'True Blood' Rolling Stone Cover: Bloody Hot or Too Gruesome?

by Ryan McKee, posted Aug 18th 2010 10:33AM
Have you been watching 'True Blood' and thought, "You know, this would be a great show if it only had more blood and nudity."? Probably not, especially with all the buff Weres this season. Still it's nice to know that Rolling Stone magazine is looking out for those of us who love seeing sexy, bloody naked people.

The 'True Blood' threesome Alexander Skarsgård (vampire sheriff Eric Northman), Anna Paquin (telepath Sookie Stackhouse) and Stephen Moyer (gentleman vampire Bill Compton) appear on the cover of the latest Rolling Stone -- available on newsstands today. In order to out-sexy Katy Perry's cover last month, where she appears in her underwear, the HBO stars are buck naked and blood-splattered. They have joined such nude-cover greats as John Lennon, Lady Gaga and The Dixie Chicks.

Oprah, Martha make Fortune's 'Most Powerful' list

by Anna Johns, posted Oct 3rd 2006 10:38AM
oprah winfrey; martha stewartOn Fortune magazine's annual ranking of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business, Oprah comes in at number 8 (Rich mentioned this, too) and Martha Stewart at number 28. Fortune included Oprah because of her vast empire, including a new satellite radio channel called Oprah & Friends. She was bumped down from number 4 on last year's list. Number one this year is Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo. I'm not sure how they rank the women, but I think if Oprah told everyone to stop drinking Pepsi, Indra would be in trouble.

And, while Martha's stock is flat and her version of The Apprentice failed, she makes the list because of her big-time partnerships with KB Home, Macy's and Kodak... plus she still has a very successful publishing business.

TiVo launches Guru Guide

by Adam Finley, posted May 22nd 2006 6:27PM

tivoToday TiVo launched Guru Guide, a new service where editors, critics, and experts from various magazines create lists of shows about a certain topic. For example, a person from Automobile Magazine may suggest shows having to do with cars or auto racing. The service, which is not available to subscribers who got TiVo through DirecTV, will allow one to record all the shows on one of the lists, or to pick which ones they want. Right now, the lists can only be obtained through TiVo's Web site, but the company says they'll be added to the television command screen in the next few months. The idea, basically, is to utilize the single focus of magazines to create "networks." As a TiVo user, I guess I'm mildly interested in this, as it may inform me of shows I haven't heard of and might like. I couldn't imagine letting some stranger from Star Magazine choose all my shows for me, though. What do you guys think?
