Kathy Griffin Spoofs 'Hills' When Lauren Conrad Visits 'D-List' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 7th 2010 8:30AM
Lauren Conrad, ex-cast member of 'Laguna Beach' and 'The Hills' drops by 'Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List' (Tue., 10PM ET on BRVO) to help Kathy Griffin's mother Maggie pick fabric for some moo-moos. But what starts as an innocent favor becomes, for Kathy, some petty drama perfect for a scene from the comedienne's "The Hills Adjacent."Maggie and Lauren really hit it off, and Kathy gets jealous. When she suggests they all go to lunch, Maggie and Lauren have already made plans together -- and Lauren's car is only a "two-seater."
Later, in an interview on the "show," Kathy feigns hurt feelings: "I just feel like my mom doesn't get me. I just feel like LC brings so much drama ... Turns out that I'm Stephanie Pratt, and my mother is Audrina. So unfair."
Maggie Griffin Talks About Daughter Kathy, Her New Book, Betty White and More
by Christine Champagne, posted Jun 29th 2010 12:00PM
After Kathy Griffin shared her life story last year in the #1 'New York Times' Bestseller 'Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin,' publishers approached her mom Maggie Griffin and asked her if she'd be interested in writing a book. Maggie Griffin, whom we've all come to know and love for her appearances on 'Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List,' was reluctant. She recalled saying, "I'm not a writer. I'm not an author. What have I got to say?" But with her daughter's encouragement, Griffin put pen to paper, and the result is 'TIP IT! The World According to Maggie.'
Published by Hyperion, the book is partly a memoir -- the 90-year-old chronicles her Depression-era childhood right through her 50-plus-year marriage to her late husband Johnny -- and partly an advice tome, with Maggie dispensing her wit and wisdom on everything from how to flirt your way out of a traffic ticket to the benefits of wine from a box.
She writes about Kathy, too, of course, and Kathy gets her two-cents in, making comments throughout the book. TV Squad talked to Griffin about Betty White, the Kardashians and Kathy for Chrissakes!
Kathy Griffin's She'll Cut A Bitch on DVD
by Nick Zaino, posted Jan 11th 2010 7:54PM
The best thing about making fun of the daily failings of celebrities and other public figures, as is Kathy Griffin's bread and butter, is that you can write a new act every few weeks. Griffin's Bravo special, She'll Cut A Bitch, originally aired in April of 2009, and comes out uncensored with a few extra routines (about 12 minutes total) on DVD January 12. She also released a CD last November, called Suckin' It For the Holidays, which had almost nothing to do with the holidays. There was very little overlap between the special and CD. Griffin has released a steady stream of specials for the past several years, in addition to shooting her reality show, My Life on the D-List.
