Guess why the new KFC commercial irritates the hell out of me
by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 20th 2009 3:31PM
I thought that, as I got older, I'd mellow out when it came to illogical commercials, but that hasn't happened. I see something in an ad and it irritates the hell out of me every time I see it (and when you watch TV for a living you see the same commercials 20 times a day). So guess why the new KFC "Unthink" commercial irritates me so much. It has nothing to do with the quality of the meal or the price or the arrogance of the two guys eating the chicken.

NBC scores with Inside the Obama White House
by Allison Waldman, posted Jun 4th 2009 10:10AM

If Jay Leno isn't the answer for NBC prime time, perhaps the network should think about booking President Obama. NBC News devoted two hours, on Tuesday and Wednesday night, for Inside the Obama White House and the ratings were strong. Better than the insipid I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, which acted as a lead-in. Of course the season finale of Law & Order: SVU on Tuesday didn't hurt the news production.
Having watched the two hours, NBC should sign the president ASAP. There's always the curiosity factor when a viewer is being given access behind the scenes, and that's what Inside the Obama White House did. It was a look at the real West Wing, which reminded me a lot of the fictional, Aaron Sorkin West Wing creation, and that was quite cool. President Obama still fascinates me, and it's well past 100 days.
Would you like some Hamm with your lunch?
by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 9th 2009 1:04PM
Have you ever had a fantasy in which you had lunch with your favorite television celebrity? Well, if you have the cash on hand, now's your chance. Celebrity lunches up for auction include Jon Hamm, Nathan Fillion and Kevin Smith, among others (Patrick Duffy? He's still around?). All proceeds benefit the Adrienne Shelly Foundation for female filmmakers.Honestly, if you did participate in the auction and win one of the lunches, what would you say to the person? I've been tongue-tied in front of celebrities before, when I was much younger. Would you simply ask how they're doing? Would you try to promote that script you've been working on for year? Would you have to buy the lunch, or would the celebrity pay?
Note to self: Don't eat while watching CSI
by Anna Johns, posted May 19th 2006 12:06PM
I am so embarrassed to admit that I do this every week. I don't watch CSI on Thursday nights because I don't care about it enough to catch it as soon as it airs (unlike Lost). I usually flip on the television during lunch or breakfast and watch whatever was recorded the night before. Inevitably, every Friday, I casually turn on CSI while I'm eating a meal. And, about 10-15 minutes into the show, I lose my appetite. This morning, I was eating Frosted Mini-Wheats (because I'm an adult) and looking at a severed head. Actually, it was a body without a head. A nice, bloody close-up. Guess what? The rest of my cereal went into the garbage disposal. Will I ever learn? Sadly, I don't think I will.TV Squad Hot Topics
