Fran Drescher Gets Frisky With Michael Voltaggio (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Dec 14th 2010 10:31PM
Top Chef Michael Voltaggio was on 'The Fran Drescher Show' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) to give Drescher some cooking lessons, one of which was how to make a maple syrup marshmallow. But he couldn't get a word in edgewise while he was trying to explain things to her.

"Are you paying attention to me," Voltaggio asked.

"I like it," Drescher said with a coquettish shrug. "Spank me."

Drescher also tried to use her portable Fran Cam to get some up close footage of the process, but she pointed it backwards, then aimed it Voltaggio. Finally, she remarked, "Sometimes, after the show, I'll make some watermelon martinis. What are you doing later?"

Oh Fran, you're really cookin' now.

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Dec 11th 2009 12:05PM
Although they didn't win 'Top Chef: Las Vegas,' finalists Bryan Voltaggio and Kevin Gillespie impressed the judges week after week -- not to mention the viewers at home.

Bryan and Kevin spoke with reporters yesterday about the final episode and what all went down, including how Kevin felt about being the first person eliminated on Wednesday.

Kevin Gillespie:

On his Facebook group celebrating his beard:
It's been really funny and positive. Obviously, I'm happy to be the people's champion. I had this underdog thing going on, just visually. So I think it's great. If people are in love with my beard, so be it. That gives me a really great reason never to shave again.

'Top Chef: Las Vegas' Winner Michael Voltaggio on Tattoos, Taking Risks and His Winning Moment

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Dec 10th 2009 4:30PM
In a stunning 'Top Chef' upset, Los Angeles-based chef Michael Voltaggio came up big in the season 6 finale of Bravo's highly-rated reality competition series.

Known throughout the season as the gambler, Michael often made risky decisions with his culinary visions. But in the end, the gambling paid off, as he edged out his brother, Bryan, and Atlanta native, Kevin Gillespie.

Michael took home the grand prize of $125,000 -- and surely enough work to keep him busy over the next several years.

Michael spoke with reporters earlier this afternoon about what motivated him to appear on 'Top Chef,' the meanings behind his tattoos and the on-set mix ups between him and his brother.

Review: Top Chef - Season Finale, Part 2

Well, it's pretty hard to argue with a Top Three whose members have won twelve of the thirteen elimination challenges, as Tom tells us at the beginning of the episode. Some of you may think that Jen was robbed in favor of creating more drama by having the Voltaggio brothers in the finale, but I disagree. She had a several-week stint toward the end where she just fell apart and barely made it through elimination. None of these guys had that, so they absolutely deserve to be here.

However, it is mighty convenient that having brothers in the finale tugs at our heartstrings just a little bit more, since they bring the moms in for the final challenge. I love the idea of having the chefs create a first course that reminds them of childhood memories, especially since we got such good stories out of it. Kevin's mom loves fried chicken skin! Brian was inspired by the texture in his mother's simple dishes, while Michael was a picky eater who "hated everything." I guess he got past that.

'Top Chef' Winner Is Michael Voltaggio

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Dec 9th 2009 6:30PM
Top Chef Las VegasIn something of a 'Top Chef' upset, Michael Voltaggio won 'Top Chef: Las Vegas,' beating out his competitive brother, Bryan Voltaggio, and fan favorite Kevin Gillespie.

A few familial (and familiar) twists and turns greeted Bryan, Kevin and Michael on the finale of 'Top Chef: Las Vegas.' The competition kicked off without a Quickfire and instead jumped right into the elimination challenge. The finale brought back all the previous contestants for a random knife drawing, in which each finalist was assigned two chefs who would serve as his sous chefs (one for each day of competition). Kevin drew Preeti and Ash, Bryan drew Jennifer and Ashley, and Michael drew Jesse and Eli.

'Top Chef': Natalie Portman Drops by as Guest Judge

by Donald Deane, posted Oct 29th 2009 10:49AM
Natalie Portman guested on this week's 'Top Chef: Las Vegas' and threw the remaining contestants a curveball with her vegetarian dietary requirements. The final seven chefs were prepared to create a reimagined TV dinner using a variety of meat at Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak restaurant, but were instead asked to prepare a dish using nothing but veggies.

In this clip, diners react during the elimination challenge to Chef Michael Voltaggio's asparagus salad, Japanese tomato sashimi and banana polenta. Although Voltaggio wasn't the winner of the challenge, diners responded favorably to his unusual pairing of polenta with banana.
