WWE Superstar The Big Show Talks About Comedy And Kissing Guys
by Ryan McKee, posted Oct 1st 2010 4:30PM
WWE fans know the 7-foot, 400-plus pound Paul Wight as The Big Show -- one of the most dominant wrestling superstars of the last 15 years. But through the years, Wight has shown he's not just a looming ogre. He is also a gentle giant with a knack for comedy, appearing regularly on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' and stealing scenes with cameos in movies and TV shows.
The Big Show has his first starring role in the upcoming film 'Knucklehead,' the first comedy produced by WWE Studios. To promote the film as well as 'WWE Friday Night SmackDown's' move to the SyFy network, The Big Show talked to TV Squad about getting laughs, his favorite Conan O'Brien moment and kissing dudes.
Best MacGruber 'SNL' Skits
by Megan Friedman, posted May 21st 2010 5:00AM
He can diffuse bombs by just using a paper clip -- all while rocking plaid shirts and a mullet. He's MacGruber, played by Will Forte in a series of 'Saturday Night Live' sketches that started in 2007, parodying the 1980s series 'MacGyver.'
The setup is always the same: MacGruber, an assistant (played either by Maya Rudolph or Kristin Wiig), and another character played by the show's host are stuck in a room -- with a ticking time bomb about to go off in 20 seconds.
Can MacGruber save the day?

'Saturday Night Live' - 'Ryan Phillippe/Ke$Ha' Recap
by Annie Wu, posted Apr 18th 2010 1:00PM

(S35E19) All in all, a pretty mediocre episode. Ryan Phillippe didn't seem to stretch himself in any way. Well, okay, okay, he dressed up as a chick for a sketch, but apart from that, there was no palpable attempt to celebrate the fact that Ryan Phillippe was hosting or play to his strengths. I mean, I won't pretend I know what those particular strengths are, but 'Saturday Night Live' usually does a fair job of letting hosts try something dramatically out of their comfort zone or play up something unexpected. There was no sense of that in this episode.
Maybe they wanted to keep the episode toned down to counter whatever amount of crazy Ke$Ha wanted to unleash. By the way, that girl looks like she perpetually smells like drugstore watermelon body spray and BO. If that's the look she's going for, she's really nailing it.
Watch the 'MacGruber' Restricted Trailer
by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 2nd 2010 3:00PM
The 'MacGruber' movie may be nearly two months away from hitting the big screen -- it arrives in theaters May 21 -- but that hasn't prevented a full-out marketing blitz. There's a new NSFW trailer of the 'SNL' adaption, which you can watch after the jump. We get to see MacGruber (Will Forte) putting together his team to fight the so-called world's most dangerous man (Val Kilmer), along with Kristen Wiig as a master of disguise.
If the trailer is any indication, 'MacGruber' is going to be a slapstick festival of double-entendres (if you're looking for subtle, move on). Probably a good excuse to turn your head off for an hour and a half and sit in an air-conditioned room on a hot spring day.
MacGruber! His Movie's Pushed Back to May Because of Scheduling Conflicts! MacGruber!
by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 4th 2010 10:15PM
That ticking countdown clock that has been a device of countless action explosion movies has just gotten a few more minutes on the clock. Don't you just love it when life imitates art? The big screen 'MacGruber' movie, based on the popular 'SNL' sketch, has earned a later release date due to scheduling conflicts with other Warner Bros. properties.
The movie, directed by 'Lonely Island' member and 'SNL' writer Jorma Taccone, will hit a theater near you on May 21 instead of April 9.

'MacGruber!' The Creator of 'MacGyver' Wants to Stop the Movie. 'MacGruber!'
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 3rd 2010 1:08PM

Twenty seconds MacGruber!
So fans of the Will Forte/Kristin Wiig 'Saturday Night Live' sketch 'MacGruber' are counting down the minutes to the April release of the big screen version of the small screen parody. Or maybe we're not counting the minutes. This movie could suck like a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Or it could be really funny! Who knows? Movies based on 'SNL' sketches could easily go either way.
One person who doesn't want us to find out is Lee David Zlotoff. He created 'MacGyver' back in the 1980s and he wants to stop the movie from being released. Zlotoff has a deal to bring 'MacGyver' himself to the big-screen and doesn't want to see this parody there as well. Zlotoff's lawyer says that the film is "infringing on our rights." I wonder if the filmmakers neglected to get a thumbs up from Zlotoff and Paramount before making the movie? Zlotoff has also been a producer/writer on various shows, including 'NCIS,' 'Hill Street Blues,' 'Bret Maverick,' and 'Remington Steele.'

Here's the trailer for MacGruber (MacGruber!)
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 19th 2010 2:30PM
Oh, this could be really funny or it could be really awful. It's MacGruber, the big-screen movie based on the Saturday Night Live sketch, and we know how often those things turn out well. By the way, this is a red-band trailer so it's NSFW (funny name for Val Kilmer's character though).
Charles Barkely as MacGruber Sidekick on 'SNL' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Jan 11th 2010 10:20AM
On 'Saturday Night Live,' host Charles Barkley appeared as sidekick Darrell in a "MacGruber" sketch and was the victim of racial stereotyping by the titular secret agent. In the sketch, a recurring parody of 'MacGyver' in which an inept secret agent uses common household items to unsuccessfully get himself out of jams, MacGruber hurls ethnic slurs and an offensive joke at Barkley while simultaneously trying to disarm a nitrogen bomb.

MacGruber! Making his own movie out of household materials, MacGruber!
by Danny Gallagher, posted Jul 9th 2009 11:04AM
Hollywood's latest choice for a Saturday Night Live film remake is both the strangest and most interesting choice they could make, short of a big screen "Weekend Update" action epic or a "Toonces the Cat" feature-length Pixar film. Variety reports that Lorne Michaels and company are creating a big-screen remake of the show's popular "MacGruber" sketches. Cast member Will Forte will take on the title role and pen the movie's script along with SNL writers John Solomon and Jorma Taccone, the latter of whom is better known as one-third of the musical comedy group The Lonely Island.
Kristen Wiig will also star as MacGruber's object grabbing sidekick Vicki. Ryan Phillipe and Val Kilmer have been attached to the project, but their roles haven't been nailed down yet.

Will Forte talks about the MacGruber movie
by Mike Moody, posted Jun 2nd 2009 1:29PM
Will Forte is hilarious. Last night, he stole the show from Jimmy Fallon on Late Night, which admittedly doesn't seem very hard to do, with non-stop jokes and a mini rock opera. He might not be the most popular comedic actor on Saturday Night Live, but he's definitely one of the funniest. That's one of the reasons I'm looking forward to his MacGruber movie.Yup, a MacGruber movie. Forte told Fallon about a script he wrote for a feature film based on the SNL sketch. "John Solomon, Jorma Taccone, and I just finished writing it. We're gonna make it in Albuquerque. It's me and Kristen Wiig and cast to be determined," he said. Video after the jump.
