Martin Short Joins 'How I Met Your Mother,' New 'Bachelor Pad' Contestant Announced & More Casting News
by Jean Bentley, posted Jun 28th 2011 11:45AM
Martin Short is returning to his comedy roots with a recurring role on 'How I Met Your Mother' this fall. Something tells us he's definitely not the mother.Vulture reports that Short will fill in for Dave Foley as Marshall's new boss; Foley's new series 'How to Be a Gentleman' (also on CBS) prevents him from continuing his role.
Short got his drama fill on 'Damages' last season, and can next be seen on this season of 'Weeds,' which premiered last night.

Martin Short Sings a Tribute to the Killing of Osama Bin Laden (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted May 18th 2011 4:59AM
Martin Short went on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) with a tribute to Osama Bin Laden. Just like Elton John repurposed his song 'Candle in the Wind' to commemorate the death of Princess Diana, Short took that same song to pay tribute to 'Al-Qaeda's Rose.'It was a beautifully dramatic presentation, with Short poised behind the piano, tickling the ivories. When he reached the lines "It seems to me you lived your life / Like a bastard in the sand / Never knowing when the US / Navy SEALs would land," the camera cut back to show men dressed in uniform representing SEAL Team Six.
By the end of the number, which included lines about Bin Laden getting shot in the face and burning in Hell, an American flag had dropped to emphasize the patriotism of this beautiful moment of cathartic silliness.
Martin Short Impersonates the Entire Cast of 'Jersey Shore' on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 26th 2011 3:56AM
Hey, MTV! There's no need to pay all those 'Jersey Shore' cast members all that money. Not when you can just pay one guy. Martin Short proved he knows what the kids are watching on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM on ABC).He put together a movie trailer for a 'Jersey Shore' film in which he plays every member of the cast, including the newest: Snooki's pickle baby. Yes, it's really a pickle.
The absurd short had Short dressed as each cast member, and he was surprisingly believable as most of them. He seemed to especially have a grasp on Snooki's personality and character.
Martin Short Locks Lips With Kelly Ripa on 'Regis and Kelly' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Jan 20th 2011 12:45PM
Martin Short didn't even try to hide his affection for Kelly Ripa on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), locking lips with the co-host twice and paying scant attention to Regis Philbin while he did so.Martin Short Thought It Was David Letterman Who Announced His Retirement (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Jan 20th 2011 2:11AM
Martin Short needs to pay a little more attention to the details. He went on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on CBS) perhaps with the best of intentions."I'm still in a state of shock when I heard that announcement from you yesterday that you're leaving the show," Short said to David Letterman, obviously confusing him with Regis Philbin. "I think it's a good idea. I think you're leaving at the top of your game."
With Letterman laughing, Short pressed on with the obvious joke. "It's a smart thing to do, because you've peaked," he said. And then he advised Letterman to not "come back like Sinatra."
Emmy Picks: Best Supporting Actor in a Drama
by Joel Keller, posted Jul 21st 2010 4:00PM

For the next few days, I'll be listing the Emmy nominees in the major categories and giving you picks and possible dark horses. Feel free to agree, disagree, and make your own picks in the comments.
Yesterday, I made my pick in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama category. Today, I look at their male counterparts in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama category.
Nominees:
Andre Braugher, 'Men of a Certain Age'
Michael Emerson, 'Lost'
Terry O'Quinn, 'Lost'
Aaron Paul, 'Breaking Bad'
Martin Short, 'Damages'
John Slattery, 'Mad Men'
Who will win: As good a year as Aaron Paul had (more on that in a second), I can't see the Academy denying 'Lost' a statue in this category. Both Emerson and O'Quinn did excellent jobs in the series' last season, with its sideways time flashes and seeming parallel universes. And both have won in the past. So this is pretty much a toss-up; I'll give the nod to Emerson because of Dr. Linus' inherent creepiness.
What to Watch: April 26 - May 2

Law & Order: SVU - Tuesday April 27, 10 pm, CTV/NBC
NBC must have heard I was complaining about the 'Law & Order' franchise and decided they had to surprise me with a wicked little treat. So they hired Sharon Stone for a guest role as Stabler's ex-partner, now an ADA named Jo Malone. Sharon sticks around for four episodes and I do sincerely hope the writers make full use of her ability to play smart snarky women you don't necessarily like, but respect.

'Damages' - 'The Next One's Gonna Go In Your Throat' Recap (Season Finale)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 20th 2010 8:30AM
(S03E13) "When I die, I don't want to be buried and put in the ground. I want to be cremated ... I want my ashes scattered here." - Patty to Ellen, as the two of them stand on the dock at Patty's cottage
If this is indeed the end for 'Damages,' it seems like a pretty nice way to go out. Sony is still in talks with DirectTV to work out a deal to save the show, and I can visualize it moving forward. But it would definitely be a re-boot, now that Tom Shayes is out of the picture.

'Damages' - 'You Were His Little Monkey' Recap
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 13th 2010 3:14AM

(S03E12) "I can only think of one. Turn the Tobins against each other, because we won't find the money unless we tear that family apart." - Patty to Ellen, after Ellen said there must be another angle they can play, now that Tessa is dead.
Hoo boy. You know the end of 'Damages' is near (next week is the finale), because a lot happened in this episode to tie things together. Not everything, but a lot. And I love how near the end, they put the emphasis on "3. Days. Later." If they'd used a drama button in this episode, it would have been there. Well, follow me after the jump and we'll see if we can piece this freaky puzzle together.
'Damages' - 'All That Crap About Your Family' Recap
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 6th 2010 6:42AM
(S03E11) "I'm not your mother, Ellen, if that's what you were thinking." - Ann ConnellWell, my goodness. Louis Tobin's Ponzi scheme seems like small potatoes now, doesn't it? Joe Tobin was worried about having to live out his father's crime-ridden legacy? No worries on that; Joe's creating his own twisted legacy all by himself.
And Marilyn Tobin - gack! She's willing to waste her own granddaughter for the sake of what? A few bucks? 'All That Crap About Your Family' is a great title for this episode.
'Damages' - 'Tell Me I'm Not Racist' Recap
by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 30th 2010 4:36AM

(S03E10) "Your Honor, when I find the Tobins' money, nobody's gonna care how I did it." -- Patty Hewes to a judge who cautions her on working outside the boundaries of his courtroom
This was sort of an even-keeled episode of 'Damages,' in that nothing particularly earth-shattering happened. Well, I guess the escalating dysfunction of Lenny and his dad could be considered earth-shattering, though not unexpected. One of those two is going down, either physically (Lenny will send a thug to take out his dad) or emotionally (his dad will reveal Lenny's elaborate hoax of a life). I can't wait to find out which way it goes.
