'Vampire Diaries' Star Michael Trevino on Getting Close with Klaus & the Rift with Caroline

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 10th 2011 12:00PM
Michael TrevinoMystic Falls has been painfully bereft of everyone's favorite werewolf-turned-hybrid for the past two weeks, but thankfully, all of that is set to change with tonight's action-packed midseason finale.

Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) has been one of the most dynamic characters on 'The Vampire Diaries' thus far, evolving from misunderstood jock to angst-ridden lycanthrope to his new position as Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) right-hand hybrid over the course of three seasons. Where he'll end up next is anyone's guess, but according to Trevino, it's sure to be a compelling ride.

We caught up with the actor to get the scoop on Tyler and Caroline, his new bromance with Klaus and what fans can expect when 'TVD' returns from its two-month hiatus in January.

Proceed with caution, spoilers ahead!

Michael Trevino on 'The Vampire Diaries' Power Couple Caroline and Tyler: Their Relationship Is Genuine

by Jean Bentley, posted Oct 20th 2011 9:00AM
The Vampire DiariesLast week on 'The Vampire Diaries' brought us one of the biggest game-changers of the season thus far: Tyler, who was previously only burdened with the curse of turning into a werewolf every full moon, became the first successful (read: alive) member of Klaus' half-werewolf, half-vampire hybrid army.

When AOL TV caught up with star Michael Trevino on the Atlanta-area set of 'The Vampire Diaries,' he somehow very skillfully avoided spilling any of those secrets about his character, despite the fact that we watched him film a scene where he used his new vampire powers and didn't think anything of it.

While some of our chat is old news by now, read on for the still-relevant parts, including Trevino's thoughts on kissing scenes with Candice Accola, filming those intense werewolf transformations and Season 1 Tyler being a d-bag. And don't forget to check out our behind-the-scenes video from the set!

'The Vampire Diaries' Stars Preview 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (VIDEO)

by Jean Bentley, posted Oct 17th 2011 4:00PM
The Vampire Diaries, Smells Like Teen SpiritIt was unseasonably warm for late September when AOL TV visited the Monroe, Ga. set of 'The Vampire Diaries' last month. But the 92-degree weather set the scene all the better for 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' the episode the cast and crew were filming that day.

Although it's the sixth episode of the third season, it's actually the Mystic Falls High gang's first day of senior year. (We've only gone a year since the pilot.) That means cheerleading practice, football practice, and everything else that comes with having good ol' fashioned school spirit.

We haven't been able to share the details of our visit until now, so please enjoy this behind-the-scenes peek at 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and watch Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Candice Accola, Michael Trevino and Matt Davis doing their best to share some spoiler-free details about the episode. Plus, you'll get a look at the Mystic Falls Timberwolves' newest cheerleader. You might've seen her before somewhere...

'Vampire Diaries' Stars Talk Ghosts, Romance & Season 3 Start Date

by Laura Prudom, posted Jun 7th 2011 1:00PM
Steven R. McQueenBright and early last Tuesday morning, reporters from across the globe gathered in a chic London hotel to sit down with three of the luminous young stars of The CW's 'Vampire Diaries,' Candice Accola (Caroline), Katerina Graham (Bonnie) and Steven McQueen (Jeremy) -- needless to say, it was an attractive room.

Though Graham informed us that they couldn't reveal much about season three's mysteries, since the writers were returning to work the very same day, she did confirm the tentative airdate for the season three premiere: Thurs., September 8. Better start stocking up on vervain, 'TVD' fans.

Spoilers were off-limits, but the three stars were willing to offer some speculation on the direction of their characters next year, including Jeremy's newfound abilities and Caroline's tumultuous love life.

'The Vampire Diaries' Preview: More Originals, Tyler's Return, Finale Death Count & More

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 28th 2011 3:45PM
'The Vampire Diaries' - 'The Last Day''The Vampire Diaries' is one of those shows that always keeps me guessing. Having seen tonight's episode, 'The Last Day' (Thursday, April 28, 8PM ET on The CW), I will say that fans of the mushy romance and friendship stuff AND fans of major action will both be satisfied.

And that's all I'll say about that. No spoilers here. But I do have some fun teases from the cast after yesterday's press screening and Q&A.

Executive producer Julie Plec and stars Katerina Graham, Steven R. McQueen, Michael Trevino, Daniel Gillies and the newest addition Joseph Morgan all dished a bit about tonight's episode and what else is in store for the last two episodes of the season.

They also discussed the much-talked-about death count, dealing with fan backlash, Tyler's return and learning more about the Originals. After all, as Plec shared, "Season 3 is very much the season of the Originals."

Mwuhahaha! Keep reading for more, and check back after tonight's episode (when you'll be freaking out for sure) for teases of next week and the big season finale.

'Vampire Diaries' Star Michael Trevino on Secrets, Romance and a Shocking Showdown

by Laura Prudom, posted Jan 26th 2011 4:30PM
Michael TrevinoWhen we last paid a visit to Mystic Falls, a bad moon was on the rise, bringing with it a harrowing transformation for Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino). As the latest in a long line of Lockwoods cursed with lycanthropy, we knew that Tyler's metamorphosis was a foregone conclusion, but most 'Vampire Diaries' fans probably weren't expecting the ordeal to be quite so intense -- and the end product was an impressive testament to the actor's work ethic and his dedication to the character.

Ahead of the show's return this Thursday (8PM, The CW) we caught up with Trevino to get the scoop on what's coming up for Tyler and Caroline, what that might mean for his friendship with Matt and what we can expect from the sudden influx of werewolves heading to Mystic Falls. Beware of spoilers.

'The Vampire Diaries' Set Visit: Cliffhangers, On-Set Pranks & ... a Musical Episode? (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Dec 10th 2010 1:00PM
I know, I know ... no new 'Vampire Diaries' for weeks feels like an eternity living among the undead. But just because the show isn't on your TV doesn't mean you can't hang out with its stars.

We visited Mystic Falls, a.k.a. the 'TVD' set in Atlanta (more on the top-secret episode they were shooting in a few months), to catch up with a vampire, a werewolf, a witch, a kid who can't be killed and the most clueless guy in town. Translation: Caroline (Candice Accola), Tyler (Michael Trevino), Bonnie (Katerina Graham), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig).

They dish about last night's fall finale cliffhangers and OG vampire Klaus, plus who's the funniest when the cameras stop rolling and on-set pranks that may or may not involve Ian Somerhalder mooning everyone. Then they humored us a little and answered this burning question: Since several cast members are musically inclined, and music plays such a huge part in the show, any chance you'd be up for a musical episode?

Michael Trevino Talks 'The Vampire Diaries' Nicknames, His Big Transformation & More (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Dec 1st 2010 11:00AM
The Vampire Diaries, Michael Trevino'The Vampire Diaries' star Michael Trevino is following in the footsteps of 'Teen Wolf' and Taylor Lautner before him: on Dec. 9, he's turning into a werewolf.

But don't expect too much CGI in his first on-screen transformation -- the believability of his full moon fever rests a lot on Trevino as an actor. And judging how he's handled losing some family members and discovering his pal Caroline (Candice Accola) also has supernatural powers, we think he'll do just fine.

I caught up with Trevino to hear more about his big episode, his wolf inspiration (seriously, I asked that -- what's wrong with me?) and that deepening flirtation with his best pal's best girl, Caroline. You Forwood fans will love his answer. He also talks about his dream guest star, and it's someone we think would fit right in with the madness of Mystic Falls.

Cane: The Perfect Son

The Duque Family
(S01E12) Look at this picture. Why did they leave poor Rebecca out? Is it because the little harlot cheated on precious Jaime? I thought perhaps the picture was just supposed to be the groom's family but that doesn't explain why Ellis Samuels is there.

Okay, I'm sidetracking already. But, I'm finished now. Cane was very dramatic and action-packed tonight. At 9 p.m. we had a hurricane and at 10 p.m. we had a huge fire in the cane fields. The Duques just can't catch a break.

Alex on the phone.
(S01E05)
Last night on Cane things continued to heat up for Alex Vega. He had some close calls with the law. How much longer can he cover his tracks with his involvement in Quinones's murder? Plus, Senator Barnes had to resign because he was found with a male hooker. (Is that the right term? I think Joe Samuels helped would say so.) Guess there's no ethanol deal. Bad news for Alex. Good news for Cane fans. We get to watch him try to clean up this fine mess.

Cane: Family Business

Jimmy Smits lights a cigar
(S01E04) I was pleasantly surprised yet again this week by last night's Cane. The narrative is really starting to gel in both the overarching plot of the season and within individual episodes. Maybe it's wishful thinking but this show could be the Dynasty or Dallas I have been waiting for. Okay, maybe that assessment was premature (I don't want to put that kind of pressure on the Smits), but this episode was great. The show is finally doing a good job of balancing the all the different storylines and making most, if not all, the characters interesting in their own right. For awhile there, it was just Jimmy Smits and his interactions with everyone else.

Cane: The Two Alex Vegas

So I was beginning to have really mixed feelings about this show. I loved the classic themes and plots which allow for so many storylines and conflicts. And of course, no one can argue with this ensemble cast. But I felt like the story wasn't pulling me in and Alex's character wasn't believable or appealing. (I know it's TV so "believable" is a huge demand, but I mean that brand of TV believable.) I watched last week and had this sense that something was just missing. Maybe it has too many characters. Maybe it has too many storylines. Maybe CBS keeps these storylines a little too PG for a show that's slated for 10 p.m. (HBO could turn this plot and this cast into the just-can't-miss-it television that populates the Sunday night time slots.) But tonight, all my mixed feelings about Cane started to disappear...

The Duque Family of CBS's Cane
(S01E02)
Last night on Cane Alex started his new position as the head of the Duque rum and sugar empire but things aren't business as usual: Alex continued to deal with brewing opposition from his "brother" Frank and had to clean up some loose ends from the murder of Quinones.

Some people might say that this show is just Dallas remixed but I love me some classic rich family drama (this drama is spicier because it includes Jimmy Smits and an array of nice suits). Smits certainly makes a good front man for this cast which also includes Hector Elizondo and the incomparable Rita Moreno.
