'Love Bites'It's been reported that NBC has officially pulled the plug on its romantic anthology series, 'Love Bites.' The final episode of nine will air Thursday night.

The hotly anticipated series was plagued by production difficulties and casting issues and never really caught fire with viewers.

'Love Bites' was created by 'Sex and the City' writer Cindy Chupack, who stepped down as showrunner to a consulting producer position during production.

Jeff Tries to Fake a Foot Fetish For His Girlfriend on 'Love Bites' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 8th 2011 5:59AM
'Love Bites' - 'TMI'It's actually kind of surprising that no one seems willing to give 'Love Bites' (Thu., 10PM ET on NBC) a chance. It premiered with 2.64 million viewers and has since dropped below 2 million, which means most viewers don't even know what a fun little romantic comedy NBC is giving us each week.

It's just the kind of light summer fare that usually thrives, or is it that we don't like our light shows without crimes to solve or patients to save. Either way, we're at least enjoying the creative blend of anthology and ongoing narrative with cleverly interweaving plotlines tying everything together.

This week opened with a couple where it's revealed that the woman, Bridget, has a fetish for men in uniform. To help her feel less weird about it, her boyfriend Jeff pretends to have a foot fetish. Only then he had to actually try to fetish her feet, as he put it.

Isaiah Mustafa Cheers Up His Fellow Astronaut on 'Love Bites' (VIDEO)

Isaiah Mustafa, 'Love Bites''Love Bites' (Thu., 10PM ET on NBC) continues to be a fun diversion for summer, like a fluffy romantic comedy where you know every beat of the plot, but it manages to pull you along regardless. With it's anthology format revolving around a core group of characters and plethora of guest stars, it's reminding us more and more of 'Love Boat' each week.

This time around, we got a strange little story set up in space where somehow Ken Jeong is allowed to be an astronaut. More expectedly, he provided a little bit of comic relief as well. Eddie McClintock ('Warehouse 13') was convinced his girlfriend was cheating on him, but he learned that her picture was cheating on him as well with Jeong's character in the bathroom.

love bites nbcNBC's summertime romantic comedy 'Love Bites' (Thu., 10PM ET on NBC) is still truckin' on.

This week's episode, 'Keep on Truckin,' saw Annie (Becki Newton) mistaking handsome bachelor Matt (Matt Long) for her blind date.

A very pregnant Annie goes on to make a bigger fool of herself by denying Matt a kiss, only to find out that he was reaching in not to kiss her, but to help her fix her "detachable breast."

A Gay Son's Marriage Proposal Sends Mom Into a Panic on 'Love Bites' (VIDEO)

by Mike Moody, posted Jun 10th 2011 9:30AM
love bitesIt's summer! Time for the networks to burn off some of their more, shall we say, expendable projects. Enter 'Love Bites' (Thurs., 10PM ET on NBC), the new romantic comedy anthology series featuring a stable of familiar faces (Greg Grunberg, Guillermo Diaz, Constance Zimmer).

On Thursday's episode, Kurtwood Smith, who's probably best known for playing hard-ass dad Red Foreman on 'That '70s Show,' starred as a more understanding father who offers a congratulatory toast minutes after learning that his gay son plans to marry his partner. Smith's wife, however, had a more nervous and negative reaction to the big news, to put it lightly.

Just Fired, Carter Hears Suspicious Noises From the Bedroom on 'Love Bites' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 3rd 2011 2:38AM
'Love Bites' premiere - 'Firsts'After delays pushed it out of the regular season altogether, 'Love Bites' (Thu., 10PM ET on NBC) finally premiered. Was it worth the wait?

Certainly it's a fun and light romp through romance. The pilot followed three separate tales, though there is a character connection tying them together. We also got some fun guest appearances like Krysten Ritter, Craig Robinson and Jennifer Love Hewitt as herself.

In the middle story, Carter found a day going from bad to worse after he lost his job and came home to find his girlfriend in bed with another lover ... of sorts.

'Love Bites' Stars Greg Grunberg & Constance Zimmer Preview Their New Romantic Comedy

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jun 2nd 2011 3:00PM
Greg Grunberg & Constance ZimmerIf you're working in Hollywood, chances are you've been dealt some bad news a few times in your career -- you didn't get a part, or your show has been cancelled. But it's not often that you get that bad news in front of a journalist.

Yes, I had the great (almost) misfortune of being on the set of 'Love Bites' back in December, the day they found out that NBC had cut their order (after rejiggering showrunners and pushing the show's launch several times and refusing to commit to a premiere date).

Not ideal, by any means, but stars Greg Grunberg and Constance Zimmer rallied and gave good interview, even with the awkward news in the air.

So what is 'Love Bites'? And if it's got all this drama before it even premieres, is it worth watching? Well, here are the facts: It's an hour-long romantic comedy premiering tonight (Thurs., June 2, 10PM ET on NBC) that tells three semi-connected stories each episode. One follows single and pregnant Annie, played by 'Ugly Betty' alum Becki Newton. The other is about fun married couple Colleen and Judd (Zimmer and Grunberg). And the third is a wildcard.

Becki Newton'Love Bites,' NBC's hourlong romantic comedy that has been plagued with mishaps, can add one more to its belt: The network has cut the episode order from 13 to nine.

According to Vulture, production on the series will end next week.

'Love Bites' was supposed to premiere during the Fall 2010 season in the Thursdays at 10PM time slot, but series star Becki Newton's ('Ugly Betty') pregnancy and Cindy Chupack's ('Sex and the City') departure as showrunner caused NBC to shift the series to midseason. Prior to the official midseason change, 'My Boys' star Jordana Spiro left 'Love Bites' due to her commitment to the since-canceled TBS comedy.

NBC Moves 'Love Bites' to Midseason; 'Apprentice' to Fill Timeslot

by Andrew Scott, posted Jul 1st 2010 6:20PM
Love BitesTalk about a pregnant pause: According to the Ausiello Files, NBC has shifted its upcoming love anthology series 'Love Bites' to midseason, because star Becki Newton ('Ugly Betty') is pregnant with her first child and Cindy Chupack ('Sex and the City') has decided to step down as showrunner.

'Love Bites' was expected to air Thursdays this fall in NBC's prime 10PM timeslot.

"Launching an anthology series, which breaks the form in so many ways, is a huge undertaking, and I strongly feel that I can be most helpful not showrunning, but writing. It just become clear that for several reasons, some of them personal, this change (and a little more time) is what we need to launch this show properly," Chupack said in a statement.

According to the report, NBC will instead air a brand-new season of 'The Apprentice,' which is already well into production.

Meanwhile, as previously reportedly, co-star Jordana Spiro is leaving the show due to her commitment to the TBS comedy series 'My Boys.'

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 25th 2010 9:20AM
It's been reported that Jordana Spiro has left the cast of 'Love Bites', the hotly anticipated new show from 'Sex and the City' writer Cindy Chupack.

Spiro's still contractually bound to her TBS sitcom 'My Boys,' and even though that seems unlikely to be renewed for a fifth season, NBC was said to be unwilling to risk a clash by giving her a starring role in 'Love Bites'.

The new hour-long romantic comedy is planned for the 2010-11 fall season and was to star Spiro and Becki Newton ('Ugly Betty') in the pivotal roles of Frannie and Annie, two single women exploring the worlds of love and dating while all their friends are getting married around them. It's unclear if Spiro will be replaced in the role of Frannie.
