Would You Watch 'Help Me, Martha' as in Martha Stewart?
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, along with Mark Burnett, is trying to pitch 'Help Me, Martha' as a new reality television program. In it, Martha helps someone who is having a party or "lifestyle issue" get things together. In short, it is the most unreal reality television ever devised.
The show is slightly reminiscent of 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' or even 'The Marriage Ref.' It's great how television assumes that people have no control over their own lives (in truth they don't, but I hardly think making them a television spectacle is going to help).
If you were planning something, would you really want Martha there looking over your shoulder? She comes across as pretty bossy. If your party idea didn't match with hers, she could very well change it around on this television program without your say-so. And if you didn't like it, she'd have to let you go.
Martha Stewart Set to Launch 'Help Me, Martha' Reality Series
Who's that knocking on your door? If you're in the midst of navigating a tricky household situation, it might just be the domestic diva herself, Martha Stewart.Lifestyle expert Stewart is once again teaming with producer Mark Burnett (the producer of her 'The Apprentice: Martha Stewart' show) on the new reality series 'Help Me, Martha,' which finds Stewart helping viewers solve problems like how to decorate a room, how to throw a party or how to plan a wedding.
Martha Stewart Has Trouble Breeding Her Donkeys (VIDEO)
Martha Stewart, breeder?Stewart and actor Peter Krause talked about their respective farms on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated). Krause has an apple farm in a small town in Northern California while Stewart has a farm with horses, miniature donkeys and "lots and lots of chickens and some geese now."
But there's trouble in paradise: Donkey Billie wants to get pregnant but male donkeys Clive and Rufus have been altered. "So we have to figure out how to do that," Stewart said. "I'm sorry for her," Krause added.

Martha Stewart Wants to Throw Things at Employees (VIDEO)
What a wonderful boss Martha Stewart must be! During a craft segment on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) with Chandra Wilson, Stewart wished she could throw things at coworkers like Wilson's character repeatedly did on a recent flashback episode of 'Grey's Anatomy.' "I can't throw anything at anybody. I want to," Stewart complained, noting that doing so would be "legally improper."

Martha Stewart Buys $40,000 'Geek' Chair for Her Assistant (VIDEO)
Martha Stewart's assistant Elliot convinces her to buy one of the Emperor Workstations, a $40,000 chair mounted with three monitors, THX 5.1 surround sound, air filtering, light therapy and touchscreen controls, on Wednesday's 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated). It doesn't take much persuasion: Elliott swears he'll work for Stewart on weekends, and Stewart doesn't want to be outdone by the Prince of Dubai, who bought 10, and a Google programmer, who also has one. "It's the ultimate in geekdom," Stewart declares. But what does the Prince of Dubai want with them? Stewart has an idea.

Martha Stewart Bribed Daughter With $60,000 in Clothing (VIDEO)
Bribery can work wonders on correcting a child's behavior, but the story that Martha Stewart shared on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) seems to go a bit too far. Stewart said she bribed her daughter Alexis with new clothes in order to order to correct her posture, and the final tally after a year was staggering. "I told her, 'You can buy any clothes you want as long as you stand tall,'" Stewart said when Alexis started to slouch as a teenager. "So, she started to stand really tall, and the first year, the bill was $60,000. It was horrifying."

Garry Marshall and Martha Stewart Take a Shower Together? (VIDEO)
While soap stones are definitely more appealing than panty roses, the atmosphere on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) still managed to turn awkward today. While making the stones with Martha Stewart, Garry Marshall asked if they'd be taking a shower together. Hey, we can think of worse people to take a shower with than Marshall. At least the 'Valentine's Day' director would make us laugh and maybe even get us an intro to Julia Roberts or Hector Elizondo (not in the shower, though; that could get crowded).
But Stewart and Marshall in a shower together? We're really sorry about that visual. Really.

Martha Makes Roses Out of Panties on 'Martha Stewart' (VIDEO)
Here's a craft idea from 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) that never should have seen the light of day: Martha Stewart teaches an audience member how to make roses out of -- get this -- women's panties.Stewart attempts to show a husband how to fold underwear to resemble a flower, but the segment goes a bit awry when the man doesn't precisely follow Stewart's instructions, and she learns that his wife isn't necessarily a fans of roses.

Jets Safety Kerry Rhodes Gives Nacho Play-by-Play on 'Martha Stewart' (VIDEO)
Has there ever been a more perfect pairing than nachos and football? New York Jets safety Kerry Rhodes appeared on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) and illustrated the ingredients of a plate of nachos on a telestrator."We've got the tomatoes running down here to the cheese ... The black beans are fumbling around in the cheese ... Then you have the cheese here that's ... deflecting the jalapeno flavor ... The touchdown is going to be here when you see the happy face at the end," Rhodes said, finishing off his play-by-play by drawing a smiley face over the dish.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers Stirs Up Trouble on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (VIDEO)
If only Martha Stewart had been around during the time of Henry VIII. She might have changed the whole course of the English monarchy.Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who plays the controversial king on 'The Tudors,' was stirring up more than just good eats on 'The Martha Stewart Show' today.
"If I had been one of your wives," said Martha, pounding her fist on the counter, "you would have been in trouble! You would have been a better king!"
Not only that, I'm sure she could have done some creative things with the head of a pig, as well.

News from Oprah and Martha
We have two pieces of news from the talk show world today. First, Oprah Winfrey's upcoming OWN network now has a tagline. The tagline is "it's your life ... own it". This tagline is probably better than the proposed one "I have more money than all of you combined and will use it to conquer the world ... MWA HA HA".In other news, Martha Stewart is following in the steps of Oprah and leaving daytime syndication for a cable deal. Her new show is slated to run on the Hallmark Channel and the network will also run Martha-owned programming after her own show. This can be taken as a sign of the diminishing power of network television as well as the increasing power of Martha Stewart.
The question we must really ask is: if Martha and Oprah combined into one entity that consumed all of daytime television, what would that entity be called? Marah? Optha? The All-Consuming Beast?
'Martha Stewart' to Redecorate on Hallmark Channel
Martha Stewart is about to have her very own Hallmark moment.According to Media Decoder, the daytime host has announced plans to move 'The Martha Stewart' show from syndication to the Hallmark Channel, where it will begin airing original episodes in September.
As part of the move, 'Martha Stewart,' which premiered in 2005, will air from 10-11AM across the country, and will follow with original programming from 11AM-12:30PM. What said programming will be has yet to be revealed; however, it will be produced by Stewart's company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Also on Stewart's plate: holiday and interview specials that will air exclusively in prime time.
Best TV of the '00s: Celebrities
More of our best of the decade coverage, which started on Tuesday. You can read the other posts at the link above. Here, we talk about a very aught-like phenomenon: the cult of celebrity.
There is no clearer metaphor for the concept of being a celebrity than the Hollywood Walk of Fame. You work hard to chase your dream and achieve a career for yourself by making your name known to the masses of the universe.
Then when you've grabbed that star and become a regular fixture in the flash bulb of the press' cameras, how does the public honor your tireless toil and efforts? They throw you down on a sidewalk and walk all over you.
In the Aughts, however, a new celebrity oozed out of the primordial muck. A celebrity that still suffered the slings and arrows of the tabloid press and a complete loss of the right to privacy, but achieved their stardom by simply cutting out all that pesky hard work and tireless effort nonsense. These are the celebrities who became famous by simply because they were famous.
Martha Stewart and Jimmy Fallon Make Pastries, Double Entendres on 'Late Night' (VIDEO)
Jimmy Fallon seems to have a one-track mind. During a segment with Martha Stewart on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,' the host couldn't help making double entendres while cooking alongside the domestic diva. Fallon had fun with Stewart's instructions to fill pastries by "sticking them right in the bottom" with a pastry bag, and her choice of Bangkok as a destination for New Year's. We'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Martha sits in with the gals on Whatever, Martha
When Whatever, Martha! was first conceived and I wrote about it, I was doubtful that the show would succeed in really ripping Martha. I thought they're comparing the comedy to Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the press release was setting the bar too high and they would fall on their faces. Well, guess what? They were right and I was wrong. Whatever, Martha! works and it is very funny. Things should get really interesting on the show when the butt of the jokes -- Martha herself -- appears on Whatever, Martha! tonight, Wednesday, December 2. On Fine Living.
Martha will be on with the stars, Jennifer Koppelman Hutt and Alexis Stewart, to dish about classic clips from Martha Stewart Living.
