'Nikita' Season 2, Episode 10 Recap

Nikita['Nikita' - 'Guardians']

It's definitely going to be a long month as we wait for 'Nikita' to return from winter hiatus; this week's midseason finale threw a lot of knives up in the air, and I'm very intrigued to see where they land.

I have to admit, I've been anticipating the episode's final twist for a few weeks now, but even though I wasn't surprised by the revelation, it doesn't preclude me from being interested in how the story evolves from here.

If anything, it adds more meat to Alex's story and gives her further motivation in wresting control of Zetrov from the duplicitous Semak, who is definitely long overdue for cancellation.

Maggie Q Talks Nikita and Michael, Reuniting with Alex and Charities Close to Her Heart

by Laura Prudom, posted Dec 2nd 2011 10:30AM
Maggie QTonight, The CW will air the last 'Nikita' episode of 2011, which will probably result in much wailing and rending of garments when we're left with an inevitable and infuriating cliffhanger to speculate over for the next four weeks.

Suspecting that this whole "winter hiatus" nonsense was just another evil scheme devised by Division to lower our morale, we decided to track down the show's elusive heroine to gather some much-needed intel on Nikita's relationships with Michael, Alex, Owen and Ryan.

In addition to supplying us with scoop about Nikita's potential romances and the character's troubled backstory, Maggie Q also shared a few of her favorite charitable organizations with us, just in case you're in a giving mood this holiday season. Hit the jump for our one-on-one chat with Q, but tread carefully, there are light spoilers ahead.

Nikita and Gaines['Nikita' - 'Clawback']

It feels a little like critical laziness when I find myself heaping praise on 'Nikita' week after week, but I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that 'Clawback' may have just replaced last season's Kasim episodes as my favorite of the series to date.

The plot was densely packed and yet maintained an energetic pace that kept me guessing, and the episode was replete with important character development to drive the emotional story forward right alongside the narrative.

And as for that twist ... midway through the episode, I wanted to hurl my laptop across the room in outrage, before the eleventh-hour reveal had me thanking the capricious televisual gods for their mercy.

'Nikita' Season 2, Episode 6 Recap

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 29th 2011 8:25AM
Nikita and MichaelAs a show -- and as a character -- 'Nikita' exists to defy expectations; whether it concerns illegitimate children, long-lost parents or potentially damaging secrets, whenever you think the series is about to duck, it weaves instead.

Much was made of the introduction of Nikita's biological father, but nothing is ever as simple as it appears, and instead of finding some sense of identity, our heroine was merely reminded of how long Percy's reach is. Even from his plastic prison, the ex-Division head proved capable of manipulating everyone around him, from Alex and Amanda right through to the seemingly untouchable Nikita, Michael and Birkhoff.

But despite her emotional setbacks, the episode's final moments demonstrated just how far Nikita has already evolved since last season -- she clearly learned from her mistakes with Alex and decided, despite her fears and insecurities, to trust Michael with the truth about Max.

'Nikita' Star Shane West Reassures Fans That Mikita Is Not Dead Yet

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 27th 2011 2:30PM
Shane WestLast week's 'Nikita' left fans reeling, after it was revealed that our heroine's loyal lover Michael (Shane West) had an illegitimate son with a former flame -- and, even worse, the episode ended with Michael still oblivious to the boy's identity. Nikita (Maggie Q.) seemingly agreed to keep the secret from Michael for his son's safety, but since the producers have been teasing a major rift between the pair all summer long, we assume it's only a matter of time until the truth comes out.

Last week, we caught up with Shane West to get his take on his character's shocking new storyline, quizzing him on how Cassandra and Max's arrival might affect his relationship with Nikita and whether our favorite couple will need some space (perhaps on separate continents) after Michael discovers what Nikita is hiding.

Spoilers ahead.

Kelly and Alex['Nikita' - 'Partners']

I love it when a plan comes together, and this season of 'Nikita' seems to be laying out its puzzle pieces so confidently that it's a pleasure to watch the bigger picture falling into place with such precision.

As if Owen working for Gogol wasn't enough of a bombshell in 2.02, this week's installment deftly painted Ari Tasarov and his company into a much larger canvas, one involving Kelly, Nikita, Alex and even Zetrov itself.

Perhaps wiser minds than mine predicted that Ari and Sergei Semak were in cahoots, or that Ari was behind Kelly's escape, but few could've foreseen how intimately intertwined the storylines would become, or how satisfying it was to see such big moves being made so early in the season.

Michael and Nikita['Nikita' - 'Knightfall']

A good show can help you to suspend disbelief under even the most unlikely circumstances, and 'Nikita' pulled that off seamlessly tonight.

Was the series actually going to kill off the male lead (and one half of the fan-favorite central couple) three episodes into the second season? Of course not -- but for a few moments when those drone missiles were primed and Nikita was racing through the jungle, trying to reach Michael in time, you truly believed that she might lose him, and felt that same breathless relief she felt when they were reunited.

So you've heard the buzz, your interest is tickled and you're ready to take the plunge into a new show. What's that? You don't think you have time to catch up on a whole season?

Have no fear, AOL TV is here. We're spotlighting five episodes from some of the best scripted comedies and dramas on TV that we think you need to see before jumping into the new season this fall.

Up now? 'Nikita.'

Maggie Q.

Based on the critically-acclaimed French film of the same name (and its spin-off TV series, 'La Femme Nikita,') this slick spy thriller stars Maggie Q. as the titular heroine, a former death-row inmate recruited into a mysterious government agency named Division.

Although the film and previous series take place while Nikita is still an agent, forced to carry out Division's morally dubious missions, The CW version explores new territory by focusing on Nikita once she's gone rogue and escaped the agency, and her new objective is to take Division down through any means necessary.

Exclusive First Look: Maggie Q Previews 'Nikita' Season 2 (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Aug 29th 2011 5:45PM
It's been a long summer for loyal 'Nikita' fans, but with less than a month until the second season premieres, our dedicated agents are slowly starting to unearth further intel about what we can expect come Sept. 23.

When we caught up with the cast at Comic-Con, Maggie Q., Lyndsy Fonseca and Shane West were able to spare a few hints about Nikita, Alex and Michael's new missions, but now that they've filmed a few more episodes, there's more to tease!

The CW has provided us with an exclusive first look at a new Maggie Q. interview that was recently filmed during a promotional shoot, and not only does she talk Nikita's arc this season -- including Michael and Nikita "mixing love and work" and the couple's new adversaries -- the video also provides a glimpse at some thrilling new footage, with Q. herself promising, "It's gonna be a ride, for sure."

Check it out after the jump!

'Nikita' Season 1, Episode 19 Recap

Lyndsy Fonseca['Nikita' - 'Girl's Best Friend']

A kiss on the hand may be quite continental, but explosives are a girl's best friend. After a few episodes on the sidelines, Alex was front and center this week, and back to doing what she does best -- kicking some serious ass (the way she wielded two guns at once practically gave me chills, it was such an impactful shot).

I'm glad to see Lyndsy Fonseca getting back to the action, since I find her talents a little wasted on the gooey romantic stuff, no matter how nice Nathan is to look at.

Nikita's best laid plans have a tendency to go awry, so it was no surprise that her scheme to break Alex out of Division hit a speed bump or two -- and let's face it, Alex on the run and safe from Percy and Amanda probably wouldn't make for great television, at least not in season one.

Devon Sawa in Nikita['Nikita' - 'Into the Dark']

After last week's climactic Michael/Nikita reunion, 'Nikita' viewers could've been forgiven for thinking that episode 18 might have had difficulty maintaining that breakneck momentum, but 'Into the Dark' proved a worthy successor to 'Covenants,' bringing back fan-favorite Guardian Owen (Devon Sawa) for another globetrotting black box mission.

But being an international man of mystery has its downsides, and in addition to struggling with the guilt he feels for the many people he's killed, Owen was also struggling with a debilitating addiction to an ominous Division regimen -- a set of performance-enhancing drugs that apparently come with some killer side-effects that even Nikita can't charm away.

Shane West and Maggie Q['Nikita' - 'Covenants']

It's been a long, cold hiatus, and we're sure Michael's a little sore from sitting in Nikita's lair for the past six weeks, so let's cut right to the chase.

In many ways, this is the episode that fans have been waiting for since Michael first spared Nikita's life in the pilot; we've watched their fractious relationship oscillate between antagonism and barely-concealed lust for the last 16 episodes, and that simmering sexual tension finally reached its boiling point tonight.

We knew we were in for a volatile episode as soon as Kasim's name was dropped, but I doubt many of us were able to predict the surprise that was waiting for Michael -- and us -- when the two finally came face to face.
