Whoa! Our EXCLUSIVE Sneak Peek of the 'Melissa & Joey' Season Finale (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 14th 2011 9:00AM
Melissa & JoeyJoey Lawrence does not play himself on 'Melissa & Joey,' nor does he play his 'Blossom' character Joey Russo. Here, he's just Joe, but in tonight's season finale (Wed., Sept. 14, 8PM ET on ABC Family), he does give fans a little blast from his past.

That's right -- get ready for a big "whoa" from Joe in our exclusive sneak peek. Just don't get too discouraged if it doesn't sound exactly right the first time around (as he remarks, "It's been a long time since I've said that") because he says it again, with feeling. And just like that all our best 'Blossom' memories come flooding back.

So what's his old catchphrase in response to now? Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) has a fancy event to attend, and she asks Joe to be her plus one. Guess she thought that since he's not really going to be her nanny for much longer, maybe it wouldn't be awkward?

When Joe accepts her invitation, it gets even weirder: "Now I'm gonna take my clothes off," Mel replies. Yeah, how's she gonna explain that one?

Watch and see as the fumbling sexual tension between these two hits new heights.

Summer TV Equations: 'The Big C,' 'Weeds,' 'State of Georgia' & More

by AOL TV Staff, posted Jun 27th 2011 9:00PM
There are a lot of new and returning shows on this week and, let's face it, they're not all winners. But how do you know? You see a billboard, see a preview, read what TV people like us tell you to watch, but sometimes you need something more concrete.

Enter our handy-dandy mathematical equations for this week's summer premieres!

Weeds

OK, you're probably thinking that math and TV don't mix, but you're sorely mistaken. One show you love (+) another show you love (+) actors you adore = awesome. A show you kind of like (-) the parts you like = pass. Simple as that.

Here, we've done the math on four shows premiering this week -- 'Weeds,' 'The Big C,' 'Melissa & Joey' and 'State of Georgia' -- so put away your calculator and set your DVRs. Or not.

Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence Talk 'Melissa & Joey' and 'Moonlighting' Potential

by AOL TV Staff, posted Jun 27th 2011 9:00AM
Melissa and JoeyMelissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence already told us about the special guest stars making cameos on 'Melissa & Joey' when the show returns from its eight-month hiatus on Wednesday. (Vivica A. Fox and a Lawrence brothers reunion? Yes, please!)

But if you can't wait until June 29 for your 'Melissa and Joey' fix, fear not. Both Hart and Lawrence had plenty to share about what's in store for their characters, politician Mel Burke and live-in nanny Joe Longo.

"It's a lot of the ups and downs. I think that the journey of the show is that any moment one of these people could either find a significant other and the relationship is over," said Lawrence. "Joe could get that opportunity that he's been waiting for to get his feet back on the ground and go make the millions of dollars he's used to making, and he's gone. I think that's where the show lives. There are several close calls when it comes to that."

Death by Twitter on 'Melissa & Joey' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 13th 2010 1:22AM
Death by Twitter on 'Melissa & Joey'From one point of view, Twitter is an amazing social networking tool -- the best way ever to reach out to the people around you. But from another point of view, Twitter is the worst thing to ever happen in the history of the world. The new episode of 'Melissa & Joey' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family) takes both sides of the debate.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) hears rumors about her niece Lennox. The gossip says that Lennox (Taylor Spreitler) is drinking, partying and generally behaving badly. Joey (Joey Lawrence) doesn't believe the rumors, but since Mel is a reformed party-girl herself, she doesn't trust her teenage niece. After winning Joey over to her point of view, Mel hacks into Lennox's email -- setting up the inevitable outbreak of Twitter-based revenge.

by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 5th 2010 6:00PM
Jonathan GroffRyan Murphy is at it again. He's talking 'Glee' every chance he gets, only this time it's on a subject we care about: Jonathan Groff's return.

The 'Glee' boss told E! Online that Groff won't be around soon. "Jon Groff is definitely coming back next year," Murphy said. "Next calendar year. He's not available until January, but he'll be in the back [nine] episodes of this season."

As for the hyped post-Super Bowl episode, Murphy said he doesn't want to do something people expect. Rumors have swirled around Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Prince, but Murphy told E! that he doesn't know what he wants.

Cast members also told E! that they heard Murphy was planning an episode to respond to the recent gay suicide epidemic.

In other TV news ...

Ron Moore is reportedly working on a reboot of 'The Wild Wild West.' The man responsible for Syfy's successful 'Battlestar Galactica' reboot is said to be in the early stages of writing a new version of the 1960s western. Too early to name networks or pretty much anything. [Ausiello Files]

HBO is developing a new comedy with Kevin Bacon. The actor, who is executive producing, may also star on the country club comedy based on Clint McCown's book, 'Member-Guest.' [Deadline Hollywood]

Is a 'Modern Family' musical episode on the way? If it is, Julie Bowen doesn't want to be a part of it. The cast recently took the stage a charity event with Bowen as host, but don't expect the star to belt a tune soon. While she said many of the other actors are musically inclined, she is not. "I could be in a coma and be imagining the whole thing in my head," she said. "It's an option." [TV Guide]

'Melissa & Joey' -- Special Guest Mark Ballas Does the "Man-go" (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 29th 2010 7:16AM
'Melissa & Joey' -- Special Guest Mark Ballas Does the 'Man-go'We had two classic reunions on tonight's 'Melissa & Joey' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family). First, Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) meets up with her old 'Dancing With the Stars' partner, Mark Ballas. Melissa and Mark were paired together on Season 9 of 'DWTS,' and he helped guide the actress to a 9th place finish. Ballas is now Bristol Palin's partner on the current season of the show.

The somewhat contrived set-up for the reunion is that Mel's character is taking part in a charity dance event -- the "prestigiously" named "Dancing With the Stars of Toledo" contest. Mark and Mel are supposed to perform the Tango. But naturally, Mel gets injured, and can't go through with it. (And if you didn't see that twist coming from a mile away, then you've never watched this sitcom before.)

Mel Gets Her Groove Thing Into Overdrive on 'Melissa & Joey' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 22nd 2010 4:40AM
'Melissa & Joey' - 'Up Close & Personal'Video games can be dangerously addictive, as Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) learned when she walked in on Lennox (Taylor Spreitler) playing a dancing game on 'Melissa & Joey' (Tue., 8PM on ABC Family). She tried to shut her niece down so she could get some work done, but after accidentally scoring 1,000 points she was hooked.

"Oh look, you just got a combo," Lennox encouraged her. "See, don't you feel better now."
"Yeah, I do," Mel agreed, intensifying her moves. "I should get one of these for my office."

At this point, she lost complete control of herself and got completely into the game, busting out so many moves that she knocked Lennox over in her zealous enthusiasm.

Spying and Lying on 'Melissa & Joey' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 15th 2010 1:40AM
Spying and Lying on 'Melissa & Joey'On the latest 'Melissa & Joey' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family), Mel becomes convinced that Joey (Joey Lawrence) is dating a "mystery woman." Joey's been behaving strangely of late, sneaking around and acting very suspiciously. Rather than taking the direct approach, Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) decides to carry out some secret surveillance.

It's one of those "classic" sitcom plots where if the characters actually just talked to one another, everything could be resolved in about 30 seconds. But oh well. When Joey brings his mystery lady Tessa (Shvona Lavette Williams) back to the house, Mel and her pal Rhonda (Elizabeth Ho) crouch and hide in the kitchen. "Duck, or they'll think we're spying on them!" Mel says. "Act 'normal,' hide!" Yep, good plan.

Melissa Joan Hart Does a Sorority Girl Rap on 'Melissa & Joey' (VIDEO)

Melissa Joan Hart Does a Sorority Girl Rap on 'Melissa & Joey'The series 'Melissa & Joey' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family) is a conscious flashback to the way comedy shows used to be: multiple cameras, filmed in front of a live studio audience, with a loud laugh track. And to complete the "old-timey" feel, the sitcom features Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence -- stars of '90s shows like 'Sabrina, the Teenage Witch' and 'Blossom' -- as the non-cleverly named title couple.

The new episode centers around Joey's life as a male nanny, or "Manny." Joey is worried that his somewhat humiliating job is cramping his dating style. Enter Liz: Melissa's sexy former sorority sister. Things are suddenly starting to look up for Joey.

'Melissa & Joey' - Television As a Metaphor For a Dude's Private Parts (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 17th 2010 11:50PM
'Melissa & Joey' - Television As a Metaphor for a Dude's Private PartsWe get to have a slightly "retro" TV experience on 'Melissa & Joey' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family). The new sitcom features Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence; stars of such vintage '90s shows as 'Blossom' and 'Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.' But now, the pair are all grown up, and must cope with more adult problems.

On the new episode, Joey must deal with the aftereffects of his ruined marriage. His ex-wife Tiffany has pretty much taken everything -- everything. Joey is basically left with the contents of a small cardboard box. Among the items that his wife took with her is Joey's 52-inch TV. Now, Joey has almost nothing left.

Melissa points out that Joey is letting Tiffany stomp all over him. And she uses his loss of "inches" -- from a 52-inch television to zero inches -- as a metaphor for Joey's, um, "manhood." Basically, she's saying that Joey has shrunken down to nothing. Will Joey be able to get his lost "inches" back?*

(*You guys get what we're talking about here, right?)
