Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio joins Law & Order: CIThere's plenty of fun news in today's casting roundup, with veteran stars of film and TV taking center stage on various shows.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has signed up to join 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' for its upcoming ninth season. She'll play the new captain of the Major Case Squad, taking over for Capt. Danny Ross (Eric Bogosian), who ran the division for the past three years. The cast's other new addition is Saffron Burrows.

Along with Bogosian, leaving the show are regulars Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Julianne Nicholson, who's being replaced by Burrows.

Will the show take on a lighter tone? That's the word, with the action centering on Jeff Goldblum, who plays detective Zach Nichols. Personally, we can't wait to see the classy Mastrantonio, who's been a favorite since her 'Scarface' days, on this top cop show. [The Hollywood Reporter]
