Mario Lopez to Host Miss America 2010

by Meg Prossnitz, posted Nov 5th 2009 2:32PM
Mario LopezFrom AC to emcee!

The 'Extra' TV host formerly known as Slater on 'Saved by the Bell' will be master of ceremonies at the live Miss America pageant on Jan. 30. Lopez is no stranger to the competition, having hosted in 2007 and 2009. (And perhaps his experience on 'Dancing With the Stars' will help his commentary on the talent competition?)

Held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, the pageant pits 53 contestants against each other as they compete in interview, swimsuit, evening wear, and talent competitions for the crown. Past hosts include James Denton from 'Desperate Housewives' and comedian Wayne Brady.

Review: Nip/Tuck - Enigma

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Oct 22nd 2009 9:28AM
(L-R): Joan McMurtrey as Amanda McCloud, Parker Croft as Jared 'Enigma' McCloud and Todd Waring as Garth McCloud on NIP/TUCK.
(S06E02) "Watching them bleed makes me feel less... alone." - Vivian

Despite being depressing as hell, "Enigma" was still a refreshing episode when compared to last week's light-hearted pseudo-documentary take on Sean and Christian's financial troubles. Nip/Tuck doesn't always focus solely on one of the main characters, but when the show does take that angle, it's often quite good. This episode could have just as easily been called "Sean McNamara II." (The first Sean-centric ep was back in season two.)

Mario Lopez Talks 'Saved By the Bell' Reunion, His Children's Book & 'Nip/Tuck'

by Scott Harris, posted Oct 20th 2009 2:45PM
Mario LopezMario Lopez is a busy man.

Between his ongoing hosting duties for 'Extra' and 'America's Best Dance Crew', as well as his recurring guest role as a plastic surgeon on 'Nip/Tuck,' you wouldn't think he'd have enough time to catch his breath, much less use it to give us the inside scoop on all his upcoming projects.

Yet that's just what he did when AOL TV caught up to him recently, telling us all about the 'Saved By the Bell' reunion, the new children's book he co-wrote with his sister and his ongoing search for a new canine friend. So check out what he had to say, but watch out: you may get exhausted just reading about his amazing schedule.

Nip/Tuck season six -- An early look

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Oct 13th 2009 10:02AM

Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh star in Nip/Tuck
Over the span of its first five seasons, Nip/Tuck has had some spectacular highs and some even greater lows. Regardless of how you feel about them (personally, I liked season three and The Carver), as viewers we've all watched Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) slowly lose the battle to the one thing they're paid to combat - aging.

Entering its penultimate season, Nip/Tuck could use a little nipping and tucking of its own after the mediocre fifth season that saw a lengthy hiatus at the hands of the writers strike. Fortunately, it seems that things might be getting back to "normal" for McNamara/Troy. And by normal, I mean no more serial killers, organ thieves, or weirdo lip-synching musical montages. Beyond that, it's freak show as usual.

Saved By The Bell cast reunites ... in People

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 30th 2009 7:01PM
People magYesterday we had a video that "explained" why Tiffani Thiessen was too busy to reunite with her Saved By The Bell costars on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. But the new People has the cast on the cover. Everyone except for Screech, who is busy with his tell-all book.

So what is Fallon going to think about this? He's been trying to get them together for months! It will be anti-climatic now.

Tiffani Thiessen has a sh*t ton of stuff to do and can't go on Late Night

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 29th 2009 3:30PM
Just the other day I was wondering what was up with Tiffani (no Amber) Thiessen. And now we know. She's so busy she can't do that damn Saved By The Bell reunion on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, so don't ask her anymore, OK? She has a live-action cat comedy to direct!

America's Best Dance Crew back in August, but moves to Sunday

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 8th 2009 12:31PM
JabbaWockeeZConsidering how often MTV re-airs all of its original programming, I don't think it really matters when a show first airs on the network, but it's still bold moving Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew to Sundays at 9PM ET for its eight episode fourth season. Previous seasons have aired on Thursdays at 10PM ET. The show brought in big numbers in its Thursday slot, so methinks MTV is hoping to grow the brand. Maybe some cross-appreciation with So You Think You Can Dance could do it.

Shane Sparks recently appeared on SYTYCD with a couple of less-than-impressive choreographed numbers. Maybe Nigel would allow him to pimp the new season of ABDC there. Or bring in JabbaWockeeZ or one of the other past teams to dance on a results show of SYTYCD. How hot would that be? Speaking of, the new season of ABDC is preluded by a special highlighting the top ten dance performances ever on the show August 2 at 9PM ET. There've been some pretty sick performances on the show, so this is a must-see!

The reality TV dance show scorecard

by Michael Pascua, posted Jun 17th 2009 3:25PM
Chelsie Hightower on So You Think You Can Dance, months before Dancing with the StarsWith the second week of competitions tonight on So You Think You Can Dance, I wanted to point out a trend: reality dance show contestants can't leave television. Several contestants and a few choreographers have jumped ship and have appeared on other reality shows.

The jump basically can plant an already established fanbase onto a different television show. One great example is Ty Murray on Dancing with the Stars. I'm not sure what the percentage of votes for Ty came from fans of Chelsie Hightower and her work from SYTYCD or his charm, but he definitely benefited from someone who knew to make routines that were camera friendly.

Help Jimmy Fallon reunite the cast of Saved By The Bell - VIDEO

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 29th 2009 10:00AM
Saved By The BellI'm not sure if every TV fan would want this to happen, but Late Night host Jimmy Fallon wants to reunite the cast of the Saturday morning program Saved By The Bell.

The show will have its 20th anniversary this year (it actually started under a different title, Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which starred Hayley Mills - just that bit of info I have off of the top of my head means I know more about this show than I want to), and Fallon has started a petition to get the cast back together.

One cast member is already involved: Dennis Haskins, who played Principal Belding in all of the show's incarnations. He showed up on Fallon's show to give support for the effort (you can sign the petition at the link above).

Six reality show hosts, six different realities

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Mar 17th 2009 2:02PM
Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing RaceSince the reality television boom isn't going to end anytime soon, this could be a lucrative career path for the up-and-coming toddler who likes to ham it up with a microphone. After all, in this time of economic woes, what could be a better goal than glam, glitz, red carpets, and Emmy awards?

The reality show genre encompasses the gamut from talent contests to living in the jungle to living in a house with insufferable drones and drama queens and beyond. As a result, the hosts for these shows are going to be a varied lot, as well. Who are these people? How did they get where they are? And, more importantly ... what do I think of them? Read on.

America's Best Dance Crew: Finale

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 22nd 2008 8:23AM
Fanny Pak (America's Best Dance Crew)(S02E11 ... or is that 12?) The live auditions were considered a sort of special, so does it count as episode one? This finale featured the return of all the crews from throughout the season and the results of which of the final two crews would be crowned. I'll just come right off the top and say that I was pretty disappointed to see Fanny Pak taken down before the finale. Of all the crews this season, they were the ones who got me the most excited.

The problem is I'm not sure which of the top two finalists I would have eliminated to make room for them. I just don't think either of them was stronger overall than Fanny Pak. Even the judges didn't seem pleased going into the finale with the remaining two crews. And unfortunately, throughout last week's performance episode, it was one disappointment after another until the final two dances. I appreciate the differences in these crews, but I don't think it was as exciting a finale as we could have had.

Bret Michaels makes People's Hottest Bachelors of 2008

by Kristin Sample, posted Jun 18th 2008 9:01PM
Bret MichaelsRock of Love's Bret Michaels was named one of the hottest bachelors of 2008 by People magazine. But skanks like Daisy de la Hoya, Heather Chadwell, and Ambre Lake knew that already. Bret is joined by fellow television stars Mario Lopez, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, and Brody Jenner.

He credits his awesome weave, always protected by a bandana or cowboy hat, as the major part of his sex appeal: "It creates this Tarzanesque, likable bad-boy image. It says, 'I am a wild child. I will take you on a Harley ride, then make passionate love to you. And should you be attacked by a lion or an idiot at a bar, I will protect you. "To put it simply, long hair works for me. It rocks." No, Bret. You rock.

So what do you think? Does big man Bret deserve a spot on this list? You can view the whole list here.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 8 results

by Brett Love, posted May 7th 2008 12:01AM

Dancing With The Stars - The Judges
(S06E16) It was a big night down at DWTS HQ. Not only would the field be set for the big semi-final showdown next week, it was also the show's 100th episode. That milestone meant that many of our favorites from seasons gone by were making their return to the ballroom. In addition, ABC recognized that nothing else they were going to put on tonight was going to measure up to DWTS numbers, so they kicked the whole thing off with a clip-show counting down the judge's ten favorite performances from the first five seasons. That list, and the rest of the results show goings on, after the jump.
