Marv Albert Compares LeBron James Leaving Cleveland to David Letterman Leaving NBC (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 21st 2010 4:16AM
When you get an opportunity to talk to a legendary sports broadcaster like Marv Albert, inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, of course you're going to want his take on the LeBron James television "spectacle" surrounding James's 'Decision' to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Miami Heat.David Letterman, in fact, decided he wasn't going to let Albert leave the 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on CBS) until he got his opinion on the poorly-received publicity stunt. Furthermore, he told Albert, "You're not leaving until you say I'm right about this."
Albert tried to make the comparison to when Letterman left NBC to shift to CBS after the first "Late Night War," but Letterman was having none of that. "They didn't want me there," he said. "I was not wanted at NBC." That's very different from James and Cleveland, where he'd become a beloved sports figure.
They say that Marv Albert is one bad mother (shut your mouth!)

I thought that Cheech and Chong and Ann Coulter's gloves-off, no holds barred showdown/friendly exchange of ideas was the weirdest match up of all time. I officially stand corrected. Rapper 50 Cent's posse and sportcaster Marv Albert got into a little backstage tussle on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live and no one seems to know exactly why. If only we had someone at the scene who could describe what was happened "blow by blow" and then utter some kind of high energy word or phrase when something really exciting happens.
Apparently, a security guard just announced that Marv was walking down the hall the same time that 50 Cent and his crowd and the two threw down. Whatever the cause, it's unfortunate that it happened but more unfortunate for 50 Cent. If Marv Albert can walk away from your security entourage, maybe you need to consider some corporate restructuring.
50 Cent and Marv Albert Scuffle Backstage at 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'
by Elizabeth Chan, posted Nov 20th 2009 4:07PM
50 Cent proves that 'Before I Self Destruct' is both the title of his latest album and a self fulfilling prophecy. The LA Times is reporting that a scuffle had broken out backstage at last nights taping of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' between his entourage and legendary sportscaster, Marv Albert. Albert a guest also booked on yesterday's 'Jimmy Kimmel' lineup and found himself in a scuffle, after 50's entourage and handlers were unable to recognize the renowned announcer. According to the LA Times, "There was shouting ("It's Marv Albert," yelled a Kimmel show guard, a pronouncement that seemed to have no effect on the 50 Cent phalanx.) There were obscenities. A fist or two flying. A "Don't you put your hands on me" pronouncement." Albert was in town yesterday to promote both the LA Lakers hosting the Bulls today and his appearance on 'The Simpsons.'
In fairness, there might be a theory to explain the thuggery that may have occurred backstage, Marv Albert is sporting a new look!
