by Maggie Furlong, posted Dec 7th 2011 11:00AM
Richard North Patterson's legal drama 'Silent Witness' is coming to life on the small screen for TNT's ongoing Mystery Movie Night series (premieres Wed., Dec. 7, 9PM ET on TNT).

The movie stars Dermot Mulroney as a defense attorney called back home to defend his old friend (played by 'Southland' star Michael Cudlitz), a teacher who's being accused of murdering a student. There's mystery, suspense and some major courtroom action, not to mention the awesome cast -- Judd Hirsch and Anne Heche also star.

And, in our exclusive sneak peek, there's thunder, lightning and a frightening death. Oh and Dermot Mulroney shirtless. Take a look and tell us: Will you watch 'Silent Witness'?

'Southland' Star Michael Cudlitz Says No S.O.S. Needed -- Just Bring a Friend!

by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 7th 2011 9:00AM
I'm not trying to be a TV hypochondriac, but the impending season finale of 'Southland' is making me anxious.

Hear me out: I've been a huge fan and an avid supporter of the show since the beginning. And when NBC cancelled it after airing only one short season, pulling the plug as they were in the middle of shooting season 2, I was quick to help rally to keep the show alive, along with many loyal fans and critics.

'Southland'

We've been along for the ride through ups and downs and some serious character lowpoints -- especially this season, which was a darker turn for the series. So naturally, I want another season for more time with the extremely talented cast, but also for some much-needed character redemption.

My concern comes from the fact that TNT, the network that stepped in when NBC opted out, has yet to announce whether or not they're picking up the show for another season, even though this season's finale is Tuesday.

EXCLUSIVE Photos: 'Southland' Gets Wild With 'The Winds'

by Maggie Furlong, posted Feb 1st 2011 11:00AM
Back in December, I was lucky enough to get to play on the set of 'Southland.' Little did I know at the time that they were shooting the episode after last week's shocker, but even now, I'd definitely call this week's 'The Winds' action-packed.

'Southland,' Ben McKenzie & Michael Cudlitz
We've got two exclusive photos from tonight's episode (Tuesday, Feb. 1, 10PM ET on TNT), both featuring a very special guest star: a huge snake. When Officers Cooper and Sherman get called to a home, they arrive to find a small dog being strangled by someone's python. To make matters even worse, the two neighbors who own the pets are fighting, throwing F-bombs and totally freaking out.

The Show Girl Talks Best of 2011 TV, 'Hot In Cleveland' & 'Southland' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Dec 31st 2010 11:00AM
The Chicago CodeHappy New Year! 2010 was a crazy year for TV, but there's plenty to get excited for in 2011 -- I've got the super-fast rundown of some of the best new and returning shows, like 'The Chicago Code,' 'The Killing' and 'Episodes.' (If you haven't set your DVRs yet, now's the time.)

I also catch up with the cast of 'Hot In Cleveland.' They've got an amazing batch of guest stars for season 2 -- Mary Tyler Moore, anyone? -- but who are Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves hoping will come play?

Then I hit the set of 'Southland' to answer some fan questions. The most asked: Will Cooper get a love interest this season? Michael Cudlitz and Ben McKenzie sound off on who Cooper's dream lover is.

Michael Cudlitz & Ben McKenzie Talk 'Southland' Season 3 (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Dec 28th 2010 11:00AM
Michael Cudlitz & Ben McKenzie, 'Southland''Southland' is back for Season 3 (premieres Tues., Jan. 4, 10PM ET on TNT) and even though they've had a long hiatus, the show's fast-paced action picks right back up where it left off.

Whether you followed the show over from NBC or discovered it when it made the move to cable, fans can all agree that it's one of the grittiest, most realistic police dramas on the air. Season 3 picks up with a shootout on L.A.'s high profile Hollywood Blvd., which stars Michael Cudlitz and Ben McKenzie find themselves right in the middle of.

I hit the set of 'Southland' -- a.k.a. a random residential neighborhood in L.A. -- to catch up with Cudlitz and McKenzie. They talked about their onscreen partnership, who's the biggest goofball and the show's tighter focus on their characters, Regina King's Det. Lydia Adams, and Shawn Hatosy's Det. Sammy Bryant. They also dished a little about upcoming storylines, pill addictions, nudity and more.

'Southland' Cast Ramps Up for Season 3

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 26th 2010 5:45PM
To kick off the week and celebrate 'Southland' going back into production this Thursday in L.A., TNT hosted a cocktail party for select TV critics and journalists to mingle with the 'Southland' cast.

The overall consensus: everyone is ready to be back at work.

The cast and producers were all very tight-lipped about what's in store for season 3 of their critically-acclaimed, network-shuffled show (premieres January 2011), but they were very chatty regarding just about everything else.

Michael Cudlitz Talks 'Lost': Will He Be Back with Ana Lucia? (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 6th 2010 9:00AM
Michael CudlitzMichael Cudlitz is a favorite around here -- he's popped in to play on The Show Girl a few times, and he was more than game to come dish about the final season of 'Lost.'

What makes this 'Southland' star an expert on 'Lost'? Um, hello -- real fans know that Cudlitz appeared on two episodes of the hit ABC show as Big Mike, Ana Lucia's LAPD partner and, later, the detective who questions Hurley after his post-Oceanic 6 high-speed car chase.

So will we be seeing Big Mike and his big mustache again when Michelle Rodriguez pops back up this season? Cudlitz plays coy, but one thing's for sure: he will always find a way to seamlessly incorporate a plug for TNT's 'Southland' in everything he does.

And because I love the show too, here's mine: don't miss tonight's stellar season finale of 'Southland' (Tues., April 6, 10PM ET on TNT).

Michael Cudlitz On 'Southland' Season 2 Being Better, Darker - VIDEO

by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 1st 2010 7:00PM
Michael CudlitzWhen it comes to 'Southland,' star Michael Cudlitz tells it like it is. He was the first to speak out when NBC swiftly cancelled the series before season 2 could even begin, and he's still very vocal regarding their decision, especially in light of the show's stellar first episodes back (premieres Tues., March 2, 10PM ET on TNT).

Cudlitz talked to AOL TV about the show getting more focused -- "it's just better" -- and TNT's dedication to promoting it and making it a hit. But what about his character Officer Cooper's pill addiction? "It definitely gets darker before it gets lighter ... if it does get lighter," he teases with a laugh.

Watch the full interview now to hear it all, and to find out which fellow 'Southland' cop he'd want to trade places with for a day. His answer is funny (of course), and based entirely on footwear.

Michael Cudlitz, 'Southland''Curb Your Enthusiasm' is the best therapy ever. No matter how bad your day was or what horrible things you might've done, Larry David can always make you feel like a saint. And now, the show is in syndication -- hooray! Star Cheryl Hines dishes about her all-time favorite episodes.

I also hit the colorful 'Yo Gabba Gabba!' set to catch up with their regular art guru, Mark Mothersbaugh, who'll actually be performing with his band Devo on the show this season. Then I go undercover with 'Southland' star Michael Cudlitz on some unofficial police business -- a.k.a. kicking in doors and blowing things up -- and get scoop on his character's love life.

'Southland' on TNT Preview: Cast & Producers Talk What to Expect

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jan 7th 2010 3:00PM
As TNT's premiere of 'Southland' draws near, fans are no doubt wondering what to expect from the show that NBC so swiftly canceled before its second season could even premiere.

In an exclusive clip we saw from the first new episode -- which will begin airing after the original seven episodes from season 1 premiere on TNT (Tues., Jan. 12, 10PM ET) -- you can tell that the action picks right back up where it left off.

AOL TV got the chance to chat with 'Southland' stars Ben McKenzie, Michael Cudlitz and Regina King, as well as executive producers Ann Biderman and Chris Chulack. As should be expected, they're all incredibly excited about their new home, their big commercial-free cable premiere, the extra 6-plus minutes of bonus footage that'll also debut with the premiere and the future of the show.

Here are some of the biggest questions they tackled, head-on ... 'Southland'-style.

Michael Cudlitz Talks 'Southland,' Moving to TNT and Being the Truth Bearer

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 3rd 2009 3:20PM
Michael Cudlitz, 'Southland'One of the biggest "What the ..." moments of fall TV didn't even happen on TV. In a bizarre fit of scheduling shake-ups, NBC cancelled critically acclaimed drama 'Southland' just weeks before the second season was set to premiere. TNT has picked up the show, so now 'Southland' fans -- and hilariously vocal star Michael Cudlitz -- can rest easy.

AOL TV sat down with Cudlitz before all the drama went down -- you can see the full interview after the jump -- and we also just caught up with him again to get his reaction to the big news.

TNT picks up Southland (probably)

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 24th 2009 2:00PM
Southland
When NBC canceled Southland before the second season even had a chance to debut, online fans went into "Save Southland" mode. They went on Twitter, wrote letters to NBC and Warner Brothers, and tried to get the network to reconsider their decision, Jericho-style. Well, NBC is still not going to air the show, but Nikki Finke is reporting that TNT is going to pick up the show and start airing the first season as early as next week.

But she says that the deal isn't set yet because TNT and NBC can't come to terms on money (of course). In fact, an insider tells Finke that the "behavior from NBC has been unbelievable and amazingly f***ed up - even for them - which is saying something."

Of course, there's no word yet on whether TNT will simply buy the first season's worth of episodes and whatever they filmed for the second season or if TNT will actually produce more new episodes.

Goodbye Southland

Southland
Oh, this is going to tick off sooooo many people.

NBC has decided to cancel Southland! They have finished filming six episodes for season two but NBC suddenly pulled the plug on the show. There's still a chance that a cable network could pick it up. I can picture the show on FX or TNT or USA. Or maybe NBC could put it on Bravo? Nah, then they'd have no room for Real Housewives of Bangor, Maine.

Southland: Derailed (season finale) - open thread

by Bob Sassone, posted May 22nd 2009 9:25AM
SouthlandThis was only the seventh episode of Southland but it was also the season finale, due to it starting after ER ended its run.

I'm still of two minds about this show. While it's obvious it's a "quality" show, I want more Adam-12 and less ensemble cast dramatics. Did you catch the scene with the lady with the chicken nuggets? That actually happened in real life a few months ago. (Yes, I mentioned chicken nuggets before the big shooting at the end!)

The show is coming back this fall but will move to Friday nights at 9 (thanks Jay). That's probably not a good thing.
