Michael McKean and Megan Mullally are dating ... on 'Happy Endings.'

According to TVLine, McKean has been cast as Dave's dad. When he comes to town, he'll be joined by Penny's Mom, Dana, played by Megan Mullally. Could Dave and Penny become step-siblings!?

The episode is set to air in early 2012. This is Mullally's second guest appearance on the series. Her character made her debut in an early October episode. Dana and Penny performed a mother-daughter duet to 'Torn.'

D.L. Hughley, Michael McKean and Gina Gershon will guest star on TBS's new series 'Glory Daze.'

According to TV Guide, Hughley will play Coach Franklin, McKean has been tapped to play the head of maintenance and Gershon will play a tough military instructor. 'Everybody Loves Raymond' star Brad Garrett and 'Saturday Night Live' veteran Cheri Oteri will appear in the 'Glory Daze' pilot.

Set in the 1980s, 'Glory Daze' follows four freshman as they navigate their new college lives. The series premieres Tue., Nov. 16 at 10PM.

• David Alan Grier is heading to 'Glee.' The funnyman has been tapped to play Mercedes' estranged father over three episodes. [Twitter]

• We've known Amy Ryan is returning to 'The Office,' but now we know when her character will pop up. Ryan's character, Holly, will appear in the Dec. 9 Christmas episode. [E! Online]

• Balthazar Getty is returning to 'Brothers & Sisters.' Look for Getty's Tommy to return in time for the show's 100th episode, but he won't be alone. Tommy has a new gal pal. [Zap2It]

It's the event 'Smallville' fans have waiting all season for: The return of Martha Kent (Annette O'Toole) and Perry White (Michael McKean).

Things have changed quite a bit since Martha's departure for the Senate and Perry's appearance way back in season 3.

TV Squad got a chance to chat with the married pair about their return and while they couldn't answer questions about season 10, they did give us the scoop on returning to the set, Perry's reporting work with Lois (Erica Durance) and how long it would take Clark (Tom Welling) to cook a potato.

The game show 'Jeopardy!' has announced the semi-finalists for its Million Dollar Celebrity Invitational Tournament, in which celebrities compete for $1 Million to go to the charity of their choice. The list of celebrities and the charities they will sponsor is as follows:

It must have been easy for the studio to get Pat Sajak since both 'Jeopardy!' and 'Wheel of Fortune' are produced by Sony Pictures Studios. The line-up on May 4th isn't as interesting as the other two dates (Andy Richter had to drop out for that day due to his appearances on Conan O'Brien's tour), but the other two days pretty much rock, celebrity-wise. I'm secretly hoping that NPH wins it all but I have no idea how good each of the contestants are at 'Jeopardy!'.

When the networks all get together at their secret meeting. . . you know, the one where they laugh about how none of the mysteries will be solved on Lost and where they try to figure out how many more shows they can stuff into Thursday nights to cause our DVRs to have a meltdown . . . they need to adopt a new amendment into their secret constitution. An amendment that will be as important as the one that decrees that Cop Rock will never be duplicated, and the one that commands CBS to continually green light shows by Joe Pantoliano and then cancel them or keep them off the air entirely.

I'm talking about the amendment that prevents the networks from making live-action remakes of classic animated programs ever again. Especially if it is a remake of an animated holiday classic that millions of viewers still remember fondly. Because, no matter how hard they try to stay truthful to the original, they always manage to screw it up. Particularly when they decide to update the live-action remake of the animated holiday classic to reflect modern fads and values. When they try that disaster looms.

Alright, I stand corrected -- there now may be hope for me to find the dean of Hearst College more than mildly interesting. Fellow Mars fanatic Michael Ausiello of TV Guide has landed some juicy details about who's taken the role, now that Michael McKean has had to turn it down -- none other than fellow improv-erific Ed Begley Jr.. Begley's appeared in A Mighty Wind, just as McKean has, though you've no doubt known him for his roles in Arrested Development, St. Elsewhere, and too many more to mention. OK, I feel better now.

Sometimes there are news stories and (*gasp*) even spoilers that, once I've read them, I wish I hadn't. Case in point, Rob Thomas revealed to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello that within the span of 12 hours, Michael McKean had accepted and then passed on the role of the dean of Hearst College, the backdrop school for most of the next season of Veronica Mars. I agree with Thomas -- that truly is the most depressing casting news in the world. How the heck am I going to like the person filling those shoes now?

Why, Michael? Why?
