Lauren Graham in 'Parenthood,' More Than Lorelai Gilmore 2.0?
Maybe it's just me, but in every promotion for NBC's upcoming family dramedy 'Parenthood,' the images of Lauren Graham has a 'Gilmore Girls' vibe. Will Lauren be able to convincingly play a new character, divorced mom Sarah Braverman, and erase the nostalgic shadow cast by her performance as single mother Lorelai Gilmore? Or are we to believe what the NBC ads are showing us -- that Sarah B. is really just Lorelai 2.0.According to Joel, who saw the pilot, Sarah is no Lorelai. She's not chummy-chummy with her children. She's a lot tougher and more of a mom than a buddy. That would definitely be different from 'Gilmore Girls.' Lorelai and Rory's relationship was unique because they were really best friends... most of the time.
First look at Lauren Graham on NBC's Parenthood
NBC has just released the first two promos for Parenthood, which is now premiering in March, after the Olympics. The first one features Graham as Sarah, a single mom to two difficult teenagers. Her daughter is played by Arrested Development's Mae Whitman. It's a short clip, but it's a pretty good indication of the character, which is basically what would have happened to Lorelai Gilmore if Rory hadn't turned out so perfect.
Six TV characters with whom I'd like to share July 4th - VIDEO
So, did you hear that they did a poll they did to determine which presidential candidate people would like to hang out with at a barbecue? Obama won 52 to 45 percent over McCain, which may not mean very much in the long run, but the day before July 4th it made news. The thought of barbecues and July 4th parties got me thinking about which TV characters with whom I'd like to spend Independence Day. I wouldn't want them here at my place, though, I want to go to their places. I have high expectations, too, and a vivid imagination.
Here's the six TV characters who could expect me to join them to watch the rockets red glare -- if only they were real live folks and not just my fictional faves.

Who wants to buy the Gilmore Girls Jeep?
Are you a fan of Gilmore Girls? Looking for a set of wheels to get you from A to B? Have at least 35 grand laying around? Then you can own one of two Jeep Wranglers used on the show.Yep, somehow a private seller has gotten a hold of one of the Jeeps Lauren Graham used to drive around as Lorelai Gilmore and has put it up for sale on eBay. How do I know it's a private seller? From the disclaimer in itty-bitty type at the bottom of the listing: "This sale is being conducted by a private seller. Time-Warner, Warner Bros., and Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions are not invloved (sic) in this offering in any way."
Lorelai Gilmore has a suggestion for Jack Bauer - VIDEO

Sure, it's an unlikely pair.
Stars Hollow inn proprietor Lorelai Gilmore and Los Angeles counter-terrorism agent extraordinaire Jack Bauer. But the pop culture savvy Gilmore Girls writers found a way to link the two characters.
In a promo for next week's Gilmore Girls -- where Lorelai tries to reconcile with her former fiance Luke Danes -- she decides to bring Luke with her while she shops for a new car.
When the jaunt gets a bit tense and the two bicker like they used to do in previous seasons, Lorelai gets on her omnipresent cell phone and suggests that Jack Bauer should use car shopping with an ex as a way to torture terrorists.

Welcome to Gilmorepedia
I've said it before and I'll say it again: we have way too much free time on our hands. Case in point is the Gilmorepedia, a new entry in the ever-growing wiki community that can be found on the Internet. This wiki's particular focus is on the WB/CW program Gilmore Girls.
Well, it will be this wiki's primary focus. Right now, it's pretty empty. All that's entered is a brief plot outline of the show, pictures of Lorelai and Rory, and summaries of the first five episodes of the premiere season. So, it could certainly use some input from those of you who also have way too much time on their hands. No, seriously. It would be nice to have a central location for Gilmore Girls material; it certainly helps us poor bloggers out when we need a particular piece of information about the show.
So, community of the Internet, start filling in the blanks over at Gilmorepedia. You can get there via this link.
