrence Howard's Joe Dekker. Ulrich's Detective Rex Winters appeared on 'Law & Order: SVU' in a 2010 episode.
'Law & Order' Beat: Making the Living Look Dead
by AOL TV Staff, posted Nov 10th 2010 4:00PM
As its first season progresses, 'Law & Order: Los Angeles' (Wed., 10PM on NBC) is adding to its pile of dead bodies. But how exactly do they get those bodies to look so dead?Guest star Andres Perez-Molina took us behind the make-up to show how much work goes into making a live actor look like a dead victim.
When Perez-Molina's character, oil rig worker Freddy Ramirez, turns up dead on the shore, Detectives Winters (Skeet Ulrich) and Jaruszalski (Corey Stoll) take the case. However, some paperwork turns up indicating this may be more than just a random murder.

'Law & Order: Los Angeles' Premiere: Watch Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Footage
by Sharon Knolle, posted Sep 29th 2010 11:30AM
When 'Law & Order: Los Angeles' premieres tonight (10PM ET on NBC), it will be the first time in over 20 years that the mothership show, 'Law & Order,' isn't on the air. Instead, the familiar "chung-chung" sound will be heard on 'SVU,' 'Criminal Intent' (on USA) and this newest edition.
Set amid the bright lights of Hollywood and the gritty streets of South Central, the show stars Skeet Ulrich, Terrence Howard and Alfred Molina, Rachel Ticotin, Corey Stoll and more as the cops and prosecutors charged with dispensing justice in L.A.
'LOLA' kicks off with a crossover from its sibling, 'SVU,' which premieres tonight at 9PM ET. Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson heads to Los Angeles for a case about the "backlog of untested rape kits," she told E! News.
In Plain Sight: Trojan Horst
by Allison Waldman, posted Jun 23rd 2008 11:23AM
(S01E04) Okay, this was the best episode of In Plain Sight to date. Action-packed and filled with character revelations, if this is where In Plain Sight is going, it's going to definitely make it beyond this premiere season. The set up has Marshall and Mary taking custody of a seemingly innocuous, diabetic, asthmatic accountant/arranger for a hit man named Lola. He's been caught in an FBI sting and will go WITSEC in exchange for "delivering" Lola.
Expertly played by Dave Foley (News Radio), he's just enough of an unctuous ass to make him amusing. When Mary throws him to the ground and pounces on him, he says, "Could you get off of me, you're not exactly petite."
The role was very much like Charles Grodin, a mob accountant, in the movie Midnight Run, with Robert DeNiro as the bounty hunter forced to take him cross country. (If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and rent it; it's great!)

How to make your dog a TV star
by Julia Ward, posted Nov 15th 2006 9:07AM
Ever watch Frasier and think your dog could trounce Eddie in a cute-off? Don't have any kids to hustle around Hollywood for pocket change? How do you even know if your pooch makes the grade when it comes to potential television stardom? Well, the LA Times got a rundown on celebrity canine characteristics from Le Paws pet talent agency and Pomeranian stage mom Melissa Howard. If you're aiming for Benji and not knock-off Boomer fame, the things your dog needs to know include tips like "get an agent," "get a publicist" and "you have to love it." Sounds about the equivalent of the advice they give would-be Hollywood actors, writers and directors.
