AMC Picks Up Cheri Oteri's Mini-Comedy 'Life Coach'

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 16th 2010 8:30PM
AMC has done wonders with dramatic series like 'Mad Men' and 'Breaking Bad' but hasn't really tried to crack the comedy bubble yet.

Their first and biggest attempt to date comes in the form of a "mini-com" called 'Life Coach' starring former 'SNL'-er Cheri Oteri as Liza, a life counselor with some major life control problems of her own. The show serves as both a web series and a buffer between AMC's Monday night movies.

The episodes will feature celebrity appearances including comedians Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan, CNN talking face Nancy Grace and actor and 'Perfect Strangers' star Mark Linn-Baker.

This Perfect Strangers fan is standing tall on the wings of his dream

I've always wanted to redo the opening of a TV show, though I can never really make up my mind which one it would be. Laverne and Shirley? Or how about T.J. Hooker? I think I could do Adrian Zmed's roll on the car hood.

This Pop Candy reader and his friend did the opening of Perfect Strangers, filming it in their city of Seattle instead of Chicago. The original is after the jump.

Weekend Time Sink - Vintage rap from Balki - VIDEO

by Brett Love, posted Apr 19th 2008 1:02PM

Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker of Perfect StrangersAhhh, the weekend. A glorious time when the prospect of burning some daylight watching sit-com stars from the 80s rap seems perfectly reasonable. Especially if it's so frickin' cold it's snowing outside. Seriously, why am I getting snowed on in April?

Anyway, one of my friends sent along a link to a post by Benner on a blog called Touch. It features videos of a bunch of old commercials that use rap to try and sell you on one thing or another. You have the classic: D.J. Fred and M.C. Barney for Fruity Pebbles, the strange: Jennifer Love Hewitt in a commercial for bread, and the cringe-worthy: Larry Bird raps for Converse. Finally, there's the awesome: a promo for ABC Wednesday featuring the casts of Perfect Strangers and Head Of The Class. That one is embedded after the jump. Follow the read link for Benner's post and the rest of the videos.

Don't be ridikulus: it's a Perfect Strangers montage!

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 7th 2006 8:50AM
Perfect StrangersRemember Perfect Strangers, the ABC Friday night comedy from the 80s? It's one of my guilty pleasures. Not great (not even half-great), but it's The Office compared to, say, Living With Fran. Someone has taken the trouble to do a montage of all the best bits from the show, and they've put it on YouTube (of course). And it's all done to the Can-Can!

Actually, it's Hooked On Can-Can. Like Hooked On Classics. Only Can-Cannier.
